I speak differently when I’m at work (a teacher) to when I am at home with my spouse. I definitely speak differently when I speak with my polish parents. We are fast-spoken and it can come across as rude, but it isn’t. When I speak in English I definitely monitor my voice and projection. When you want someone’s attention, slow down your speech and see the difference.

Oh my! Slang and cussing is something that instantly makes me change my mind about someone. I have meet beautiful and elegant women but when they cuss or use slangs I see them as so low class 😫 I do use use slangs sometimes and right away I feel “eww what did I say that”? It makes me sounds peasant. Also it could be someone that looks really simple and a stage but if they are well spoken I see them as so classy and pleasant to be around. 😊

I am technically from America, but Canada.
Which actually makes it more complicated because I grew up in poorer places which have a lot of immigrants, poorer Canadians, people coming off reserves, etc.
Additionally most of the T.V. programming (which is programming) was from Wisconsin or Georgia, and then I watched tons of Disney.
I am a chameleon and another girl, half/half Native/England said this to me when we were little and I thought she was a liar, I got mad at her and it was one of the reasons we drifted.
I realize now why and what a chameleon is, I can talk ghetto and dine in a five star restaurant unnoticed.
I like dancehall, and I like Opera. This sounds bad but I do prefer being a 5 star restaurant personality I often find myself too casual, saying too many jokes and saying just way too much in general when I am a bit more ghetto.
But I also feel the least restricted. My Mom wanted to emulate Princess Diana, and my Dad was raised in a UK household but was distinctly rough around the edges with good manners.
I put it this way, from a very early age I could tell EXACTLY when my Mom answered the phone or door by how she spoke and emulated it.
We are always putting on voices, it's natural.
