I bought my Clara HD about a year ago so I am not ready to spend money on a new one. But it's good to know that my upgrade path will be there.
I've had to factory-reset my tablet twice; I hope the newer models will be more reliable.
Already have mine. Or waiting for it to arrive. Birthday present, 2 days ago. Anxiously waiting 😍

The screens are not the same size. The Clara has a 6" screen and the Paperwhite as a 6.8" screen, like the Libra 2. And I agree about the smaller size. I love how small my Clara is.

I have a Kobo Libra H20 and I was thinking to switch to the Clara before knowing that they were releasing an updated model and now, I’m definitely going to do the change but to this one. Thank you for the review and for being so thorough with it!

@@jseger9000 Yes hard to just buy one right, really like it coming from the Libra 2 - still love the Libra, but something about the Clara is perfect for novels :)
@@morningcoach It's nice to be eco friendly. But what about the battery? I had a Kobo Clara and I had to throw it away! The battery was a huge problem! It didn't last that long even when I didn't use it. At the end, one day the screen got frozen and it was impossible to restart it. All at all, I kept the Kobo for around one year. And the worst is that it wasn't my main e-reader, as I use an old (already six year old) Kindle Whitepaper which until now runs smoothly. Never problem with the device, while with the Kobo, it was really a nightmare

Kobo is a grat option to get into the e readers world. The only desadventage that I see is price. For that reason I´ve got a kindle.

Thanks for the demo! Does it accept my existing library of books or do I need to repurchase then on their platform?
It depends what you mean by "accept my existing library of books." If the e-books were bought from Rakuten Kobo, then you should be able to register the new device and download them again at no cost. If you mean switching platforms altogether (e.g., you're coming from a Kindle device), then you will either have to try to convert them using a program like Calibre or... repurchase them. Nook Books cannot be converted at all, so in that instance you would have to buy them again on other platforms.
Looking at the video, the Kindle (is it regular kindle or paperwhite?) Seems to have much better contrast/readability. Is it my eyes or the video?

Is this better than the Paperwhite? I had a Kindle before but it was so slow and glitchy.
The current Kindle Paperwhite has a faster processor. It should be zippier than any of the previous Paperwhites and faster than the Libra 2 or Clara 2. But having said that, no e-ink device is going to be as fast as a tablet. They just aren't that way.
Thank for review, I love my Kobo Libra, yes the original but been thinking about this one due to Bluetooth, audiobooks, eco friendly and size. After watching your video I think I can say I might get this one verse the higher dollar Kobo's

Is the screen flush or sunken? In my current Clara HD it is sunken, which I don't always enjoy.

I find KOBO screens are more crisp and clearer than kindles. I have the first generation Clara, Libra and the new Sage.
How is the PDF reading on Kobo clara 2E?
I will check for you but seems small for that. This is more of a novel reader for sure
@@morningcoach I understand. I was asking because in the other Kobo models there is some flaws in PDF reading in particular in the adjustment of the screen during reading. Thanks for your help and work :)

Different seems a touch clearer for sure - wouldn’t say better - will be my primary novel reader
I'd love for it to have a dark mode. With a grey-ish darker background as opposed to white. White really hurts my eyes if I look at it for too long which is unfortunate. Based off of your hands on test I couldn't use this or I'd probably order it on release :(

I really don't like the texture of the material on the Kobo Clara 2E unfortunately. It is also not as responsive compared to my Kindle (such as highlighting). Because of these reasons, I will prob stick with my Paperwhite. The screen on the Kobo was very nice though, much sharper than my Kindle.
I also like smaller devices and this would be perfect... if it had buttons! I'm gonna stick with my Nook GlowLight 4.
To me, there's no real practical difference between pressing a button and pressing the screen.

The Nook also has a larger frame bezel, which makes the accidental touching of the screen less possible. This happens more often with the Paperwhite 5.

The Clara 2E isn't exactly the same size. It is less tall by about 2mm.
No. The Clara HD is slightly different in size from the Clara 2. Also, the power button has been moved from the bottom to the back (finally!),

It is smaller for sure, I like the Libra 2 also - just a smaller like a novel size. Love the weight and it is super clear.

Not everyone wants a bigger ereader. I prefer 6-inch ereaders, since they fit in my pocket so easily.
