Hey Puddin. I've never watched you personally, but my father did on a regular basis. Every day on the TV I'd see a video of yours on that he was watching. He unfortunately passed last Sunday 2/18/2024 at 57 y/o, due to a battle with cancer and organ failure. I want to thank you for the content you've produced that brought joy to this man. Until his last day your channel was up on the TV. Keep going strong, I hope to see you grow bigger. Much love.

Never forget being pulled over in my 67 goat. Paranoid cop said to put the keys on top of the car. So I left the motor running and put the keys on top of the car. Yea they got kinda pissed.

As a locksmith I have actually worked on these dash mounted Mercedes switches and I was sure that you had the the right key in the envelope. A little lube and the right jiggle wiggle , and BLAM ! She good ! This was awesome to watch. Thanks Puddin, Bill, and Slick !
I'm sad about Toby passing away. He was a good guy! Always took the time to talk to everyone at the restaurants he would frequently go to. Im going to miss that! 😞

When I was a kid, 3rd 4th grader….back in like 66…67….my pal Jimmy from my class, his dad an over the road truck driver, had this car with a diesel and a 4speed manual on the column….white with red guts…..always dirty on the back of the car, thing would blow out some charcoal when he put his foot in it…….took forever to get her going to speed……when ever he was home from the road he would take a bunch of us kids in his car for class field trips….he was a fun special dad…..we loved his car cause we rode in style…..A Mercedes !
The pipe looking thing was a bad design on those cars was a bad jack point Don use it not strong enough

When I was in college I worked with a kid that had one of those. He was an engineering major and wanted to work for a car company designing cars. The speedometer is what I always remembered about it. He loved that car, it was in rough shape but it ran.

My mechanic found a master and slave cylinder for the clutch in mine. I didn’t ask him where he found them. I 3D printed bushings for the shifter and it works good enough. I need to put fresh brakes in it but haven’t looked for them yet. Mine doesn’t have any rust and has been garage kept its whole life. It’s a diesel and gets about 50 mpg.

That Little Mercedes would be one sweet little ride if you left the body as is (obviously fixed the rot) but metal flake the roof, make some kustom fender skirts and either a tuck and roll or Mexican blanket interior. 🤙🏽
Awesome Mercedes!!! I’ve learned that those nail files have silicone on them that actually end up insulating the points to prevent spark….I personally use a points file then clean them with a notecard or piece of paper after I do my filing. 60% of the time it works every time!

Those holes that you call pipes at all four corners are to insert the tire jack, that you may not have. Still used today.
Those style of bushings are actually still in use. My wife's trailblazer shifter had its bushing out and kept falling off. Got a pack of different sizes and fixed it. I'm sure something like that would work with those linkages

I was a German car mechanic for 15 years. Mercedes has a antique division. You can get every piece for that car. Yes you will pay for it but you can get every piece for that car.

Kansas is the "Land of Ahs" it was a tourism slogan back in the late 80's or early 90's. It was meant to be like ah relax or ah that's interesting based on things to see and do here.
Kansas is also the Land of OZ, because Dorothy and her little dog ,Toto, from the movie, The Wizard of OZ, were from there. 👍🤔😉

About 30 years ago my pop brought home a '59 and a '60 Mercedes 190b. Old Mercedes have a great interior smell, as long as they are not covered in mouse droppings. I remember being surprised at how well that little 4 cylinder pulled through the gears up the long hill by our home. It will make a fun little driver for you.

Those types of German mechanical shift linkage systems were used in VWs up until the end of the MK3 (98-99). There may be some parts off those that could help. Also the common upgrade for the VW stuff was heftier heim joint parts with adjustable rod ends, that way plastic bushings don’t wear out and you get that satisfying mechanical feel and sound when shifting.
Starting that rig like the Sprint Cars on Saturday night at Ascot Park.

It was one of the rare Cars in Europe that had this little fins on the back so its kind of Special 😂
I have a full set of original 13 inch mercades wheels. But if you need 5x112 wheels you can get them off of say an audi a4 or a vw passat. They'd have 15 inch wheels with the right bolt pattern

Congratulations on getting it to run we here in Connecticut we have a company called FCP EURO they carry most parts for Mercedes also lifetime warranty on everything.

The mercedes is definitely a survivor. I've seen them totally disintegrate with rust.
The reason it does not shift properly, is because the plastic bushings have disappeared just under the steering wheel. Usually the horn starts beeping because it connects electrically. Under the spring, the unit comes out by turning it a bit CCW. There are bushings in the footwell too. I had to replace them all. Parts can be gotten in the US from Peachparts or the classic center.

You can get any part that M.B. ever made , through their huge distribution and head quarters in Los Angeles California ! Including trim and interior parts , engine and drive line even the impossible to find parts for HVAC , switches , hydraulics , vacuum , and electrical window regulators and door locks ! Most of their parts are expensive but if nothing else will work at least there is a place you can get literally any thing you need for your M.B. !

😂 I live just a bit south of Roswell, and Bill is absolutely right. When I got out of boot camp, I rode the bus there, and holy shit the weird people! But there is a bad ass honey hole just outside of town with some awesome old rides.
Rebuild kit for that carb is easy to get. It’s a solex . Very common on foreign cars

The nicest thing I ever did for myself was to dig out some earth next to my pad so I could back the trailer up to it and load/unload without ramps. Most of my junk is lowered too. Looks like you could do something similar real easy at your place.
