All the electronics that these engines rely on will be kaflooie before the engines actually die of metallic failure, and no replacement magic boxes will be available, because the newer cars will have even more "advanced" magic in 'em. Variable valve timing based on some non-obtainable electric ouija board? Uh-huh.

I heard all I needed to hear when you got that 283 spinning fast enough. That rod knock is fatal. I was surprised that you didn't see the rats nest inside the bell housing and clean it out.

Back in 98, I bought a 64 Bel Air from my friend for $800. It had a 400 SBC and a TH400 that someone had put in it. Had no rust that I seen on it. Interior was all original and in perfect condition. It had been repainted a metallic blue.
Had it for a summer than sold it to get some parts for my 78 Z28. Kind of regret selling it now.

My great uncle born in 1894, was a great guy, served in WW 1, but extremely frugal. Quite a wealthy fellow, Well over a millionaire by his 50s, he waited till he was 70 years old to buy his 1st, and only new car. A 1964 Impala. It was so stripped it was laughable. Special orderd with, manual steering, manual brakes, radio delete, etc..he did take the V8 engine. Automatic transmission. My 1st time riding in it was 1967. Pretty teal green exterior, and green interior. I was 8, and liked it. Flash forward to 1988 and he still had the car, still driving it at 94 years of age. He lived to over 100 years old ! He lived in Northern Utah, so even though the car still ran and drove very well, i drove it when visiting, it had quite a bit of lower rust. When he was 98 and knowing I was a car nut, he asked me if I would like to have the car when he passed away. As a Southern California native, I had to turn him down.TOO MUCH RUST. I have never owned a car that had rust, and it scared the crap out of me lol. Now that I have watched all these videos of cars from the rust belt, you guys would have thought that car was PRISTINE!!! I did check out the undercarriage on that car and it was still very good, just the wheel well edges were rusty, and a little bit on the bottom quarters.

I was trying to figure our how the mice or pack rats got up in there by the flywheel. Then it hit me, clutch fork. That chevy's frame looks to be in good shape. How many miles are on it now?

Those bandaids ain’t for cuts and such they are nipple covers and for covering the holes on a stop sign you shot ! I told a guy from Oklahoma that the stop signs with white borders are optional stopping ! Dang if he didn’t get a ticket for blowing threw and he told the cop what I told him and I guess the cop laughed his ass off !

@@PuddinsFabShop my friend from Missouri never went ice fishing so I took him and brought a chain saw , drilled 2 holes about 50 apart and cut a line to connect them , he ask why and I said that’s how we troll in the winter , just drop a line in a hole and run like hell to the other one , well he did it a couple of times then notice everyone laughing and boy was he pissed ! Lol. Like you and Mortske I have fun !
