- Dad and me pick up this 1962 Cadillac sedan deville 200 miles away in New Mexico, it hasn’t ran on over 30 years. Can we get it going again?

Travis: "Do we hone it"?
Dad: "Naw, it's positive displacement"
Dad knows his stuff, you guys are so fun to watch, keep up the awesome videos!
You, Pole Barn Garage, Mortske, Diesel Creek, What the Rust, Budget Buildz, NNKH...who the heck needs cable?? 👍👍👍
Cables obsolete. Thanks for tuning in to what we do !
Don't forget Puddin and vice grip garage!
@@timothyballinger6280 Sorry, I forgot! But also Sleeperdude.
You are blessed to have your dad helping you. Old school.

I can just imagine what a beautiful car this was when it was new !
It was a factory White color would be great to see
I’m 69 now and the only thing I can remember about my dad was he would take me to work with him every now and then and he was a plumber and we would go to the naval station and go fishing. My dad died of cancer when I was just 10 years old and so I love watching you and your pop working together and I daydream about my pop.
Love the dad stories, dad wisdom and dad jokes
Travis, you had my attention THE ENTIRE video without a fast forward, and I am a busy guy. I absolutely love what you did here with this 1962. I have a 1962 Coupe Deville - purchased from Detroit just last October 2023. I can totally relate to the things you are doing here - although mine is like new by comparison. Thank you to you & your very cool dad for producing this. Regards Fletch - Classic Restos TV - Australia.
Awesome man glad you enjoyed 👍🏻
@@theetravisb Tristan, absolutely. I watched and enjoyed - like I said, I have a 1962 just purchased !! Cheers to you and your dad Travis, and again, thank you for a prompt reply to my comment. Cheers Fletch.
Another early-60s "spaceship on wheels" dream machine. look at that rear view! What a beautiful work of art! My local mechanic is lucky enough to own one of these fully restored and sitting on big billet rollers. Thanks for rescuing this beauty.
Good for you guys I love the enthusiasm!
My dad and I did lots of car projects but he’s gone and at 51 now I am starting to lose interest/motivation to keep working on cars but watching you guys is fun.
Don’t lose motivation because if you do part of your pop fade away with it, don’t you let that happen Westy73 !!!
In an alternate dimension Karl is still waiting for you to pick up your air filter lol
I’ve stuck the head of a torch down each cylinder before and heated piston up to expand them so rings release from piston grooves. Then dumped acetone n mystery oil on top of piston. Went from 15psi to 110psi. Maybe it will work for you. Luv ❤❤❤❤ the videos. You don’t know how lucky you are to have such a cool and smart dad. And you’re one smart cookie too. You have great content. I never miss a video. Can’t wait for next one.
Thank you for bringing a classic back to life. Coming from a Caddy lover.
I know it’s a sedan deville not coupe
@@theetravisb Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. Your parts story is not surprising, here in NYC had the same issue , turns out who ever tells you the part is there : it’s not , it’s to get you to come in . Am retired Oldsmobile service manager, sir as I would tell my guys work smart : starter fluid would help you 10X on startup ! Very very good job ! Dad your tops in my book 🍩☕️👀😎👍
Are you sure brother 😜😅❤
I'm really excited to see what all you and your dad accomplish on this car. So cool.
Regardless it's sick...and I would restomod this thing and rock it daily! Other than winter at least...
😂
Anyone else get goosebumps when he showed the rear right turn signal lights working? Or hearing the radio still work? What a wiring mess for that door jamb. Love the channel, love the car, and your Dad is right - the reason it ran so well is he did the carb. :)
Hey Travis, I'm over in the UK, and love watching you content. Was wondering if you'd consider interviewing your dad so we can hear more of how he got in wrenching, and how you got the bug?
Keep up the good work guys 👍
At the beginning, you said twice that it’s a Cadillac coupe Deville. That is very clearly a sedan Deville. My grandfather had a 1962 black Cadillac sedan Deville right out of the showroom. I still remember the first time I saw him and my grandmother drive to my parents house in that brand new shiny Cadillac.
You are a lucky man Travis....finding and reviving old gems like that with your Dad. Keep it Up! love your vids.
As usual, great video and great find Travis! You and your dad are making Tucson just a bit more respectable one car at a time LOL
Hey Trav, this is actually a Sedan de Ville. You called it a Coupe de Ville. The Coupe version has just two doors. Ysll do a GREAT job putting in the work and sharing everything that it takes to accomplish such amazing results! So, thank you both!!!
Love that Caddy.....Dude, do you know how lucky you are to have your Dad with you on this, plus he's forgotten than many will ever know....Get er done son...
Yes very lucky what’s shown on this channel is special.
@@theetravisbhis stories are always a good time and I especially like when he wanders off mic’d up talkin to you lol
I like the flower hat. At least it keeps the sun off your head.
Travis, your dad is so knowledgeable about these classic vehicles. He is a great asset to you when doing these cars. You also are doning a great job also. Thanks for these videos.
Glad you enjoy dads very smart
Travis, So enjoyed watching your skills at work with your father. I am 70 and use to do some of this type of work in my teens until my early 20s on cars from the 60s. I understand some of what you take time to explain.
Magic of you and your father together makes this priceless.
The 62 Caddy is great, 59 with out floor boards and engine reaclaced is classic example of your team.
Joe from Smyrna Delaware that appreciates the world you and your father have built.
Hey Travis, in the mid 1980’s I traveled to the South West. Lived and Partied in Flagstaff and went all over including Silver City Albuquerque Demming the land of Many Churches. It was not over populated then and was really cool. Great Memories and I met a girl there also we had fun but nothing really came of it. Sooo honestly I love watching your videos it reminds me of the old days. Thanks 🙏
Thanks for sharing 💪🏼
Travis, Kanter automotive has almost EVERYTHING for old cars going way back. Ive had no problems getting parts for my 58 caddy from them. 😊
Dude! Your DIY ultrasonic cleaner, effing INGENIOUS!!!! 😂😂😂😂
You guys are amazing. To see you guys bring these classic back to live is amazing. I always enjoy what you both do.
Well gentlemen its so good to watch you guys enjoy each others company while rejuvenation of 60 year old replicas. Long may it last👍🇺🇲🇮🇪
It's so good to see two guys that no how to diagnose problems. And do simple problem solving. Keep up the good work.❤😊
Awesome score guys! Very complete Cad i would have snatched that too. Great job getting it fired up such a satisfying thing to bring an old forgotten classic back to life. Keep it up i share your sickness with these old gems. Tell your pops hello too. My son and I spoke with him at the Duct tape drags last year you’re just like my old man and myself were. He’s 89 now and always itching to help out or whatever is going on in the shop if it’s something he can still do. Keep after it guys.. 👍🏻
You guys are a great team. Love seeing the old iron come back to life.
Top-shelf scene where the ShellCamino rolls past the awesome Fina sign - with springs only on the rear. It's not just the sign, but how you guys went ALL. IN. on your installation. You have my stamp of approval.
Your comment about the EPA banning anything that works is so true. I experienced this last year when I tried using aircraft paint remover to strip layers of primer off my truck to get to the original paint underneath. Didn’t work at all. Turns out, the paint stripping chemical, methylene chloride, was banned by the EPA, so paint stripper doesn’t have paint stripper in it anymore.
Awesome as always Travis. Not a big white wall however, it definitely works on this one. Excited to see part two. God bless you guys!
I'm a caddy guy and that car is a dream project for me. Love it.
Your Dad has genuine car wisdom.
Love that wraparound rear window with the roof overhang.
Awesome video, beautiful car ,love watching you and your dad bring these old cars back to life and back on the road where they should be
Wow, love that Sedan deVille! You guys work magic. Please, keep bringing those old classics back to life. Loved to hear your Dad say a few kind words about a ‘56 Olds. I’ve got one, and there is more to appreciate about it than meets the eye! Keep these videos coming. Enjoy that ‘62 Caddy!
It's not a coupe DeVille Travis it's a sedan DeVille LOL I'm sure you know the difference was just a slip of the tongue LOL
Awesome video as always Travis and Rick.
Mixing Chemicals is wild. God Bless. Keep living Free. Thanks for being a great Teacher.
Old school build quality. Top class job your Dad and you.👍
Mr. B. Here ! 🍩☕️👀😎👍. Morning Gems ! That is a lot of iron on wheels . Would be super if it were coupe, so few, but 4dr is fine . Love El Camino guys ! You have your hands full with the Caddy. Good luck going forward. 🍩☕️👀😎👍
You and your dad work on the coolest cars
Great job making that alive again...love your compassion keeping these from the crusher..
Go ahead and delete this if you think it's inappropriate, but your finding all the doo-dads working reminded me of a fellow who parked his Sedan Deville at a parking meter and took his change out of his pocket to find a quarter. He had just left the country club, and he also fished up a few golf tees. An old lady saw all this, and asked "Excuse me sir, but what are those wooden things?" He replied "That's what you put your balls on when you drive." The lady replied "My gosh, what will the Cadillac people think of next?""
💀
Your dad is in his element around them old utes, even more great projects!
That El Camino engine starts great but that's not just having a healthy engine, it's all about proper tuning! Great work!
Hey buddy just letting you know you could build it's so much cheaper than what you're thinking. First first pour the footer where you want it all the way around for the lift. Set the lift up where you want it so you can use it outside temporarily. Maybe $2,000 if you're going to build a three wall with trusses you're looking at 10 grand. Love your channel just want you to try and help you out I've already done it
Wow, the sensation of turning on many accesories and other things that usually doesn´t work and see that the actually work is amazing. Great job done with your dad in this caddy.
It blows me away what works.
It is amazing how many people on CZcams are able to find old cars that they can get running again with only fresh gas, fluids, carb rebuild, and a tune up. I have been building old cars since the early 80's, and some where like that, but most where not. usually the engine or transmission was completely blown up and needed replace.
Cant wait to see more on this one! Great video guys thanks for sharing
Excellent job Travis!!!!! Thanks for the content!!! Very entertaining video!!!!
When I had my 64 Belair it had full air ride & laid frame. I installed the billet support bearing & added the telescopic rear section so it wouldnt blow the bearing rubber out
What a great car! The tech that it had for 1962. Very cool. Beautiful too, and I agree entirely on the whitewalls and original hubcaps being the perfect look. Can't wait to see more of this one! Also, Dad's 1960 Chevy is great. Need more of that one, too!
That's so cool that you got that going a d so much of it still works. Can't wait to see what you do with it 🇺🇲👍
Dad telling stories, you enjoying them. I hope im able to tell my son stories of dad 😊
Great work Travis , you did a fantastic job getting it running again….
Personally excited to see an old Caddy being brought back. Not many videos out there reviving these beautiful cars. I rescued a 62 Fleetwood and just got it running. Thanks for all your content!
Caddies are my fav. Glad you enjoyed
another beautyfull car!
Great revival, , looking forward to the next installment of this cool car , thanks for sharing 👍💨💨
Good old car glad you have your dad I sure miss seeing mine
Old Cadillacs=artwork
I was lucky to be a Canadian teenager in the late 80s that had the chance to travel to Palm Springs CA for a few weeks once a year, there were so many late 50s and early 60s Cadliliacs for sale in premium condition for extremely reasonable prices. Nice save on yours!
That 62 is a great find...
I love the body style ...
The "fin" craze was winding down on most G.M. auto's but Cadillac kept the fins for a couple decades ..
The 62 , in my opinion , has the perfect body lines...
And thats the yr I was born...!😊
You have taken me back to 14 yrs. old! (i'm 67 now) first car I ever drove was my Dad's '61 Cadillac, very much like like your '62. His was black with a white top.
His dad is a blessing for him!
Some new shocks , you still have all these old cars .great stuff NZ
Very nice project! I do hope you invest a little more on this one to bring it back!
Great shape. 62. One of my favourites. Thanks ❤❤❤❤❤
The last year of the fins. We had a 1961 Coupe DeVille . Had larger fins. The only difference. Cars out west just last longer. In the dry climate.Love watching you and your Dad working on this old Iron. You’re so right about parts houses like Auto Zone. Congratulations on the start. Those rings and lifter’s and any sticky Valves will work back in. Surprisingly got all the windows working. Loved the video. ❤️💯👊👍
Thanks for running into us terry 👍🏻💪🏼
Hey Travis and Dad, thanks so much for another outstanding video as usual. Enjoyed it immensely and Dad you absolutely crack me up my man. You sound like my dad and that's a good thing!
Im a sucker for the 60s caddys!! And that patina is A+ 😁👌
AC was an option. The vacuum..canister is for the door locks. We bought a 61 cadillac in 1975 from the original owners. It was a lifelong palm springs California car in like new condition. Had 60 thousand some odd miles on it. We drove it EVERYWHERE. To Las Vegas, up to Utah one summer....it drove beautifully. In 1981 the transmission lost 4th gear. By then we had new cars and didn't need it. We couldn't justify rebuilding the transmission. The car still looked great , I take very good care of our cars. So we sold it ...sad to let go of it. But I still have my parents 58 cadillac they bought in 1960. Its in great shape, rust free, still on the road. 😊
That’s a cool story
That's definitely a tube radio. The buzzing noise you can hear at 1:34:50 is interference from the vibrator power supply making its way into the audio stage of the radio. A competent radio technician can change all the old paper and wax capacitors in the radio which will eliminate the noise, and it would be a good idea to swap the mechanical vibrator out for a solid-state replacement while they are at it. The mechanical ones have a limited lifespan and it's actually amazing to see that it still works as they often stop working especially if not used for some time.
The Carter AFB carburetor that was on your Cadillac has an interesting feature that I’ve never seen on any other carburetor.
I had a similar Carter AFB that came from a Pontiac on my 60 El Camino that I used with a Corvette high rise aluminum intake. The big knob between the mixture adjustment screws is an air bleed idle speed adjustment.
Apparently the idea of the air bleed was that the carburetor butterflies could be fully closed at idle eliminating crud buildup on the butterfly edges and venturi surface.
Mine had a cool air bleed sound at idle like Chevrolet fuel injection.
Travis, you are correct, Ford used the a6 on a lot of their luxury cars, especially through the late 60’s through 1979. Both my 75 and 76 Lincoln’s have a6’s on the 460’s. Ed from O’Reilly.
So much stuff works as advertised. That's a good recovery there. Worth a paint and a re trim for the next owner to do.
What an awesome find, you two are great to watch thank you for the wondeful content. God bless you both.
Holy Man! That's the car from Blue Book with Viggo! Definitely a keeper!
It's just amazing how harsh the sun is on the cars finishes in the southwest!! Burned to a crisp!🔥
Like an oven
Rather have car finish gone than deal with rust
@user-ys7uo4fw3h true, but it's not just the paint. All the vinyl and plastics and foam rubber inside suffers too.
Another fun video. I love the banter between you and your Dad. Please do keep doing these videos. I'd love to know what you paid for that old beauty.
Sweet ride.
Honestly, you two make a very good team.
Sweet El Camino
Looks like this caddie has the side cornering lamps. Cool!
Trav: appreciate the work you out into these videos..the editing, camera placement and uploading must be quite the job..and it shows..say hello to your Dad and Emily for us..out family loves your close knot family unit..peace and prosperity from NY..
It takes alot of time yes. Thanks for watching
Beautiful car well worth saving. Awesome job.
Great video Travis. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼👍🏼
Another huge score. The tritone patina & paint is perfect, love the surface rust, white and orangish red combo. The whitewalls are even a great size, whitewalls and steelies are the best combo. What a beautiful car love the fins. Radiator cap is such a cool time capsule piece. I knew she’d run. Never seen power wing windows, incredible that the windows work too. Man I wouldn’t be able to part with this one…also thanks for including the rebuild of that fancy brake booster that was my introduction to them. Good car find in Nevada I mean New Mexico
What a really good channel and I love the chemistry with you and your dad if yall ever passing through Abilene, Texas, or you’re anywhere in west Texas.. and need help or a wrench….a cold beer LOL let me know
If you read up on vacuum boosters you will find that the principle is that when you step on the brake pedal there is a mechanical valve that allows atmospheric pressure to enter on to the backside of the booster and depending upon altitude there is 14.5 psi assist on the pedal. Of course there has to be a vacuum on the other side of the diaphragm to provide the difference but that is basically how they work. This particular example is called the treadle vac and of course on big trucks with air brakes the brake pedal was called a treadle pedal (this of course is going back a ways). On GM trucks (11/2 ton or bigger there was a hydro vac system in that the master cylinder would actuate the hydro vac cylinder and of course the atmospheric pressure would assist the slave cylinder in applying the brakes. On our modern systems (for me in the 1970's) one way to check the power booster is to pump the brake pedal (while the engine is off) hold the pedal down and start the engine and if the pedal goes down then you know your diaphragm is good or that you also do not have any major vacuum leaks. The El Camino sounds good. I remember when the El Camino came out in 59 and the 60 El Camino would be a favorite of mine. I own three El Caminos two 68 and one 69 and that particular body style is a favorite of mine. Of course these cars are in rough shape (well one is at least) and they are based on the Chevelle where the 60 you have is based on the full size Chevrolet. Both versions are actually based on a station wagon of course the El Camino has the truck bed. That Sedan Deville is a very complete car and would make a nice cruiser.🥸☝☝☝☝☝☝☝☝☝
I remember those hot Arizona summers. It was flat miserable when you had to work on a car that had been parked in the sun any amount of time. You couldn’t touch anything metal without scorching yourself. Even after you drag them in the shade you had to wait a couple of hours for things to cool down.
Beautiful car. I can only imagine what stories it might tell.
Been To Silver City many years ago for a Bicycle race. I loved the place. Stayed in the Pinos Altos mountains next door.
Love your videos. Saving old cars keep it up
Beautiful car!! Can't wait to see it driving
Travis, I enjoy your videos! Those wheel covers are for a '63 or 4 in the trunk.I hope you have the fender skirts. See the movie "The Green Book" for a reference. It's such a nice, it really deserves a full restoration. I look forward to more of your videos.
God bless. Fantastic video.
👍 both of you. Thank you mick. Australia 🇦🇺
I’m with you on the whitewalls, I know I’m in the few but to me aftermarket’s rims and tires only look good on a small portion of old cars.
Also, love your Twilight Zone reference!
Keep up the good work!
