    I have used revere pewter for years as my main color and it works everywhere. Goes with many accent colors and decor too. You cannot go wrong with this color. It pairs nice with Kendall charcoal and Chelsea Grey.

    I took someone’s advice and bought several paint samples and large paint boards from the craft store. I painted my samples side by side on the white paint board and viewed them in the rooms I was intending on using them. Revere pewter screamed greenish brown, Balboa mist was pink, Gray owl was green and Edgecomb gray was just right. I then made a large sample size board of the Edgecomb gray and brought it into the room. It’s a really lovely color but just doesn’t work with the dark gray cabinets and trim. I would definitely need to change all of that to make it work. So I’m still looking.

    Thank you SO MUCH Mr. Owens for taking time to explain all this in layman's terms. I've been fretting far too long over the right paint colors and they NEVER look the same in my house as they do online or in the paint store with that fluorescent lighting. This was top-notch education in the technical stuff I've not been fortunate to have had thoroughly explained until now. It really helped a lot!

    Beautifully explained and each point clarified by an illustrative sample. Thank you and my compliments. I've been listening to many people expound on paint color and all of them were confusing.

    I have revere pewter in my entire home. Our house is about 700 ft.² so it’s very tiny. The colour works super well with pastel tones and pops of brighter colors. It is so neutral and I really like how bright yellows, pastel pink, soft blues, light grays, and medium yellow wood tones look with it. In certain spots of my house it has almost a purple undertone, other spots it has a green undertone, it does change from room to room and with lighting. If I were to repaint my home in this colour again I might add white to it. Sometimes it is slightly dark in certain areas of the house.

      My husband and I laugh because every time we change a color in a room it goes to RP - now 90% of the house is RP. We just painted the outside RP LOL The only place it did not work was a bathroom with no natural light - too green. Still look good but again - green.

    Interesting! I've had the absolute best luck with Revere Pewter. I would and do recommend it to everyone. It's a GREAT neutral color! I've used it for every room in my house (including North and South Facing rooms) and also used it at my workplace in three different departments. Your example of the North facing room looks just like my Kendall Charcoal that I use for accent walls. Everyone has different likes and dislikes I suppose. As for me, I say Revere Pewter all the way. :)

    Great video Jacob. Seems like Revere Pewter is most common in these very modern/HGTV style homes. I personally have natural red oak floors in my home with that slight pink undertone to them. You would not suggest Revere Pewter for me?

    I mixed half BM revere pewter and half SW perfect greige (tiny bit more pewter) and it came out to a beautiful perfect shade for me. the pewter was too light, and perfect greige was too dark and not neutral enough (although I love it in my bedroom)

    I love your videos. I'm about to work on a large Victorian with rooms that face many directions, some within the same room. For example, the kitchen has windows with a southern exposure and also windows with a northeastern exposure.I am comfortable with schemes for the rooms, but how do I try to unify things like trim if I use the same trim color? Chantilly Lace is my favorite and coordinates with the one thing that won't change - the kitchen cabinets.But will this white look terrible - or even different - from room to room. I know there's a bunch of variables, but would love to see you make a video on color coordination and cohesive design throughout a house. PS. I'm having some trouble with one of your links - the exclusive design tips. The page appears as "not found"

      @JacobOwensDesigns  Před 5 lety

      Hi Kathleen 😊 Thank you for your kind words👍🏻 Large Victorian homes are a lot of fun to work with when creating a color palette for the entire home. How exciting 😊 I would imagine this Victorian home has high ceilings, deep archways, double doors, maybe carved woodwork, wainscoting and detailed interior trim right? There is a lot going on in this home and without any visuals I can't give you the correct answers. Chantilly Lace is a beautiful trim assuming it compliments the interior decor, compliments the fixed elements of this home and does a good job on contrasting your wall paint color. As for room to room you can have different color trims if....its enclosed like a bedroom or bathroom room for example. You can bend the rules, afterall rules are meant to be broken as long as you know how to pull everything together. As for your last two questions😊 Color coordination is a complicated and detailed subject to talk about in a video. So many things at play when it comes to color coordination and cohesive design throughout your home. For example what's your interior decor style, what type of home do you have, is your home historical, traditional or modern, etc., and the list goes on.😊 However, in every video I try to give real examples on how and why colors react the way they do in the interior of your home. I will give some thoughts about future videos where I can give some examples regarding to your last two questions👍🏻 Thank you for the heads up about the link! I fixed it and it should be working now.

    My mother in law has RP throughout her home and paired it with BM’s white dove trim and doors. My white dove looks so much creamier than hers and it’s paired with sw mindful gray. Is my gray what is making my trim more creamy than hers looks. I’m contemplating a change from mindful to RP to help my trim look whiter. I’d change the trim but our cabinets are also white dove and anything whiter will make them look too creamy. Right now, the cabinets look whiter than the trim and doors but I think it’s because it’s a conversion varnish. The trim being so creamy has been driving me nuts for the last two years! Please help!

      Hi Marilyn, Revere Pewter has a green undertone. That's a tough question to answer without any visuals. Every oak trim has different undertones so I can't tell you which gray would go with just your oak trims. If you want it professionally done feel free to check out my online packages, www.jacobowensdesigns.com. Perhaps you might want to try Collingwood by Benjamin Moore?
