I love that you talk fast. Putting out the info quickly and orderly is very effective and I donât feel like Iâm wasting time. Thank you!!
I appreciate that! The speed of my voice seems to be the most controversial thing about my channel! haha! I've heard some love it, some don't but I just talk how I talk! I tried slowing down but it feels unnatural and it becomes harder to think of what I want to say when I'm not moving at my usual speed!
@@Nick_Lewis CZcams has speed adjust option on App.. so I always move speed to 1.5 if people talk too slowly for me. Your pace is great for međ
Iâm a foreigner and I can here you just fine. Completely agree with FurPatch đ„°
@@Nick_Lewis the people that think you talk too fast, just aren't listening fast enough! At least that's what I tell myself when people say I talk too fast! Love your videos and just subscribed.
Some people think that fast-talkers are nervous. Also I could imagine that some people are used to not being heard, therefore they talk fast to not âtake up anyoneâs timeâ. Hope itâs just your âthingâ
I don't normally comment on videos but feel compelled to after watching this and a few other of your color videos. Nick, you do a FANTASTIC job of explaining color making it simple and uncomplicated. Like others have commented, you get straight to the point and are very effective in what you do. Thank you for putting knowledge out there. It's greatly appreciated!
For once I don't have to increase the speed to 1.25 or even 1.5 đđâ€ïž
Thank you for this! Hallelujah finally a designer who gets straight to it without stories of how you went on a dream vacation and the colors inspired you to blah blah blaaaahhhhh.
idk how CZcams knew to recommend your channel to me, but I'M SO HAPPY! I am by no means a design expert, so when my husband and I build our home these videos will be my best friends lol
After months of struggling with colour choices, your video is a life-saver. Thanks for explaining in a simple, effective manner.
âThereâs red, thereâs white, thereâs good or badâ this is the best analogy to the search for paint EVER. Itâs exactly how I feel surrounded by paint swatches đ©đ©
It's honestly awesome to see someone include black as a neutral paint option. I just bought a house in an area that has constant snow for 7-9 months of the year so I want to go for a color that isn't white. Since my ceilings are quite tall and I have a lot of natural light I'm planning on picking either a very dark grey or a black
I honestly have learned so much from watching your enjoyable and educational videos!! Not only has it helped me in choosing colors for our basement remodel but also as a realtor when it comes to staging homes or suggesting a color change to a potential buyer. Thank you đ
Well done. The most concise and comprehensive video I've seen on selecting neutral paint colors. Thank you!
A calm, chilly wintery Saturday binge watching ALL Nick Lewis, can't get enough of your wonderfully practical advice and soothing voice.......THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for all your content, I'm obsessed!!!!!
The was one of the best explanations I've heard on YT. Thanks!
Thank you for this. Itâs so satisfying to listen to your ideas. So coherent, so professional and itâs all very, very precise and clear. I am currently having a house build-still on structural stage and your channel is extremely helpful to me. đ
I have been watching so many videos in the last 3-4 days as I need to decide what colors for our bathroom remodel. Your is the most informative, concise to the point video. Thank you.
Weâre home owners building a brand new modern home in the Okanagan and putting materials together as we go along. Thank You for this amazing video...youâve helped US tremendously. Love this video and love that youâre straight to the point. My husband NEVER watches any video...BUT heâs actually watched three or yours -thus far. You gave us direction and confidence in picking colours from Benjamin Moore.
Very helpful. I like how you show the paints of each category one against the other with the warm/cool scale above. Very glad I came across this video.
Damn, I want both cosy and sophisticated vibe. I'm screwed.
Lol same!
You showed up on my feed and I love your content so I am subscribing and look forward to reviewing other videos. This was great timing as I am choosing paint and itâs overwhelming. You narrowed it down. đđŒ
Awesome! Thank you!
After watching this awesome video I finally worked out the best colour scheme for my new home. Thanks again Nick! It was sad when I found out that Benjamin Moore doesn't have a distributor here in Australia. The paint stores kept telling me that I need to bring in a physical paint sample otherwise they couldn't help me.
After some further investigating, I found out that Benjamin Moore can send you the RBG numbers (red blue green apparently) and you can now take this information to your paint shop and can get the exact colour. They kindly responded to me with the information for the two colours I wanted which is amazing. I am hoping this will save some time for anyone else who lives in a country where this brand isn't available. :)
You are so helpful! I enjoy listening to your soothing voice especially considering how overwhelming a renovation is. Thank you!
Nick thank you so much ! I can't tell you how I loved my simply white living room paint .
Omg, Iâm looking for a main wall color of my house, and I watched a looooot videos, but yours is the most clear, and the most useful one! Thank you!
Kind of crazy - just finished using Revere Pewter with a Chelsea Grey accent wall and Decorators White on all the trim - looks absolutely amazing !
Iâm all about the Revere Pewter! đ
For the past 5 years my house has been Edgecomb Gray with White Dove trims and ceilings...Iâm still obsessed with it! It goes with everything and never lets me down.đ
Your explanation is the best I have ever heard, thank you đđŒ
I have been searching for this information for a while. I suspected that when choosing paint colors for a room it might be good to go with warm with warm colors or cool with cool tones. I didn't know about choosing neutral to go with either warm or cool tones. This video was very enlightening! Thank you so much!
Just stumbled on this video and thank God. Straight to the point. Clear, concise and very information. Thank you so much.
This video was extremely helpful! I appreciate your get to the point technique!
So happy CZcams suggested you. Iâm now subscribed!đđŸđđŸđđŸ
Iâm learning new things every video. Thanks from Texas.
I'm glad! You're welcome from Vancouver!
Balboa Mist is a great color. We have it on our living room & dining room walls. The color has very interesting shifts in different lights (early morning, evening sunset, overcast, etc) Itâs neutral enough to work with warm or cool decor. I just love it!!
Haven't checked yet but appreciate your info!
Thatâs the color I want my house to be
THANK YOU!!!!! I so needed this video.
Decorating the recording studio, and your explanation helped massively. We appreciate you!
Great information. I'm looking to paint kitchen cabinets, and I don't want bright white but want it in the white family. Decisions decisions.
Also something that people don't think about when picking paint: the quality of the titanium dioxide in the can of paint. Lower grade titanium dioxide will mute colors or add more grey or yellow tones to the overall paint color, while the higher grade will be more vibrant and be true to the color chip. From my experience selling various brands of paint, Benjamin Moore and Valspar have more consistent quality over the majority of their different lines of paint, with the exceptions being their low end paints. The most inconsistent brand is Sherwin Williams. I also only go with Benjamin Moore because they are the only company that uses hard-dry pigments, which means (among other things) that the color lasts longer.
I'm a painter and I use Benjamin Moore and Behr Marquee, try not to use Sherwin Williams at all their inconsistent products they've been going down for quite awhile... Their paint is terrible
What do you think of Clark and Kensington?
@@Ephesians5-14 I have never gotten to try it. It's not available where I live.
Loved the wine analogy. Perfect! đ
Super helpful! Love the info, example photos, practical recommendations, and quick run through. Just subscribed!
Thank you! Just found you. Made me smile painting cabinets black. Love it
I'm painting my walls soon so happy to come across this video. Thanks
Wow you did a great job explaining this subject! Thanks. Love all your videos!
Been watching for a bit due to the paint people that I follow and vid yall did. Must say I just subscribed because all the videos thus so far have been so to the point yet informative and thorough. And this is what I like! Love this!
Great stuff!! Speaking of light effecting things, one thing I have seen over and over is an attempt to get a neutral grey and when it is put up on the walls, it looks too blue. Your selections look great. I'm glad that there is a move toward warmer greys now. We did a coastal home and we're going for a graiyge tone since we had brown leather and existing beige tile floors. When it was all up, I thought it was a bit too warm but now that everything is being accessorize, it looks good.
So grateful that I found you! Finally, an expert with practical advice. New Sub here, I will binge watch your videos đ
Great video. Informative and straightforward. Thanks
He's very Informative ,too the point , and explains with examples. Great video. Thumbs up this guy .
Awesome video and design tips. I understand some of the mistakes I've made when choosing paint colors. Thank you for getting right to the facts and making the points needed.
Super helpful video! Thanks! Iâll be moving into my first home and I plan on using your recommendations!
Just my subjective opinion, but this was one of your most impressive videos. The time you put into this video must have been considerable, and (as usual) your organize your info really well and in a manner that is easier for non-industry people to absorb (not all decorators can or even want to do that).
I actually can't believe this doesn't have more views because it's THAT good and informative. Well done.
Great content, no wasting time. Thank you. Very helpful!
Love watching your videos. You have a great way of explaining.
Thank you so much for this! Very helpful! Much appreciated!đ
I love listening to you Nick! đ
Thank you for sharing your time đ
super helpful!!!
This is super helpful. Thank you!
I painted my main living room in Shoji White by Sherman Williams. It's griege and some people in reviews reported green undertones..which I didn't want..I painted faint swatches on all the walls and looked at them in different lightening.. thankfully there was no green undertone for me. It's such a warm color I love..take your time picking out paint..it makes a huge difference
This vid is a keeper, thank you Nick Lewis....
Thank you for being precise and informative! I'm subscribing!
I just subscribed, great knowledge and content! Looking forward to more đ
Thanks Linda!
I totally agree with the other accolades. And I found the photographs you use with the actual paint color on the wall are somehow more helpful than Iâve seen on other sites. Maybe itâs because the furnishings more closely represent mine. I think the natural lighting thatâs used helps me understand the colors better also. Ty!
Thanks for this! A great help indeed!
this may be the best video on paint ive ever seen
Great content. Thanks from Australia!
Thanks for watching! You're welcome from Canada!
Finally, someone who gets to the point! Great teacher!
Unfortunately, anything gray I associate with mood. Looking for some beige and creams to consider for a new construct in FL.
Exterior chosen by us was Navajo White since other colors offered by builders were to dark. Now looking for an interior color as they eliminated selection and only will do Pearl... which at least will be easy to paint over.
Going for a more tropical airy but cozy resort vibe. I will now navigate through your other videos to see if you talk about beiges and creams. Again, great informative and to the point video!
Same here. I love, love beige/ cream colours. It's such an elegant, crisp and sophisticated tone.
I really appreciate the way you present your information. It is precise, organized, and easily understood. Your explanation of best neutral paint colors is the best I have ever seen.
Great stuff Nick, thank you
Super helpful video! Thank you!
Love the voice; love your presentation style, and you're a great wannbe decorator's "go-to" ...lol!! Thanks Nick!
The lighting in your video is exquisite hey đđœđđœđđœđđœ
Super cute and great advice!
Fabulous information!!!
Thank you so much for this amazing video!
LOVE YOUR CHANNEL MY DUDE !!!
Glad to hear it!
Thank you from paris been struggling to fi d the right color for my living room
Youâre welcome!
Nick, your videos are a Christmas present to myself!!!!!! đđđ„°
Happy holidays!
I love your videos! Thank you!!
Beautiful paint colours, thank you.
It is often advised to paint samples and paint pots on your wall and look at it during different times of the day. I've heard you recommend this on two videos tonight. I would suggest painting your paint pot samples on card/plywood , anything you can move around different aspects of your space and see effect of light in every corner and open surface at any time of day without needing multiple samples
Excellent! Thank you.
Hi Nick! Really enjoy your videos! I'm a first time home-buyer currently looking for houses in the Northeast and it seems all of your examples are for very large, wealthy homes. Can you provide videos on how to design within more modest homes? Things like 3 bedroom colonials or split-levels? Thank you so much!
We are buying a house!!!! (At age 26) and it is gonna need some renovation so here I am tryna get inspo and find out what I like (cause I know what I do not likeđ€Ł) And I have become obssessed with your channel. Love from Jamaica.
Getting ready to move into a rental property, & I feel like I need to paint before putting anything up on the walls. I lived with a peachy cream for the last 8 yrs so I canât wait to go for a cooler greige.
Love your videos!
For Sherwin Williams, "Pure White" is a great neutral white. Probably very similar to Chantily Lace. We used it all over our home and just love it.
Enjoyed your presentation!
One of the more helpful explanations Iâve seen especially with the pictures showing what youâre discussing. It makes sense and I think Iâve got it until I try choosing a color even if itâs one mentioned. Am I the only person who is so bad at this or can the natural light in our home change so drastically that nothing seems right at the end of it?
Brilliant thanks Nick đ
Thank you! Great video.
this video is my all time favorite. Had watched 10 times lol
I know blue isn't typically considered a neutral but my favorite dark paint color is BM Hale Navy!!
I love your channel. Iâm a BM groupie! I can sit hours looking at my fan-deck of colours comparing one colour to another. These are my colors at the cottage (home). Classic grey with White Opulence (designer recommended) in our living-room kitchen area. Use Moonshine for bedrooms which I love. I was so reluctant to use white opulence as I had cloud white for all my trim at our other home but I can say that I happy I took the designerâs recommendation, Iâve always chosen my own colours but wanted to make sure that the whites chosen for the cottage would not be too stark so I consulted and he suggested the Classic Grey paired with the White Opulence which I was happy with, it looks great. When people say oh I chose a white, Iâm like white does not exist in a paint colour đ which one are you using? Thinking of changing my back wall of my room black but very hesitant as I dont want to chose the wrong one. I realizeI will have to change my other wall colours from Moonshine grey to a white one. Do you have any suggesting ? My room has a lot of light with two windows each side of my bed and one on the side wall.. Iâve been looking at Onyx actually.
So helpful!
Hey Nick, I really appreciate the way you consolidate substantial information! Can you make a video covering lighting? More specifically I'm curious about whether your home's palette should influence the temperature of lights you select (i.e. is it appropriate to use warmer lights with a cooler palette). Something else I've found while doing research is that it's typically better to have more complex light sources over really bright singular light sources. Can you go over your process for designing the lights for a given space? I know that Scandinavian design tends to focus around bright spaces, but I'm unsure of how to go about lighting an area when theorycrafting my own style (beyond the more obvious "figure out what I prefer").
I live in the uk and painted my kitchen/diner Benjamin Moore French Canvas, as I wanted something light and bright but keep to my colour theme of green. French Canvas has a subtle undertone of Green. It blows me away the amount of comments I get on my choice of colour especially as I thought most people will see a natural cream. My builder has recommended my colour choice to many of his clients but it is a little more difficult to get hold of Benjamin Moore in the UK as not many retailers stock it.
Killing it!
Had to subscribe...your insights are too good
Thanks and welcome!
Love this video. This is a true interior design video not like lots of video talking about trend.
I had my house đ painted in Soft chamoise , I live in florida and wanted to feel a bit cool in my space, because we have for so long sun and heat. Great info ,love watching, thanks đ
Thanks for sharing!! Good example of trying to match your paint to the vibe you want to create.
That colour looks amazing!
Terrific! Fantastic orator!
Thank you for the video! Very helpful! I'm faced with choosing color right now. And BTW, I want my next wine tasting adventure to include Nick! LOL! We roll the same!
I would love to watch an in depth video on lighting.
Balboa Mist and Simply White never disappoints. I have used Onyx on a client's front door - stunning!! Great Info!!!!
Thanks for sharing! I'm a sucker for slight warm undertones!
Balboa Mist looks great with dark floors
I love you. This is the best advice on picking colours and practical testing ideas I've ever seen. TY! PS: Same on the wine nonsense. ;-)
Glad it was helpful! Yeah I say just drink up! đ·
