      As long as you don't live in the rust belt these trucks just don't age , half the time you need to look under them to know if it's a gen 2 or gen 3 you're looking at . I just picked up a 2003 2 wheel drive Ranger Edge , 4 liter engine auto trans and only 164,000 km or just over 100,000 miles . They don't make proper light weight small trucks any more , and these average out at about 3100 pounds . or about the same weight as a McLaren 720S , new Ranger's can't say that new Toyota's can't say that . And if you have the 4 liter engine , 220 HP in a 3100 pound truck is damn near sports car performance . People with the little 2.3 engine claim that under a 100 HP is good enough , i believe they are wrong . Long live the best small pickup ever made .

      @@OlderthanIlookyoungerthanIfeel yep had a 03 Deep Wedgwood Blue (rare) 2wd 3.slow for ten yrs till some kid made a left turn in front of me last year...great truck...after lookin in the tri state (NY,NJ,CT) area for 2-1/2 months finally found an 06 4.0 4x4
      4 door only 76k miles with every option available...exactly what I wanted. Lucked out almost none around anymore, & when they are, they sell quick.

    I owned a couple Explorer Sports, 2 door, one was a 96 5 spped, the last one a 98 w/ automatic. The automatic worked fine for 100,000 miles then started acting up, Trans shop said it needed new transmission of course. After I sold it I found all was wrong was a leaking valve body gasket. Sharp looking truck, and you are going to love the limited slip this winter.

    Well done vid. I had a screaming 1983 with the solid lifter'ed V6. Installed some 4wd camber adjusters (it was a 2wd) and some V rated 15" tires & wheels tires and I was raising heck on any highway in the hills. When I found a Porsche willing to keep up with me, we had lots of fun. What a sleeper it was. Thinking hard on a 2007 FX4 o/r level II. It has had a bunch of needed work. Don't know about the timing chains....yet. If & when I get another, it will be cool to do a vid of my own. Doubt it will be as good as this one!

    That's an UltraGauge. I had one in my s10 for a few years and it does a pretty solid job of things. You can also use it for another trip meter, as a counter for miles since your last oil change, and other little things like that.
    I lost mine to an issue with a dead battery, though. If you have to jump the truck for any reason, I'd recommend unplugging your scanner first to stay safe.

    I am not to knowledgeable with Fords so forgive me if I am wrong here, but generally off road packages give you more than just a limited slip rear. Usually skid plates, tow hooks, nicer gear set in the rear along with the limited slip, those bilstein shocks I would suspect are part of that package too. Original tires were probably all terrain.

      @@luisdiaz1228 That all depends, Can you drive a car with a manual gearbox? do you prefer them to automatic? I know it the US Automatics are much more common than manuals but over here in Europe its the other way around. some people say you can get better economy from a manual car others prefer the control of a manual box. I guess when you get down to it its just a personal choice.

      @JayOnOneWheel Před 5 lety

      John Mcclane it depends on a lot of things such as wheels & tire size, how healthy the motor is and if it’s auto or standard, but stock ones usually get around 20-25 mpg

    What exactly does limited slip differential mean?

    • @Whiskey11Gaming
      @Whiskey11Gaming Před 4 lety +1

      An LSD is a differential that limits the amount of slip between the wheels it powers. The best way to think of it, is if one wheel is on ice and the other on pavement, an open differential (non limited slip) will spin the wheel on ice and no power goes to the one on pavement. With a limited slip differential, you'll get power to both wheels allowing the vehicle to move forward.
      That's being pretty generic as there are numerous types of limited slip differentials out there that behave differently. There are also locker differentials and spool differentials which do different things too.
