- Every day in nyc an unrelenting wave of shoplifting sweeps over businesses throughout town. A recent report says nyc's shop owners feel abandoned by their government. Is that justified, or are reports of crime in NYC overblown?

The judges in New York City should all be in jail what a fucking clown show 🤡
In a lot of ways it's not even the judges' fault. For instance, when setting bail or deciding to hold someone without bail they're not ALLOWED to take that person's past arrest record into consideration. Have 15 trials pending for theft? Doesn't matter, they have to let them out on the promise to show up for trial or get charged themselves for violating the thief's rights.

The "DUMBING DOWN" of America just got a lot dumber...

former retail security exec here: The reason retail crime statistics dont show the explosion of crime is because like you noted, retail insurance will try to deny claims under a certain amount, and companies know that if you claim too often they will raise your premiums or cancel you altogether. Most claims also require a police report of some kind...so they have to spend hours and hours filing paperwork which may not be paid off. Its easier to write off the loss at the end of the year. In addition, ppl who actually have money, hate waiting for locked items and it signifies that its a bad area to shop! If the city wont help, there is a point where its no longer viable and the store has to close down. Prepare for the mass flight of businesses. If youre an asylum applicant, this should be an instant rejection and deportation.
but but but ppl's livelihoods shouldn't prevent thieves from rampaging!
A friend of mine owns a bodega here, lets say in the North East. Anyway he got so fed up with kids stealing sodas and candy he actually urinated in a few Pepsi Bottles and some other candies , let them steal them for a week and then asked a few of the kids if they wanted to see a funny video, he showed them a video of a " bodega worker" urinating on and in the items and the background looked surprisingly close to the store they were in. He said he never saw the kids again and business suffered for a moment because some school kids would go there anymore. HOWEVER now that there were no more hooligans and loud kids around , he attracted a better cliental and profits are better than before ( not alot but better ).
Sadly, they could use him for assault and win.
Imagine being a truck driver and getting 110 years for a mechanical failure accident, at no fault of your own. Yet these criminials continuously rob, steal, and inflict harm yet they get out basically free on no bail? Ridiculous

Simple solution just changing the laws:
Allow self defense in your store, by any means necesary.
This right can be given to the store owners and their employees while inside the store.
If someone is seen commiting a crime, you can do anything to stop them, without the law filing a case against you.

@@BlackamusJones I'm not living in the US, but another western country, which is still capialistic, but with more socialist elements (for better and for worse... nowadays primarily worse, even though I think the basic concept in a dialed down fashion wouldn't be bad at all). Obviously the US isn't socialist, but many politicians, activists and parts of the media seem to have a (partially) socialist mindsets, where they pick the worst, most idiological and emotionally driven elements from socialism and advocate for it, as well as implement it, with effects like the ones seen in the video.
Besides that one of the core problems of the US is the society, which is completely fucked and suffers great from the weakening national identity and the increasing devide. I'm one of the (most likely) few 2nd amendment supporters in my country, because I think it serves a great purpose, but the reason why it's not working in the US without paying a huge price in human lives (which at this point wouldn't even change with stricter laws with all the illegal guns circulating and the unlikelyhood of criminals giving up their firearms) is not the firearms itselfs or the laws, it's the society. It's missing a unified national identity, a shared culture and a clear moral compass.
There are too many people who think they have the right to harm society for their own gains or they don't even understand that they're harming society as a total, while at the same time often blaming everybody else, unable to take responsibility.

Wow. At first I thought this is going to be bad for the innocent but YES! The govt will fix it. This is planned and DISGUSTING!
Online stalls with delivery services will flourish
This is EXACTLY what has been happening in CHICAGO......
Seems like this could eventually be an open door for the mob to step in as "security" but for a valid reason. How weird..
I saw in happened in downtown Vancouver years ago... in a coffee shop, London Drug , and recently in Metrotown.. but not sure they are considered stealing, they just took it and walk away, even the door alarm was triggered
0:22 "...government... has sided with the criminals for some reason."
The reason is to break the will of the people, so that they would gave away more of their freedoms in exchange for the safety.
EXACTLY
WP need to start separating from others in silents
while increasing the cost of living, making people more likely to steal

This is a true fear.
So...If you don't do anything to a "Thief" you're ok, but if you do "You' get arrested for attacking the same person robbing your store "you're arrested for defending your store? Time to leave NYC!
That’s a lie. Such a charge would be unconstitutional
*you're
(you're) ok... , (you're) arrested 💀💀 May want to add (you're) to your lexicon and vocabulary 💀🤣
@@j2simpsolook what the DA there is doing to Trump. That's unconstitutional!
@@ojames1983 get a life, geeze, grammar is a bigger deal to you than rampant shoplifting
In Latin America and many developing nations they have a very good solution for this:
There are armed guards at the entrance to every store… Often a pair of guards and often the guards are armed with automatic weapons… In Belize we saw a store where the guards weren’t carrying guns… They each had a machete instead… and they looked very sharp! The idea of having your arm or hand cut off on the spot for shoplifting is quite a deterrent. I live in a large city in a developing nation in SE Asia and here nearly every shopping mall has a pair or more armed guards at the entrance AND when entering every customer must pass through a metal detector and often a bag scanner like at airports… Additionally there is often a crew of guards at the parking lot entrance and the taxi drop-off entrance that will run a mirror under your car and open the trunk to look for prohibited devices… It works!
All this will continue UNTIL NYC brings back "Broken Windows Theory" and "STOP & FRISK!
It's amazing how politicians and judges are unaffected by crime. They must live in a completely different world immune to the consequences of protecting criminals.
The high altitude on top of the pyramid affects the brain. Not enough oxygen.
They do and it's surrounded by fence and armed guards...
They get paid a lot so of course gated homes and communities.
Exactly
I think they enjoy looking us in the eye and lieing. We know it’s a scam and so do they but they get off on it. Something deeply and morally wrong. More secrets more lies it’s all evil controlling them.
I work at Bloomingdales on 59th Street and I Remember them saying the volume of theft is so large that no one will insure them.

Ok, no housing, no food supplies, no shopping and if there is anything else it costs too much!
Way yo DESTROY YOUR CITY/COMMUNITY/COUNTRY 🚨
...at least it's a diverse melting pot.
Perhaps NYC mayor is volunteering to be an experiment for a failed city post nuclear war.
This is how mafias start. You pay them “protection” money and they prevent the criminals from targeting protected stores.
And the mafias are the ones who hired the thieves to target stores in the first place to extort money for protection fees later.
I know a guy…
If police aren't allowed to protect, and still paid through taxpayers, then taxpayers will unfortunately have to take things into their own hands, leading to even more extreme chaos.
that's what happens down here in mexico and they're pretty good at finding thieves.
I AM READY AT THIS POINT@@Anthony-bt6op
This explains why warehouses are showing up all over.
These retailers should protest agsinst the stupid NY govt.
After a while, a "trucker blockage" of NYC won't be necessary, because...there won't be any stores to deliver to.
There is no trucker blockage of NYC. It would never work, too many train tunnels.

You could always open a work boots store. I'd bet none of them will be stealing from there.
This is tearing down the fabric of our country 🇺🇸.
Yep far left progressive policies destroying one liberal city after another
Your mayor is helping and supporting his own kind
They should Open House the Government Offices too, since they don't care anymore..
For the Retailer, just use Steel Gate replacing the door and sell from Online Shoping instead. 🤦
I wonder if bookstores are also having a shoplifting problem?🤔

LOL that reminds me of a video where a supermarket was looted. Everything gone except the fruit isle.
books and work boots are safe.
Back in the 70's, in my cousin's neighborhood in Brooklyn, If you stole blatantly from a store, the shopkeeper and others would chase you down the street and beat you to a pulp. Sometimes never bothering the NYPD. I saw this play out several times on my visits. Man, how times have changed.
My dad was telling me stories of how immigrants would beat shoplifters to the extent that they would be begging to shopowners to call the cops. Shop lifting went down significantly once the word gotten out. This was Jackson Heights in the early 90s.
It was still like that 20 years ago to a degree lol
They will yearn for stores in that community and be angry that they moved away! But all the stealing and looting made it impossible for stores to make a profit and the stores had to move!
This is sad. What a shame for this country. New Your wake up. Stop this please
Its pretty bad when they target Goodwill...or the dollar store...These people destroy their own neighborhoods...That shows you their mentality...
I could never grasp that concept either. Saying your proud being from the hood/city but in tern stealing and destroying said place. Ruining it for your friends and family.
Sort of explains why some countries can never escape their third world status, doesn't it.
Sick
What do you expect? These spineless thugs lack integrity, just like our politicians. I
I'd ask if they're actually from those neighborhoods to begin with.
Once the shops shut down, then the only other target left are the citizens & homes… which is already bad.
If only there was some sort of....protected amendment people could use to protect themselves....

Where is Spiderman, Robo Cop, Superman, Iron man when needed ..???? 😢
the scary thing is, if these crooks don't fear the police. What do you think they're going to do to us? The regular people some to think about.

I don't think you can start a proper sentence with the word "period".
Furthermore, if you, as a good upstanding citizen, react against the looters, you will suffer the full power of the law. 😎 But New York has a brand.
@@DotDusk well the thieves have proven if you are wearing a mask and plain enough clothes you can do whatever you want so this is on the store owners for not sacking up.

This is what they want, everyone out then they own all the properties by 2029
God speed my friend. 🙏. I did same back in 2010 when Democrat Deblasio got elected. I knew NyC was going down. Best decision I ever made. Live in a farming town in North Florida. As a Hispanic, I’m living the life of “try that in a small town” ❤
And I'm thinking about moving overseas. I'm not from new york, but I'm noticing a problem here in the west coast too. America is never what it was dreamed to be by its four founding fathers
I'm stuck here another 10 or so, but I've only been here a little over 20 and I'd lived in the West so I know just how surreal it is (my wife, a Westchester native, insists that California is worse).
I'm hoping I'll be able to sell my house at 'break-even'.
Leaving in 3.5. Maybe sooner if we can’t take it any more but unfortunately the special education is better here.
