We were ROBBED not seeing Andrew Lincolns Rick react to and deal with the whisperers
I loved the exchange in the comics when Rick said to Negan: "Have you noticed how little you use profanity these days? Why do you think that is?" Negan replies with: "I don't see the point. Best to save energy." Rick says: "No, that's not it. It's because I've f***ing neutered you like a dog. You've got no more fight left, you pathetic sack of sh*t."
Would've been cool to see this in the show.
"Every walker is a Schrodinger walker" is the coolest sentence about season 9 I've ever heard lol
Honey, another episode of TWD Retrospective went up. Get the popcorn.
I was just about to light this blunt and I saw this video pop up.
Cannot wait to binge all of this
Based
Boss i can’t file that paperwork, there’s a new TWD Retrospective vid!
@@vincenta8652 ayo pas that shit here lol
I can't even imagine what the structuring for the script is like for these recent retrospectives with all the differences between the show and comics. So you deserve a whole bunch of credit for the effort you put into these videos!
I binged this entire comparison series under the impression you had covered the entire show and when i realized you hadn’t yet i was sad😪
Welcome to the game of waiting for the next upload to watch it immediately. We'll never leave
The long awaited episode has finally come. CANT WAIT
Lydia is the best. Wish she had more to do in the final season. And that they would’ve given her enough attention to remember she lost a hand at the end. Regardless, the actress that plays her does a bang up job and breaks my heart to see her go through so much trauma and turmoil. Her relationship with Negan is great as well, adds a lot of complexity and moral questions.
It’s a good day when korotos uploads a new twd retrospective
I stuck around when the moment the "walkers" started to whisper (mainly because of left 4 dead 2)
It just heightens the zombie threat even higher than when zombies first popped up.
Nathaniel pronounced Nuh-Than-Yull. Weird hearing someone not know it, since it’s my uncles name;D
28:17 i knew comics were dark but not that dark (like holy shit)
I cried when Jesus got killed off but later I understood why because Tom wanted to leave the show because the previous writer (Scott Gimple) didn't utilize his character enough.
I felt so much better when I met Tom Payne back in February at Creep I.E. Con 2023.
Jesus was always a treat in the comics, but most of his big cool comic moments had already passed by the time that his TV show actor wanted out. Jesus bodying Saviors and Negan solo was peak Badass Jesus imo
love to see a new koroto video
It's funny how the walkers actually ARE evolving now 😂
The morning I’m having I literally just cried seeing this here. Much needed comfort.
as someone who never read the comics it makes me furious to find out what jesus couldve been, he seemed like such a cool character when he was introduced but I quickly forgot about him
ok yeah it probably is one of THE most disturbing parts of the series esp with rosita....but i am so so excited to hear you talk about the border scene. it's so good. the moment i flipped that page when it first came out is burned in my mind forever
Wooden walls, because after all the years that they were there, plus all the home improvement stores and abandoned construction sites just laying around, nobody ever thought to build a STONE WALL. smmfh @ the so called "survivors" . Still a fan, but still. One thing Hilltop did right, was having a lot of trees cleared so they can see incoming threats early...BUT only cleared in the "front" though, leaving them wide open for infiltration and attack from behind and the sides. Still more than Alexandria did, with their dense forest on all sides, just inviting a sneak attack.
Love to see it!
I do have mixed feelings on the later use of the walkers. I do love that the majority of this series and franchise sticks by making the slow moving zombies the main threat when it comes to the dead. But honestly, had they known that the variant walkers would eventually be reimplemented into the show, the Whisperer arc wouldve been a great place to officially insert them (I say officially since there’s definitely some smaller moments throughout later season where the walkers might act a bit off that can now just be written off as a variant). Would’ve been cool to see the Whisperers even a little confused/shaken on why their reliable strategy with the dead is starting to work less 💯
I just marathoned this series and i love it, keep it up
Seeing Jesus get that death pissed me off SOOOOOOOO much. With Andrew Lincoln gone from the show i was fully expecting Jesus to get a much bigger role esp since he's so essential in the comics
The Whisperers' music had a little bit of the original Nightmare on Elm Street tone/ding to it.
It's gonna be a great watch, gotta bring some food, thanks for the quick upload
I love and appreciate your content so much! Your humour brings something really great to these retrospectives. Your work is great!
6:44 that edit, beautiful
The comics are sooooo much better I need to reread!!!
Love this series, I appreciate the amount of detail you go into with these
Thank you for this! Happy Monday!!
Totally awesome video bro. Thanks can’t wait for the next.
Henry was a piss poor remix for Carl. I don’t want to hate on the actor but they made Henry into a moron
One of the shows best mistakes was def killing carl
@@AKA_trent or Andrea’s characterization
That too she was way better in the comics
Please please please please don’t stop making these
NOT NOW BABE! KOROTOS JUST POSTED AGAIN!!!
just perfect timing with the upload right on my lunch break at work 👏🏼🔥
11:11 Just thought I'd mention, Nathaniel could be this guy from the construction crew, however on the wiki that's just fan speculation because the guy vanished after the war.
I was a monthly comic reader and a fan of the show who actually stopped at "the day will come when you won't be" bc by that point I was predicting every single way the comic was adapted and felt no need to watch the episodes when I got the predictions completely right too many times. I did eventually go back after RIP dropped and tried to get back into the show but was deeply dissapointed. Without even the shows added level of confusion bc of the whisperers showing up and then also introducing their completely nonsensical notion that walkers that had been decaying for 10 years somehow developed muscle mass and other upgrades mostly seen in the "of the dead" franchise. I almost stopped reading the comic for this reason. I thought if they're gonna make them super-zombies at this point I'm out. Thankfully, I kept reading and the whisperer reveal was one of the best ones in the series imo. Although I did almost drop it entirely right then and there. Unfortunately the show still revealed the whisperers but kept the zombie evolution bs. I mean come on guys this isn't l4d we're talking about here jeez.
Hey guys back at it again with another banger Walking Dead Retrospective
I just want to say that you have done an amazing job with this retrospective series. As someone who swore that they would never watch the walking dead from the age of 9 (this is because a dick in my school would go on about the show and would basically traumatise me for a long time until now)you have made me actual want to go and watch the show and read the comics. I can’t wait for the next video on this series.
I've been looking forward to this for a long time
I love these videos, man.
The Rosita thingy is the ONLY part of s9 that really annoyed me.
he’s uploaded. good thing i have leftover popcorn
Glenn’s death annoyed me in the show just because of how differently they could have done stuff, instead we got a cheap course correction with Abe’s death and the Glenn’s (non)surprise execution.
Abe should’ve been in season 6 finale
Saying carl went overboard when he attacked the boys like they didnt try to instantly kill is insane
Seriously. Those two not only attacked first but also choice the WORST victims possible. Both are children of group leaders. IMO their whole families would be lucky if they weren't exiled. Maggie was always a dog 💩 leader though. The show was a lot better before they gave them all little communities to run
She whispers it to make sure she says it for appearances. If she didn’t care she could have yelled it for all to see.
I’ve been looking forward to this.
hey korotos, you should definitely do a retrospective of Mr Robot, its a amazing show i think you would love to dive into if your willing 😊
YESSS PART 2 BABYYYYYYY
When you swapped Carl with Henry in the very beginning, I thought it was Walt jr for a sec.
sorry, i can’t come into work today boss. a new walking dead retrospective video came out
love the videos keep going I'd love to see a fear twd version
I didn't know that twd was a comic until i started watching your videos last year.
nah i agree, when i watched that s9 ep that ended with the walkers speaking i was soo mad, luckily i was watching later so didn't have to wait long to find out, but yeah variant walkers that can talk are a big no no and i was convinced for a sec that that was what the whisperers were
I’m a comic lover more than the shoe but the show is more accessible that at this point I keep on forgetting that Rick is around still in the comics at this point so I keep on getting excited that Rick will be involved in the whisper war even tho I knew he was going to be around. Ik pretty confusing and complex thinking lol. 😅
How does he make them so fast 🤯
I was thinking about the next video yesterday, couldn't be happier with this notification.
Keep up the great work friend, i know how much harder is going to be for you to keep comparing both adaptations with the rest of the Seasons lol but we'll be here patiently waiting for those 😊
This. This is the moment I quit the series, seeing Jesus die, just a few episodes after Rick, was too much for me to get behind (and also I was already logging of bc of the idea of a 9yo going on walker hunts)
My dad and I were thankfully able to keep my mom into the show when the whisperers where introduced because we assured her that the comics never had talking walkers...and then season 11 (world's beyond but we don't have amc+ so we can't watch it) introduced variants and hucked the standard shambler zombie out the window. The "don't let them get away" freaked us all out because while my dad and I both knew the contents of the comics that was only because his best friend kept up with them and I'm chronicley online and only caught up on them when the gap before the end of season 11 occurred.
Evolution is such a masterpiece of an episode and a great way to introduce the whisperers as the new villains. Abt the deaths, after the pikes, we didn't have a BIG character death till Rosita. Siddiq was a great character but wasn't as important. It really felt like the couldn't kill characters bc with mayor characters like Rick, Maggie and Michonne gone, they could'nt afford it
„Stabs Jesus in the back. (…) I never would have thought they‘d kill off Jesus.“
I mean… someone didn’t pay attention in sunday school. 😂
Not a fan of walking dead, I just love breakdowns. Yours are some of my favorites
I have a lot of mix feeling for that season, the first watch i had was good for me, but the season after that one... is the one who made me quit. I love what they did with Henry, yhea its not as good than Carl himself but seeing that story with a more ''innocent kid'' than Carl was interesting. Lydia was okay in the series. it was interesting at first, seeing her with a more human side. its not a bad thing because i don't know if the series would be capable to pull of a good disconnected character like the comics. I feel it would be cringy like Juanita (no offence to the actress, I do feel it was the writing that was bad)
But yhea.. the comics was far more well done at this point. Thank you again for that video, it was fun as always. I don't comment very often and i don't expect anyone to see it, but thanks again.
I am a hardcore fan of the Walking Dead- well.. shit.
I've never even watched Walking Dead, and I've been following this retrospective series this long?
What am I doing.
I'm glad that in both the comic and show the talking zombies turned out to just be a red herring, even if I dislike The Whisperer arc in both. I like the variant walkers introduced, because it does keep the threat of the literal Walking Dead very much real, but I feel like if the walkers could talk it would just be silly. I mean, if they're smart enough to speak, why not try reasoning with them?
The Whisperer Arc is the best Arc, change my mind.
Greatest series on CZcams
That fucking comic Jesus final stand. Is so fuckiiiing good. Big ups to the comics.
More please!!!
It's odd to think people started leaving the show because the walkers may have started evolving and speaking.
To be honest, I was on the opposite end of the spectrum and was super excited that the zombies were evolving.
That episode I found quite creepy and was on the edge of my seat in suspense which all culminated when Jesus was killed...
However, when it was revealed that it was just people in masks, I was disappointed.
And actually did stop watching for quite a few episodes.
Then what's even more annoying and a slap in the face was in the last 2 episodes of the series finale they did introduce evolved zombies that could climb walls and open doors, but at that point, I was just thinking, too little too late.
I pretty sure issue 144 is the fair.
Wait she licked- the wound- 😅 ok well ok-
I think Eugene's panic and logical explanation during said panic makes perfect sense. Sometimes when I am flushed at work, I break everything down to the lowest common denominator, and solve things with what we know. We know there is at bare minimum something going to the brain from S1. Eugene has always been, in his own way, logical. So for him to see something that for, 9!! Years compared to the comics' 2; that we all thought was impossible; being to all of a sudden have them "evolve," it was almost refreshing to see him react that way. I think it was also to make the French walkers more believable too. Josh kills it in every episode.
i lovee these vids 💛(:
I’m a big walking dead fan, never read the comics but still watched the show/played the games. I even stopped watching at Glenn’s death for a little bit just because of the heartache.
Carl Got The Dawg In Him
I can't believe it's 2023.. Where do the years go? Random ik
Whisper ark in the adaptation in my personal opinion my fav ark.
30 hours in 🤭🤭🤭 🎉🥳 Happy New year!!! 👍🏾👏🏾🫶🏾🙏🏾 Great research!!
Yeassss finally
Nathaniel is usually pronounced nuh thaan yuhl
Theres this zombie show in korea were all zombies or something like that and was on episode but i was told that you can control being a zombie if you arent scared of becoming of one and soon as my friend told me that i dropped it. Idky but that was so ridiculous and stupid so i get it if peeps would've dropped the show if walkers really did talk
Honestly I love the whisperers arc and I still watch it again and again
With the whole tales of the walking dead not making sense they have done this before with the “don’t dead open inside” door where in the webisode states that the doctor has been there for a few months and then that guy kills her and paints the door and this is very confusing cause where be Rick in this
Just so you know, You didnt lose 30% of the views on the rambling part
I stopped watching the show after Glenn died.. but I’m kinda curious as to how it all played out afterwards and how different the tv show is to the comics. So, I guess I’m somewhere between casual and hardcore
This is where I quit The walking dead, it was a culmination of all the characters that anchored me in dieing (Glenn, Carl, Rick, Maggie and Jesus) without any replacement coming together with a not so interesting story imo
Not to knock on your script or writing or what not, but I wouldnt classify myself as a hardcore fan of twd as I'm mainly just watching this as I watched overanalyzing aot and have watched twd so im just watching this cuz why not
Everyone stay fcking calm STAY CALM HE UPLOADED A NEW RETROSPECTIVE!!!!!!
I really wish we got Carl and Lydia in the show instead of Henry and Lydia
If they took out Jesus on Easter it probably would've saved the shows following lol.
The one time jesus wasn’t being a show off
Love this shit
idk why the hate with darabont's zombies, they're just a bit more special. nothing really mindbreaking.
they use objects, they remember events from their pasts and they're just a bit more fast. what's the deal, seriously. it just adds more to the world and makes twd more unique when compared with other zombie media.
I'd argue it's the complete opposite - it makes the TWD world more generic. Outside of TWD, can you name another modern ip where zombies are just dumb and slow? Every other ip out there incorporates special variants (L4D, Dying Light etc etc) or at least runners (World War Z, TLOU etc etc) - the core appeal of TWD for me was always that you could predict what the zombies would do and that's exactly what made those times where you are overwhelmed feel exciting. It's not a contrived situation where you are held up in a house and, surprise, a special zombie knocks down the door or something along those lines - every mistake is your own.
Also Darabont's pseudo-intelligent walkers are a straight rip from the Living Dead series btw.
All that said, with how TWDU is moving now, I've given up on any sort of consistent logic to the walkers and I'm just rolling with it. Variants, specials, volatiles - sure, why not. 😅
@@Koroto i'm just saying they were not variants back then, they were just how the show portrayed their version of zombies. first season walkers were still dumb, just a bit more unique. l4d, dying light and tlou incorporate special variants for the sake of enhancing the gameplay, and they're actually really special when compared to the common infected/zombie type.
first season walkers were just a bit more weirder, nothing really special as i said. one or two of them were not really a problem, and the hordes were still the major threat. skilled characters still managed to kill them really easily. i just think it added a really good narrative point for drama, due to them remembering bits from their past lifes.
Lydia was one of my favorite characters on the show. I just connected with her. Maybe it's the trauma or the lack of love. But I miss her and hope she comes back.
Glenn died under a dumpster
When you finally get around to season 11
May god have mercy on your soul
I was mad about Jesus dying
honestly the walkers evolving was the best thing ive ever heard till it turned out these were lame humans waring skin lol
sad
