I went with the 1794. Magnetic Grey Metallic, saddle tan interior with the AVS air suspension. I really struggled at first between the Platinum and 1794. I like the exterior of the Platinum and interior of the 1794. I felt like I spend my quality time IN my truck not outside of it and that saddle tan is the best imho.

Its a $3,300 option that will someday require repairs at a additional cost. There is a definite difference...its a nuance. Continuously variable damping suspensions are a great idea...on racing cars & HIGH-end luxury performance cars.
I can recall M-B's whose owners complained of coffee burns inflicted upon them while sitting still at a traffic light, then having 1 corner of their car suddenly drop...VIOLENTLY causing ruined clothing and hot coffee burns.

I love the Platinum and 1794 but 1794 became available to me first in April 2022 so I purchased 1794. I have been very pleased with my 1794 truck. I have close to 10,000 miles on it with no issues so far other than a couple of recall notices that were quickly taken care of by the Toyota dealer. You can't go wrong with either trim level.

Jon, thanks to your videos and insight, I’m about to place my order finally and I’m going with the Platinum Supersonic Red with the TRD Off Road package and I’m stoked!! At first I was wanting a TRD pro but I hated the tech camo everywhere plus they don’t offer it in any colors I’d like and I saw your video suggesting getting a Platinum with the TRD OR package and it made total sense! I love the interior of the Platinum . Thanks for your insight to help us decide. It’s greatly appreciated.

I had both - I started with a 2022 midnight black 1794 (Hybrid) and switched up for a windchill pearl platinum (also hybrid). The 1794 was great but I'm not a fan of Chrome like that. The Tan interior on the 1794 was also very nice but I'm not for that Texas luxury style. The interior on the platinum with the metal finishes and the black with blue stitching really did it for me. I will say that the custom floor mats on the 1794 were awesome and I wish the Platinum had something similar.

The 1794’s interior and TRD Off Road package with the Platinum exterior. I love the more Cowboy 🤠 western theme interior vs another sea of black on black (although I do appreciate the blue stitching 🧵) interior. I'm sorry but I don't see enuf "cowboy" influenced styling to get up about.
I live in Texas, HOME of the Dallas ( Arlington ) COWBOYS.
Their colors are Blue & Silver.
To tell you the truth, there are few cowboys around much unless there is a rodeo, or a horse show, or the Texas State Fair/Ft Worth Livestock Show & Rodeo going on, so don't fret none.
I do like the new Saddle Tan... LESS ORANGY that the 2014 1794.
That stitching and taupe accent strips do not mean "cowboy" to me.
      The wood either.

The 1794 in this video is my truck, except that mine has the 6.5’ bed and the “cream” leather seating and trim.
I would have preferred the saddle color, but a year ago I was lucky to even find the one I got for close to MSRP thanks to a customer that backed out of a deal on the last day of June (sales number crunch).
The cream leather has held up well over the first year and nearly 15,000 miles. No discoloration, jean color transfer, etc. The seats have been durable and comfortable which was one the reasons I chose this trim, along with the load leveling suspension. This suspension has made our ~8,000 lb trailer towing very manageable.

I wonder if Toyota decided to leave off the TRD Off-road package on the Platinum because it would then overshadow the TRD Pro. Nicer interior, black headliner, body color mirrors and handles, no chrome. All it’s missing is a proper coilover lift and 35’s.

I've said several times that the Platinum 2022+ Tundra is exactly what the Batmobile would be if it were a truck, driven by the Kevin Conroy Batman (RIP). I would want that, except in the summer that interior would be unbearably hot here. Until Toyota starts to offer the TRD off-road package on the Platinum model then it’s a non starter for me and many others I would guess.

I got the platinum. Hated the interior of the 1974. The black seats matching the black interior with the blue stitching and blue ambient lights just is more aesthetically pleasing to me. Wish it had crawl control, but does it matter if you air down your tires while beach driving? Not really

If I do decide to get a tundra within a couple years I’ll probably opt for a mid grade tundra until they do a refresh model. Once the refresh model is out, my guess within 3-6 years, I’ll opt for one of the higher models, trd pro or capstone. Just too many flaws with this model, squeaky interior, noise issues, and subpar fit and finishes in some areas. Hopefully by the refresh they’ll address those issues.

I initially wanted the Platinum but after comparing it with the Limited, there just wasn’t that much of difference for the price. Though I did switch out the front grill to a TRD Pro grill. Love my Limited!
