I appreciate so much that you posted this video! Your words resonated with me greatly because I feel that I am pretty much in the same boat as you. I find that the hardest part is trying to do things that make me happy and in my own pace and knowing that it might disappoint my family and friends. I'm 26 as well and still haven't gotten my life "together" in my family and friends eyes. Honestly, it does bother me that I see everyone moving on with their lives, having careers, starting their own families, etc...
But then as you said in your video, do I intend to do all of those things because I know that's what I want to make me happy or is it because I just want to be like everyone else and have them finally "approve" of me.
Thank you for this video and for your honesty. It makes me feel less alone to hear actual words coming from someone who is experiencing similar things that I am.
I have been a subscriber to your channel for 2 or 3 years now and I must say, you probably are the most down to earth and genuine person I have watched. I'm so sorry you have to deal with these kinds of immature people. I just want you to know that I think you look gorgeous, with and without makeup, and you seem like a beautiful person on the inside too, so that's even better. Next, you should never lose weight because ''you're supposed to'', or because you're supposed to look a certain way and be a certain way because you don't. You're not supposed to be anything but whatever you want to be. You literally design your own life, so be what you want yourself to be if that makes you happy :)

Angela, thank you for sharing this with all of us. I know I've felt like I've had to have my whole life planned out and your definitely right sometimes it doesn't always go as you think it will or should go. I'm currently finishing college at the moment and I have a year and a half left and I'm already freaking out just the thought of being done with college and going out to the real world. These past couple of weeks I've done a lot of thinking too and I'm slowly realizing that it's okay if things don't go as planned. Just keep moving forward and let the pieces fall into place when they're ready. I loved your video and I'm pretty sure you are definitely helping others by sharing your story :)

Stay positive, Angela. I used to be skinny in my teenage days coz I had a very active lifestyle but after having my son, I gained 50 lbs! I wasn't able to shake that weight off till now (my boy is already 9). I was born and raised in Japan so somehow I think I can relate. The "judgment" you'll get from being overweight is so terrible. Not from all but like 90% would view people with our weight as if we're different species. I can totally relate to that. I used to be insecure of my weight too. But now, I realized to not care about whatever they say. They can judge all they want but whatever they say doesn't make us less of a person. Weight can never define a person. You are beautiful in your own way, you don't have to be skinny to be beautiful. Don't give a shit to what the ignorant and immature people say. I support you. Just be yourself, I'm proud of you coz you touch, help and brighten many lives all throughout the world by being yourself. (You didn't even need to lose weight just to do that much.) Always remember that we love and accept you the way you are. You don't have to change to please them. Live your life happily. Fighting! 💝

The first video I watched of yours was way back, around 5 years back maybe which was "how to cut your bangs".And today out of nowhere your video is shown on my feed. Surprisingly i could still recognize you after these long years. I still remember that first video and sometimes i even thought of searching your channel even though I didn't know your channel name. Feels good to watch your video again after so long :) Also i can so relate to this. Being constantly called fat, that feeling of being the odd one in the group, that stress to lose weight and look good 😭 i still do face and deal with that. Even though i was not grown as a chubby kid but somehow ended being chubby and fat at the end so i can so feel and relate to whatever you are saying. Watching this video has motivated and inspired me a bit to love myself and accept myself the way i am and there's nothing wrong with it. Thank you for the encouraging words. I love this video! I have been watching your videos for many years now and I truly thought that you were very pretty! Like you said, it is smart not to pay attention to somebody who is ignorant and ridiculously rude! It doesn't help when I'm an emotional eater too which has resulted in my weight fluctuating the past couple years due to stress and a wide range of emotions. I really enjoyed this video, so thank you so much for posting. My whole life has been everyone trying to get me to lose weight or everyone talking about my weight... as a matter of fact one of my family members spread a rumor I had gastric bypass so everyone has been watching me to see if I lose weight well guess what I'm not going to because I actually had hernia surgery lol so they are watching for no reason! I fluctuate just like any other person out there and I have come to the conclusion that you just have to ignore people and like you said, just do you! You are such a beautiful person and I hope your video will teach people to be careful what they say because you never know who is watching/reading and how low in life that person may be. Not everyone has thick skin and that small ignorant comment that one may think is really no big deal may just push that person over the edge. I also hope it will help people with a low self esteem to ignore the ignorance! We all just need to stop shaming people and just respect each other as human beings!
Why would they start a rumor like that?! But then again.. I can totally relate. Gossip runs FAST. When I went to visit family I haven't seen in YEARS I heard so many rumors about me.. like where did you even hear that or think of that?! They were ridiculous!
I just want to say that your words are one of the most candid and wise words regarding weight.
a lot of people give sdvice, but their words don't seem to be as helpful as yours.
also, I've been through practically every diet myself, and counting calories (weight watchers is similar ) seems to work best for me too.
you are such a positive person, it makes me want to be less pressured to lose weight too
what I also realized over the years of trying to lose weight is that there is NO shortcut. fad diets won't work.
it all comes down to portion control and exercise, unless you are born with a higher metabolism lol
also we all age and grow old. being to beautiful and slim, would that honestly matter when we are old and wrinkly?
health comes first. as long as you are healthy, weight is secondary, that's what I learned

Angela, I have watch and follow so many youtubers, and I have been doing this for more than 6 years. I have to say that you are my number one person on the internet, and I look up to you. I have never struggled with weight problems but I have had so many insecurities before and I still have now. And I admire you so much for exposing yourself, talking about your own insecurities and I see that you have evolved so much.

Your rant reminded me of myself. I grew. up being fat. I'm still fat. It doesn't bother me like it used to. Before I had no confidence and low self esteem. I wanted to be skinny. But I was too much of an stress eater and ate when I was bored. I'm turning 23 soon. I changed my major in college . Now I'm re thinking it. Do I actually want to study this? uhhh the struggle. Hey Angela, I just wanna say that I've also been watching your videos for many years now, like a lot of us here have. I watched your videos when you were "thinner", I stayed subscribed during your long hiatus, and I also watched your first video when you decided to come back to youtube and open up about why you were away for so long. I remember thinking, wow she is brave to be able to show the world who she is even though her appearance has changed. That is something I would not be able to do. I looked up to you, and I support you regardless of your weight. I want to let you know that you are not some "rare species", I'm also just like you. I've struggled with weight for as long as I can remember and during a single year, my clothes size can go from small to large to small. I've tried unhealthy ways of losing weight, I've excised until I know I've burned all the food I consumed that day, and it worked, but I drove myself insane. All for what? All because I wanted to fit in to the stereotype that Asian girls are supposed to be petite and thin and cute and wear size S or XS. But you know what? I can never be that way. First off, I'm 5'8" and amongst my friends, I'm like a giant. But what can do I?? Cut off my legs?? I'm very fortunate to have a loving partner who accepts me for the way I am even though I know his friends always wonder why he doesn't like the "typical" Asian girl. I guess I just want to say that, just like my bf is my biggest support, I want to be that support for you as well (although I can probably never replace that body pillow of yours haha). Keep striving for a healthier you, at your own pace. But even if your a balloon, I'll still be your follower.

I too am Korean and went through some dramatic things with family and my weight issues but as I grow older I realized it's ok to ignore ignorant family members who constantly bash you and make u feel like crap! Don't worry girl..you're still gorgeous and have a beautiful heart :)

Growing up my korean family were pretty hard on me. I also know that they just speak what's in their mind and sometimes (most of the time) without a filter. They would be hard on me because of my weight. I can't remember how old i was exactly but i had seen one of my aunties at a funeral and the only thing she had to say to me was i wouldn't recognize you if i seen you walking down the street. Now i rarely got to see them and that's all she had to say?? It really made me sad. People don't think how things they say will affect others and it's sad. Just know i think you are beautiful and i just literally started watching your videos yesterday and you made me laugh. I loved your videos. again, so long as you are happy, forget what stupid people think or say. They are not happy in their own lives so they have to try to make others miserable.

Same here. I'm a "fat chinese" girl, I'm using the "" because I don't really think I;m that chubby, but I'm not as skinny as the mainstream girls now a days. I've always been the bigger girl too. Always. But now I don't really care anymore. Just rock it girl!!! You are pretty, lady!!! I was watching food vids and saw this vid of yours and I really wanted to watch it. Big or not big, if you feel comfy and feel okay with yourself, be confident and love yourself, who cares! Doesn't matter what people think. What matters is how you feel about yourself!! I have learned that if you feel confident, you'll be so much happier and care less!

Angela, thank you so much for posting this video. I've never been that "typical skinny asian girl" growing up either. In fact, I remember in middle school, a kid pointed out that I was the only Asian girl who was fat... I was truly hurt... I'm currently in college now and I am learning so much about the standards of beauty that we are creating in this world. And it is up to us to change the culture of beauty. But most of all, I'm learning how to love myself more and more everyday. And remembering that I am created beautifully and perfectly by our Creator. We are the apple of His eye. Kids can be cruel and have no filter whatsoever. It's sad to see that. I feel like it's even worse now than before. They are more ruthless. I don't think our pop culture these days help that either. :( But college was a lot better because (for the most part) you're growing, learning, and being more mature. You are such a beautiful person! I'm Korean too and was born there. I live in US now and used to be really chubby until the end of college. And when I visited Korea, I was so criticized by my weight. I wish that wasn't such an issue. The funny thing was I was such a confident girl even though I was overweight but ya comments can crush you and make you second guess yourself. I think it's best to love yourself and f** those negative people around you. I'm also the same age as you and my life didn't even come close to how I imagined and took me a long time to accept that. And now, I don't care what people think. I've been watching you for a long time and don't let those type of comments stop you! Love watching your videos!

I struggle with my weight and I did the same thing in college. My family members always pointed out how I'm not typical (meaning small boned, thin, pale skin). With age I've learned that to focus on overall health body and mental and that treating yourself with kindness is better than abusing your being. Others place their desires or insecurities upon you all the time; however, if you love yourself you'll know that what should matter are what you want out of life.

Everyone has their own insecurities , don't let the insecurities reflect on you . Especially in Asia, where I came from . People has this life standard that they gonna apply to everyone . Oh man, I am so thankful for you ~ I can relate SO much. I am also Korean, but I struggle with family because they always bother me about my physical appearance.... I am a bit chubbier, and every single day I just hear about how I am not skinny enough, not tall enough, my nose is tooo flat and my eyes are monolid. It is like they don't even care that I am a hardworking and obedient girl or anything... they only talk about my weight and it is stressful and annoying. They even said they would pay for me to have plastic surgery :/ hard life of a Korean girl.
I totally understand, I've always been the bigger girl with my friends and my family. But I just wanna say that you're always good enough! And YOU ARE SO CUTE!
