Who is the best bot in Rocket League? Boomer? Gerwin? Rex? Today we try to settle that debate by looking at some of the craziest Rocket League Bot goals ever scored. This video is separated into 2 sections: In the first top 10 list I cover rare examples of Psyonix AI scoring Double Taps, Kuxir Pinches, and even Aerial Goals. And in the second top 10 we will focus on custom Rocket League Bots as the RLBot community has developed Rocket League AI that can Musty Flick, Ceiling Pinch and even Flip Reset.

I love the bots. They often play better than real players. Even though they mostly don't know how defense works. Now I'm happy bots aren't in ranked. Holy smokes, Rex is a GOAT!

I am a bot connoisseur, and Rex is pretty mid tier, Myrtle is really consistent, Merlin has some wizardry to him, Fury is an absolute bully, Hollywood is great at sniping, and Wolfman is really great at dunks
and yep, Boomer has some goatedness to him. There's this bot team called the Cyclones that is absolutely cracked at defending, and then they score the dumbest own goal youve ever seen
i'm not entirely sure but i've always assumed they behave (roughly) the same and the names+cars are just a fun cosmetic detail.
could you maybe observe the bots very closely and look for styles of play correlating to their identity?
my favorites are the octane bots, so like, gerwin, myrtle, rainmaker, probably some others i am missing
c-block once gave me a winning game too so he is cool
Do u have any info on TeX cause from what I've noticed it provides great assist but on defense ull see it doing nothing but parking it's dumbass at the post and not moving but anyway I like it cause I have chemistry with it

I was in a season with Hollywood and Dude on my team, he is lovely at sniping, I can confirm. Also Fury, Fury one game for me got 5 goals, 2 assists, 3 saves, 8 shots. Like 1K points.
Tex is a good teammate. He's a good defensive player and is aggressive sometimes. I remember when he got 3 goals without me and the other bot helping him.
back in the early days, 2015, early 2016 I had frequent Internet problems so I could only play season mode. There was one bot that gave me great trouble, Myrtle. All other bots were no issue but against myrtle, I struggled. makes we wonder if there's actual differences in bot playstyles
You're the only person I've ever seen mention Myrtle's name in a positive light. hahaha

when i played with bots years ago, whenever the bot team had two by the close kickoff spawn they almost always got an insane pinch into the top of my goal because they would get to the ball at the exact same time. it was almost impossible to stop

I don't remember which bot it was, but I was playing competitive 2s with my friend (both in Plat 2) and the bot got more impressive flicks than I ever could

I always enjoy hosting bot private matches with 10x unlimited boost and low gravity and just watch the boys go wild. They aerial accidentally from time to time as well
Rocket league players at the beginning don't care about how tex does a 180 powerslide save, but we're wondering why merlin is a merc not a paladin
Actually both bots in that clip are not their usual cars. Someone pointed it out to me a while ago. I dont know what to say in explanation as the clip is mine, from a replay in which I was getting some random bot footage in a private match. I still have the replay file. I can only assume BakkesMod settings altered the cars for some reason.

The boys showing the new player the game… it was like they were in the wild and happen to catch a bot mating Ritual. But what they didn’t know…. It was a distraction play Mimicking a natural mating ritual.
I have an old clip of bot lobby where all the bots stopped and gathered around the ball and just kept watching it
I was Able to get a free goal when i first joined a match late and exactly when the bot was about to touch the ball, i spawned and hit the ball into the goal. Thanks merlin!

Cool vid idea that u might find more difference than you think. Morning players vs Night players. Night players are all mechanics and morning players use there brain and I think morning players would destroy nighttime players
I have a replay somewhere we a bot defends a ceiling shot (and not a bad ceiling shot) so I think that's actually better than all clips in this video (except for the custom bots ofcourse) xd

I personally play the Exhibition unfair 1v4 and I hit an insane half field psycho, but I have never seen a bot hit any good shot. Time to grind until they hit something I guess.

Can anyone explain why the AI does the "wall humping" i cant understand why the code would make the car do that movement?
Well they don't generally back up very far before turning around, and so they try to turn around normally (steer right/left) when they back down the wall. Once they back down far enough, they they try to turn, but go up the wall again, repeating the process.

I know people say the bots are bronze but I disagree hard. They and literally read the ball's direction down to a few frames so they will prejump your cuts all the time.

Abot is a lot like most Plat players, always going for every single possible aerial, the only difference is that it actually hits the ball.
