I like how you presented all of this. I play RL like I played hockey. Never stand still, close the defensive gap, watch for your team. One thing I want to stop seeing with everything you said is if there's a struggle in the corner that it's better to keep two guys on your post and one guy fighting, instead adding another body more likely for a random pinch and leaving one last line of defense alone

Hey, luke can you post the video about how to waste less boost? Because when i watching my replays i realised, that my boost tank after every play in air is fully empty, even if i'm not doing long air dribble or something, that's need that amount of boost usage

Love your videos! I'm in diamond for 2s and 3s and plat for 1s I feel like I'm not being aggressive enough most times but most of your videos say people at my rank are too close/aggressive. Been struggling with this.

I am in c3 to gc1 and I look at some replays from my diamond days and I realize that u can let people challenge so many things and it will just give u a free possession. At lower ranks don’t be too scared of shots and find a middle ground between ball chasing and passive play. Ball chasing is sometimes the best thing u can ever do

How do i change the controller shortcuts in freeplay? Been struggling to improve in air dribbles because the ball just shoots or resets when i don't want to.
you need rebind it in setting is downnnnn the last fews things down you will check a conflict with your RB/R1 LB/L1 just set another key and there u have it !

Yo Luke, would love to see some info on what to do with wall challenges. I notice I get beat a lot on walls and I can't figure out how to do it safely. If I flip off the wall I'm just flying into their net if I miss so I'm usually just not even going for them anymore. Should you even challenge going up the wall?
Not that I'm an expert, but maybe it could help? I've noticed with wall plays (each is a little different) that slowing down and making sure you know when to jump in accordination of when the ball starts going back down is huge. And try not to flip into the ball, use your normal jump for the touch and try to follow with boost and your second jump. If you mess up you can do a backflip right away and get back into the play way faster than normal
Also if you got your path planned, jump up to the wall, don't drive up, huge difference in beating someone
If you get around to it you should see about doing a tutorial on Musty and Breezi Flicks on the ground and 8n the air. I need help coordinating the setup and timing for executing Musty flicks.

I'm very low ranked in 1v1 rank and 3v3 casual, when I play 3v3 I quick chat on kickoff countdown "I got it"/"take the shot" for going for kickoff/rotating to the own corner boost, and this is like bronze/sliver casual matches.

Im definitely guilty of the car-switching when I have off games. Dominus hit box is my main choice, but I also play a dumb esper sometimes as my feel good meme car bc hehe Esbrrrrrr. But, often times when I get bad tilt I blame my car and the "bad car juju." Sometimes I'll think its the hitbox itself and switch for octane/breakout, only to then hate it later bc im not used to the shorter, taller hitbox (nor do I like it.) I'll miss things that I normally would have hit had I been in the car I was most comfortable with... and naturally that makes the tilt all the more spicy. :]
Honestly its like... somewhat gratifying that it was a common enough behavior to get brought up? Its nice to feel like I'm not the only one who blames off days on cosmetic choice lmao

Whenever I hear "don't try .. mechanic" in a video:
there's two goals (heh): to rank up, but also to get better.
Every game is also training for the next.
I ranked up fast by only doing what is smart and what I'm good at. But then you find yourself at a rank where you're outclassed.
better go for those not-best choices and learn from them at a rank where you can take the risk. because after you rank up is even less the time to do try to learn them.
So mix in wavedashing across the field, fast airial too many balls, flick too many balls, etc if the rank and score permit it (and you're not in ranked :p)
What about a rule one? Do those not matter anymore?

Everytime I solo que in 3s (c2) I get teammates that constantly boom the ball every moment they cant and give up possession. How can I win matches when it seems like I can't even go a second without losing posession
All I could recommend is break some of rules that these tutorials suggest that you follow, and find ways to score while doing so. You are going to lose games, and really piss people off while doing this, but you have to do whatever you need to do to get to the ranks where it’s expected of everyone to do basic things like never give up possession for free. This sounds sooo counter productive, but if you are solo queuing, and this is what you truly believe is holding you back, then do what you need to do. Rotate ball side, and when you see that your teammate is about to clear a ball, just drive up the wall and prep to redirect their clear towards the net, or at minimum, make it uncomfortable for the other team to commit on any sort of threatening play during that moment. If you are solo queuing, which is all that I do, then you are going to HAVE to be pretty consistent in the air or be able to create your own plays with solid ground ground/dribbl/flicks/low 50s that lead to goals in order reach the ranks where your solo queue team will have the intent with each play that you are looking for. Train and play to be comfortable in the air defensively and offensively if you aren’t already, this will come in handy if your team gives up possession frequently enough to where you are able to predict it.. create chaos if you need to.. embrace the idea that you are going to have to do it yourself at least half of the time to get to the point where the majority of players are aware of what they are doing, and why they are doing it. You are going to look dumb a lot, but learn from it, expect it. Or party up with people who are looking to get better, and help each other grow. Speed will be your best friend to get you out of champ.. cut rotations, break some rules, don’t be toxic, take control.
Another thing to consider is it may not be an issue where they aren’t aware that they are giving up possession for free.. We all can agree that there are times to just clear that bad boy and reset.. the other team may be boost starving your team, or maybe even you could be doing it unknowingly.. try to figure out what your team is comfortable playstyle wise, and create that environment, but at some point your are going to have to flick the switch and stop letting them hold you back if that’s what’s happening
You just have to defend more honestly. And when the ball is yours don’t throw away possession
