Great new content…it’s one thing to read in a forum a recipe for horsepower, it’s a whole lot better when someone such as yourself brings it to life. Thank you so very much, hopefully this livens up our 2V community. Take care my brother.
Too many 2v owners have dismissed the motor because they either don't have the time, money or knowledge to build them well
@@WarriorOfEden3033I agree I have neither the knowledge or money.
Would be nice if I can secretly build my dads 03 expedition
@@ciscoh1 build over time, save for quality parts & talk to people with more experience with the motor. Don’t listen to people who build junkyard parts bin cars or dismiss the engine entirely. BST is really good at building junkyard cars that run but ask him about performance mods on the 4.6 & he will tell you boost or nothing. Nothing wrong with boost but FBO, ported heads & cams you can see 400hp easily before boost
Just in time to rebuild a 4.6 2v for the first time. Thank you for taking the time to show us this build.
This why I've been subscribed to your channel for so long. This is going to be a great build and the fact that you're using gen 2 coyote/boss rods is why it's great. I've been asking about using them for years and nobodys made a video showing how.
I mean they're the same size they drop right in on any 4.6 engine.
I LOVE this. I love your old videos so much because they're so much more relatable to me, so doing something like this more on my power/budget level really excites me.
This is going to be an excellent project to follow. Can't wait for part 2 !
I appreciate all the work you’re putting in man. You’ve motivated me to build a explorer block 2v 4.6
Great content. As a novice thinking of doing a similar build, this is exactly what i wanted to see. Thank you.
Awesome man. Getting ready to start a similar build. Keep the content coming!
Very excited for this build! I am doing nearly the exact same build myself and am looking forward to your tips and tricks. Im just waiting on pistons at the moment.
He'll yea!! Appreciate dropping this new content, keep'em coming
This is cool! I'm really more interested in street car type builds so this is right up my alley lol
Need a part 2!
I'm ready to put a kenne bell 2.1 on my 03 Gt so I can't wait for this build!
Can’t wait for part 2!
Andrew ive watched your videos from the beginning and i love all of them i own an 03 dark shadow grey gt with bolt ons and i in love for 6 years with my gt it is so much fun to drive and your vids inspire me so much im 67 and this car makes me feel like a kid again she will bury the150 spedo i would love to live next door to you we would be such good friends a maybe you could help me make mine faster .well just dreaming
Ty for all the great vids and please dont quit making them .
I'm one of those regular guys. Thanks for the content.
Cant wait to see this build im also running a torktech kit we see each other every year at mod nationals see you in a few weeks lol
Im so late on this freakin video but im glad i got to see this. I was actually pulling down a 98 cobra 4.6 4v for my sn95 and as soon as i pulled the timing chain tensioners and relieved that pressure i revealed a cracked forged crank and after that i kinda switched gears and decided to build a 351w i have sitting on my other engine stand. I had bought a brand new set of molnar pwr addr forged rods ill probably end up selling to go towards the 351 build. I love seeing simplified builds like this that make decent power. Cant wait to see the rest of the process bro 🐎💪🏽
Yeah the Windsor is my favorite Ford engine of all time
Looking really forward to this series and patiently waiting on episode 2!!! Currently rebuilding my saleen supercharged 2v
I’ve been contemplating on building the motor in my 02 Saleen sc. Thinking about all forged internals, automatic trans, fuel system, and turbo. She only has 38,000 miles so I don’t know. Thought about putting a Godzilla in it. I mean why not ?
@@tatersmith9544If I were you I would buy a gt with a blown motor for the godzilla swap, don’t mess up your saleen those are too sweet to molest!
Super excited about this build! I think this will be very relevant for many of us 2V guys. Surprised to see no valve reliefs? I thought they were pretty much required for all but the mildest of aftermarket camshafts???
Keep up the awesome content. And I’m gonna say I don’t think ur car isn’t unreliable. There are a few things I don’t plan to do(maybe🤪) but to me still awesome. But this is gonna be an awesome series. Keep it up.
I'm told 700hp was the safe zone? Very cool .
Can't wait to see more this inspiring me to build my sn95 with a mod motor.
Yes, Mod motor..
Mod motors are easy to get power from especially boosted the stock rods just aren't that strong it's a pretty easy fix with a rod and pistons swap especially with a 4v which had forged cranks. People act like you gotta do all kinds of stuff to make a mod motor make and take power but that is totally false.. you gotta do more than a coyote to make coyote power but the engine is also much cheaper to start especially if you already have said engine in your car. I'm thinking about coyote swapping my 97 cobra simply because I want to make 500 to the wheels all motor turning 8k that is alot easier to achieve with less modding with a coyote. If I was just gonna do a 500-600 or so rwhp boosted build like alot of guys do (I already got a big power boosted 07 gt500 i want the cobra to be an all motor twisties build) I would simply do boss rods and 10:1 forged pistons with cams and headers it would make good power pretty easy with forced induction. I still may do a budget 4v build with a centri I haven't 100% made up my mind.
Part 2 please 😊
Cool project please show us as much as you can. I had heard of using coyote rods but didn’t get much detail.
Thank you Andrew ! Look forward to this ! Will this build also work with a turbo as well as the super charger ?
when does part 2 roll out?
Is there a second part to this video? Would love to see its progress or finished.
Love the Content Andrew, thanks for sharing.
Nice!! had no idea the yote rods were same size as Mod motor!!
A coyote is a big bore 4.6 with high compression and rpm plus alot more tech like tivct.
I am using Gen 2 Coyote Rods for my Mach 1 build. I plan on 600+ from it.
Lets get some more content on this!
Hey Andrew, when is part 2 coming out? I just bought another 4.6 short block an I'm on this long road ahead build 😅
Can't wait till I have the money to do this to my grand marquis
When is part 2 coming I’m following????
Where’s part 2 fam?
Nice brother, I have a 03 Crown Vic P71
. I am starting to building but it's a iron block. Is a prob making 5 to 600 with this at 20 over?. I love the sound of a 2 valve. I plan on turbo charging her. I've been told by Vs Racing to run a 7875 .96 ar. I hope that's correct. Love the content brother.
Looking forward to it…. I didn’t even know coyote rods were the same length as the 2V..
Coyote is the final form of the mod motors
@WarriorOfEden3033 it's not really a mod motor though nothing else is interchangeable on them like cams and heads and intake manifolds etc. The rods are the same because it's based on the 4.6 but larger bore but it isn't actually part of the 4.6 family the 5.4/5.8 4v engines in 07-14 gt500s are mod motors just like the old 4.6 and 5.4 2v 3v and 4v and they all share the same firing order with the windsors. The coyote is a diff engine family but does have the same length rods as the old 4.6.
I'm very interested in this build. I would like to try it with a 4V. Budget '03-'04 Cobra supercharger engine for a road racing street car.
what trans are you gonna put behind? this is gonna be awesome
Are the DSS pistons SX or FX series? Looking to do something similar in the future thanks for the video!
You mentioned the pins for the chain guides, do you think the tensioners NEED to be modified for a 2 step? I ask cause I personally didn't do that, I do have the pins and secondary accufab chains, b head setup
2 Questions: 1. Is that Manley box, Manley rings for the DSS Pistons? 2. Are the coyote rods going to be using ARP bolts as well or use the factory bolts?
When is the release date for part 2
I bet about 5,000 people ordered them some coyote rods over the last 13 days. I am ready for part 2, 3, and 4 on this. I know I'm a little late but I have too ask... What do you recommend more, a turbo, or supercharger, and why. Also, do you ever mess with nitrous?
I was looking for more progress on this build, am I missing something or did it never happen?
What machine shop u using , KY, TN? For engine , are they familiar with mod motors
Was there ever a part 2 on this?
Where did you order the dad pistons from, what is the dish, what rings are you gonna use.
I'd like to do this build with my Towncar!! Cool stuff!!👍👍
Aside from the increase in cost, what do you think about forged 3.750” stroke / 5.850” rods shorter compression height?
Is the longer stroke an issue?
I want to build mine but idk how and theres no part 2 to help me learn
What fuel are y’all planning on running with that CR and blower?
How much total would you say this build costs (not including stock components that would come with the engine)?
Will those Dss pistons be ideal with 2.5 blower or turbocharger cams
Any updates on this build? Trying to do the same build for my 2v
Andrew, i have a question if you could help me out, I have 4.6L 2v stock heads non pi with stage 5 comp cams extreme energy and I want to build the bottom end and get my compression up. What would you recommend? Parts/brands. Thanks in advance 🎉
My build is similar
Stock 6 bolt crank
Gen 2 coyote rods
Diamond flat tops 12.3 CR
250 shot
Next will be some ported PI heads
But for now I’m shooting for low 12s NA and mid 10s on nitrous
How much were the pistons?
I'm looking to build a budget 600hp 2v motor. Are manley rods better than Gen 2 coyote rods? How do I size Gen 2 rods to a GT 6 bolt crank?
@@donaldjohnson4570they are but they also cost more. The coyote rods are fine up to 700+ wheel.
How's part 2 coming along?
I want to rebuild my 03 I’ve got cams and larger trickflow plenum I was thinking of the eagle complete forged rotating assembly what are your thoughts? And what am I looking at for install costs of such an endeavor. I don’t trust myself do do it I’ve never pulled a motor and done anything like this.
do you have the part number for the main studs and side bolts
I’m lookin for a setup like this (minus the boost for now) for my crown Vic I have a spare 2v sittin waitin to be built tryin to be around 450-500 for a little while then maybe push more later down the road just somethin nice for a street car to roll around in
500 wheel is so easy to achieve with even a 2v. Boss rods and you can hold 500 wheel easy imo with a good tune. I would also do forged pistons but the crank is good to at least 600 wheel.
Will those pistons fit in a 95 block 4.6?
How much boost do you plan on making
Following
Is the block bored over
Any reason you went with out valve reliefs in the pistons? I have a very similar setup in my car now but with a procharger also planning on doing drag week stuff with it.
How much boost and power are you making with that bad boy ?
Could I use this setup with a cobra crankshaft?
Wet blocks?
Part 2?
How much would a build like this cost minus the supercharger ? Want to build my 4.6 to 600-750 safe on 93 if possible I have a 4.6 in my car rn and I have a spare 4.6 in my garage that I’d like to start building I have money saved up for it already I have a whipple 2.3 in my garage that I got off a buddie that will be put on once I build the motor
What would you say would be total cost to have this built by someone using these parts?
I want to build my 2v 4.6 in my Thunderbird lx I want more power to knock some socks off people and still drive it on the road how much would that cost and where should I send it
I have been waiting almost a year I’m starting to think this money should go towards a swap
What would street price be to be to get to this power
Do u tune 2v
Very cool project. Any reason for going with a PDB over a Turbo?
Just his personal preference
@@andrewlavender08 that’s cool
How could I contact you about building my 2v or with more info
Where's part 2!
How much did it cost for this build? Liek cost average?
How much power without a power adder
is it in the car yet?
Update?????
Where is part 2
What cc is those dss pistons
What was the intro song?
Didn't hear it anywhere in the video. What's your friend's total budget for this setup? I have a tork tech on a factory 2v rn making about 400-450 on about 11-12 psi (haven't dynoed yet) and am looking to build a similar setup with an iron block
Somewhere around 8-10k total including the torque tech kit. End goal is a fun reliable 600whp that will do drag and drive events
Hey Andrew, looking to make about 600 WHP on a wap block. Do you think I can get away with using the stock TTY main hardware for that application, or should I really go ARP with an align hone? Thanks
Go ARP
How can I get ahold of you to copy this build?
What block is that?
So I got a question if you can use the gen2 rods couldn't you use the Gen 2 Pistons with a bore on the block?
The bore is to big, you would have to install aftermarket sleeves and bore to 3.63” which would be really expensive
Really want to mimic this build for my 2 Valve. I found a set of 7 "used" gen 2 coyote rods for $150 total! Would you reccomend buying used ones or brand new only? And it says these are the "B" part number. Do I have to get another "B" for the eighth one or can I mix and match an "A" part number?
Rods are fine used imo. They aren't really a wear item perse. If they aren't bent or broken they're fine.
Are both 6 and 8 bolt cranks able to handle 700 crank hp? I’m getting ready to rebuild my 2v for boost and will be running boss rods and dss pistons, but thought I needed a Kellogg or aftermarket crank. My plans are for around 600 wheel.
You'd be fine at 600 wheel with the cast crank as long as you aren't trying to spin high rpm (7000+)
Bro just said fuk it and just didn’t do a part 2 😂
Would this setup be good for 700hp safely? I got a teksid block and the goal is to hit 700hp. Running into I problem with the GT motor so trying to get the 4V motor in sooner then expected on a budget and still achieve my goals
I think it would handle 700 wheel pretty easily imo.
Do you need the tork tech kit to put a whipple on a 2v?
If it's for a 03/04 Cobra then yes..
Yes this is exactly what im wanting to do with my 2v. 750 whp though. Do you have a suggested compression ratio? Seems like when i do the math with everything i end up with a 11 to 1. Just seems high to be boosting that?
I believe he said 10/1 in this deal
It's boostable.. Just talk to your tuner about it..
11:1 is good long as you run good enough fuel. 93/boostane minimum and race fuel or e85 ideal.
I have a stock block and internals with comp cams and full bolt ons with a v3 vortex making 530 and wants to make more
Coyote rods and forged pistons you can go well over 600 rwhp imo
So, just a few questions. Why does everyone go .10 over with the bore, and 2nd, if the cast iron blocks are tanks why does everyone go to the teksid alum block?
Because the teksid is lighter and still extremely strong prob even stronger than the iron block.
I have a built engine (2v) single turbo 2001 mustang with a glide and terminator x for sale in Indianapolis if your interested
Ooh boi
Edit: looks like I'm first
