World Series of Poker Main Event 2009 Day 8 Headlined by Phil Ivey

  • Maryland logger Darvin Moon takes two beats to begin his Day 8 in the WSOP Main Event. Phil Ivey has an interesting response with the best hand, while Antonio Esfandiari looks to stay in the hunt for the final table as well!
Nick Maimone has favorable runouts with his big pocket pairs, while Frenchman Antoine Saout starts his run up the leaderboard. Ben Lamb and his aces get shaken up, as the WSOP Main Event is down to the final two tables.
Antoine Saout battles with James Akenhead and Phil Ivey, while Andrew Lichtenberger, Ludovic Lacay, and Nick Maimone are eliminated. Jordan Smith begins his run up the leaderboard through Billy Kopp.
Billy Kopp plays the biggest pot of the tournament against Darvin Moon. The final stages of Day 8 isn't the ideal time to have aces cracked. Action in the WSOP Main Event continues until the 2009 November Nine is reached. Who will make it?

I was in Saout's exact spot, raising pre flop with AQ suited from UTG, called by some dude in the big blind.
Flop 828 and no club, I c bet and he check raised, I three bet and he shoved. . .
I reluctantly folded but was so eager to call with ace high, because of the history I had with that "some dude"
My fold gave up the chip lead to him (he was second)
That "some dude" was Antoine Saout himself, 2011 at Aviation Club De France, Wednesday's tournament of 500€ buyin.
~Best memory of my early poker career, I still kept the tournament entry ticket and the medallion for winning the tournament, beating my own hero and someone's I look up to ❤
Ps; I would've call if I were Begleiter, with the chip lead and how aggressive Saout was.

That summer in 09 before the ME he cashed for 127k, 75k, and 57k, then did this. Since then in 15 years he's only cashed the ME once more for 17k and that's been his biggest cash in 15 years despite being a regular player. Mentally destroying, so hard to come back from.
