Give him credit for not being intimidated and calling ivey in that situation
It wasn’t a hard call especially with A’s and a dry board
But if your talking about that last hand the story didn’t make sense. Check , check , check raise all in …..
That was a Legit Hero Call. I don't care who you are.
@@cain2548📠 Fax! That's what I thought.
@@cain2548not really. the way action went it is standard heads up. especially in high rollers. this guy is battling the best in the world online ofc he isnt going to be rattled playing live vs Phil Ivey.
Phil ivey is the only pokerplayer i seen to have a pokerface even during all in and the cards is shown
Olivier Busquet
🤣🤣🤣 RIGHT!!!! HAHAHAHA
and still looking for tells after the cards are flipped over
Phil Ivey probably has a poker face on while making love to his wife! 😆
Resting pokerface
Could you imagine folding 7-2 and then flipping a boat with it 😂
i'd probably uncontrollably chuckle
7-2 would win so many pots in this video lol
Happened to me
Gotta love being the dude who folded 7 2 preflop
Haha! Ohhh man. That sucks.
We're all of those dudes at least once or a million times
Wow! Not many people can say they went heads up and beat Phil Ivey in a WSOP event!!
Congrats kid!
(In fact, Im pretty sure that he may actually be the ONLY person ever to achieve that!)
@@KennyMcCormick99 daniel did it and thats the only one I know I bet theres more but phil is a goat
I find it hilarious people think that Phil Ivey is better than Phil Hellmuth....
@@lashaxoperia5917 He's not better but thank goodness he's cooler.
@@lashaxoperia5917 Ivey is 100% better than Hellmuth at poker. Hellmuth might be better at tournament Hold ‘em but that’s literally it. Ivey is better at every other game so he’s the all-around better player. Cash games Ivey is obviously way better as well
Poker is so much better with Ivey around!!
What an insane call at the end. I could see the hole cards and still felt like folding.
Why would he ever make that play. 14 mil vs 22 didn’t need to be so reckless (Ivey)
@@bobdole7292 That is, why this call is awesome ... or crazy. I think, not many players would call in this situation. Ivey says: I got an Overpair, QQ oder KK sometimes AA or JJ. Ok, QQ or KK he would bet maybe, but it could be still AA or JJ, or not?
Standard call head up
The last call is so great, he read the bluff perfectly.
How did he read it. Please elaborate for us.
Ponakovs murders the game online. He may have just announced himself as a live killer as well. Brilliant performance lad.
The winner should have been Ben Heath. Both Ivey and Ponakovs got very lucky to be at the final table. Ponakovs did a couple of suckouts, just look at his updates prior the ft
@@sylvio9771 I think he's the better player in comparison though...
wow, so I guess short-term variance is indeed a thing
@@sylvio9771 every winner has to get lucky Sir!
@@sylvio9771 the Ivey fanboys the announcers .. it can be a little much sometimes.
It’s so great having Norman Chad back to narrate these Poker events. I loved hearing and Lon back in the early to mid 2000s when Poker blew up.
Congrats Phil!
What a win for Ponakovs, buys in for $100,000 and gets HU against one of the greatest poker players in the world Phil Ivey and makes a great call to win the bracelet! 👏🏼
The power of the rooster 🐓
Did everyone buy in for 100k or why’d he pay that much
That guy is a beast
That’s a helluva call
Nah
It really is, what can you beat there? Flush draw? 8s? Bluff? I'm curious what he thought he had to make that call
@@Dntwrybehpy1 defenitely a great call I think what he thought was 1: why would he check the flop and turn on such a wet board all his AJ QJ KJ, qeens, kings are very vurnarable on 2 hearts board so he would want to bet, especially on turn, there are literally no hands he would want to trap with 2 : on a two hearts boards the chance of phil having a flush draw there was very high so it made a call much more enticing, I wonder if he would call had that three been a diamond one, and 3: its only 8 more to the 20 mil pot
Not many players would bluff shove there with an open ender but he knew Ivey was capable and has an excellent read.
wow...honestly one of the best calls ive seen against IVEY. Think about the fact that the guy is almost dead if he calls. well kind of. That was a gutsy call !!!!
true but it did look bluffy
I agree. That call took some guts. All he could beat was a stone bluff.
@@Boudica234 he was beating a bunch of bluffs actually. Pair and straight draws, open-ended straight draws and some combinations of overs with a gutshot. Also, not to forget KQsuited as a pure bluff and if you're behind, you have an Ace to hit. Ivey could be pushing with a worse 9 and straight. (9 10 combos, Q10 combos, 86 and possibly K10 combos). All said and done, at that stage, it is a gutsy call with just a 9.
A diamond and 9 of spades brings a whole bunch of flush draws in Ivey's bluffing range as well. Just the perfect hand to bluff catch as you unblock all bluffs.
@@vshri6433 The kid didn't even take that long to call. Sometimes that's the problem with an all in check raise in that situation. It reeks of a bluff.
The young gun played well. Ivey's legacy continues.
It's awesome Ivey is still out there keeping his name one to be feared.
17:23 ponakovs gulps while ivy is fake looking at his cards while staring at him and then immediately makes the call. chilling
great eye. i believe you are spot on.
That's a pretty nutty call by Ponakovs. Straight draw and 2 hearts. He has middle pair with no hearts in his hand. Nice call. Phil played great too. Very fun to watch.
better for him to have no hearts so he unblocks flush bluffs
@@christophermc2 , agree
Hi there, watching from the Philippines. Great to see Phil Ivey in the final table. I used to watched him at the Tropicana in Atlantic City playing 7 card stud before he got famous. I knew him then as Jerome. Hope he wins. Peace🌹
Heath had to be kicking himself... he folded 7 2 and when he saw that flop he instantly regretted it 🤣🤣
was looking for this comment 🤣
I actually LOL
Gruesome flop.
Love the double side eye from Phil after calling the weak bluff
Love that he got it right back during the last hand
😂
Ponakovs did an excellent job repping a flush. Ivey had a really hard time calling there. I wonder if him calling was due to river bet size being either too small or too large. I thought it was pretty close though.
The all in at the end was the kind of thing I do as an amateur and regret later 🤣
and he probably regrets it as well
was a great call to be fair
He regretted it for sure. It was really bad.
I don't think it was a bad shove tho, he got an openender and needed 25% equity to call and had only 16% so folding will be to nitty and calling not optimal so he shoves to add fold equity, I think would Ivey see his oponents cards face up he would still shove so I think it was a great play by both of them
Ivey got school
When Phil gave the double look to the guy thinking really buddy, but then Phil goes all in with gut shot...😂😂
I mean… it was open ended to a 5 or a 10…but yeah
Ivey with the Mike Matusow blow up at the end there
It's amazing after all these years and being primarily a cash game player he not only has 10 braclets but continues to remain around the top of the poker world with all these young wizards and still crushes and final tables. I still think with all things considered: longevity, cash game play, tournament results, legacy, and results in general Ivey is the best poker player ever
The bracelets aren't that impressive though. He is playing tons of tournaments with small fields (the biggest was under 500 players and he won a lot with 100-200 player fields).
@@mklein6265 I can see that but you also gotta consider those fields are usually high roller buy ins with some of the best players in the world.
Hellmuth has won a ton by playing HUGE fields littered with amateurs and scrubs. Two sides to that coin, and 10 braclets is still 10 braclets and NONE of them in hold em which proves he's well-rounded.
I also wouldn't say he plays "tons of tournaments" he focuses his energy on cash and only shows our for big buy in tounries and there's not a ton of those around to play.
@@seankiesling2054 The biggest buy-in was 5k in 2005. He actually won small buy-in tournaments in not very popular games.
Ivey is definitly a great player, but his WSOP bracelets are actually his least impressive achivement in my opinion.
@@mklein6265 I'm not disagreeing I was just adding accolades that make him so great.
But if they were all so easy everyone else would be winning them. I agree his cash game and his presence/fear he evokes even in pros is what makes him a legend
Agreed.
at 23:35 when ivey count the chip , he was trying misleading ponakovs says " 8, 8 , 10 " that matches the board 7,8,9,10,J a staright , to plant the seed that maybe he actually has 8 and 10 in his hand .
that was a great call my man, well deserved!
That was a ballsy call at the end and well played, well.. played!
Phil Ivey is still on the top . I’m sure this is the highest watched live stream
Phil really tried to Donk his way to a bracelet. 🤣
Agree. Lol
Excellent vid - THX. ✌️
If Ivey had played as many WSOP Events as Phil he would have over 20 bracelets.
Very true,Id love to see stats for tourneys played/won Ivey must have the highest percentage by far.
BEEN WATCHING PHIL IVEY SINCE 2008... HE HAS A SKILL THAT NO OTHER POKER PLAYER HAS AND THAT IS HAVING NO FEAR! HE PLAYS HIS 2 CARDS THE SAME WAY AS IF HIS CARDS ARE BAD OR THE WINNING HAND.. ITS AMAZING TO SEE BRO!! LONG LIVE PHIL IVEY🔥🔥🔥
WOW GREAT MESSAGE I REALLY ENJOYED THE CAPS BROO!
Is it me or did he age like 10 years in the last 2?
@@kwadgawd825 HE HAS AGED A LITTLE BIT..
Thats just recklessness and is the weakness of every poker player
23:36 I think Ivey purposely says 8..10 miscounting his stack to give the impression he has 8/10 for the straight. Very slick move, would definitely had entered that guys mind subconsciously as he heard it.
That is honestly a genius take - I'm sure he's capable but in the moment who knows.
the way he said allin sounded so scared at the end there
Phil ivey is the only pokerplayer i seen to have a pokerface even during all in and the cards a shown
17:24 whatta GULP by Ponakovs...LOL! that gave away the bluff
Although he lost, Iveys run this year has

Sparkling, witty commentary from Ali and Norm - surely the best pairing in the business! More of that please, PokerGo!
the guy who folded 7 deuce in the first hand is steaming
With as many times as 7 2 came out on these highlights I would have played them like AA 🤣
Outstanding call by Ponakov on the final hand
That's a great call at the end. All he could beat was a stone bluff. Great instinct. Sometimes u gotta go with your gut.
Nothing better than ivey deep in a big tourney
Crazy call there
Winning and beating Phil Ivey heads up, double win

Nice check rise by Ivey
What a call !
Ummm terrible play, not a hard call
Check raise
what a call last hand,gg both
The commentator thinking that Phil made a bad call with QJs . . . smh 🤦♂️ 😂
Barely, it's most likely breakeven ICM wise. Then again it's Ivey so who cares :)
prob a fold due to ICM but ivey goes straight for the win,
9:50 that was cold..💀
Well done bro.
Props to Heath, running into a few bad beats, but handling like a pro. Congrats to Phil, you are, and always will be awesome 🤩. Oops, spoke a little too soon…still, nice cash anyways.
very interesting last hand, I'm not sure what Ivey's repping with the check-check-jam. If he has a high jack pair, an overpair, or a set, how often would he check those twice even out of position? I think maybe the only line he plays that way for value is hitting a set of 9s on the turn, of which there is only one combo, or MAYBE 10-8 suited but I bet he would bet those on the flop or turn. For bluffs, it's possible he'd make this play with some heart draws, trying to catch Ponakovs firing off air, and there are way more combos of this possibility, especially with ponakovs not having a heart blocker. I think that's why it was a pretty easy call, an interesting hand nonetheless!
Damnit Phil! Was rootin for ya
Ivey's voice did shake a little when he said that he had 10 mil left.
It sure did!!! He was even shaky when he said all in. Didn't look like the young Phil to me in this situation .
Watching from South Africa.
what a call in the end, and is very underrated judging from the comments here.
Phil Ivey. My man!!! Well its hard to. Be champion champion champion.
Hellava call at the end there. Props to Whitey
Phil's class makes it watchable.
zzzzzz
16:00 This guy knows his chemistry! I like him. (Desiccants remove water).
I like the handshake at the end
there was a major live tell on Ponakovs twice first one he sighed when the 2 came on the river at 15:32 Ivy probably didn't see it then on the same hand just before Ivy put in the call while he was wondering if he could get more value Ponakovs did a deep swallow which was another tell and Ivy caught it. Ivy should have studied him a bit more Ponakovs was very composed when he had a hand and sighed and slouched a lot when whiffing but congrats to him on the second bracelet
lol im sure Ivey will read this and wish he had you as a poker coach
First hand Heath lays down 7/2o and I *jokingly* say to myself he should’ve called cause I’ll occasionally call a blind with that hand cause it’s the one hand no one ever expects and the flop is 7/2/2 😂😂
I bet he was so poised
Great call at the end dont think i could make it against Ivey of all people.
You can totally see in his eyes.....he wanted this bracelet so bad. If he didn't sit out 3 wsop years he would probly have 12-13 by now
Last play was really bad, standard fold. Well I am glad he is back
@@plastikaaa it's a sick bluff actually. unfortunately his opponent was at the top of his range
@@derekknapp9246 no it’s not. When villain check the flop and bet pretty big turn he is protecting or atleast have a combo draw. Ivy bluff is one of the worst possible, he have the worst straight draw + no flush draw
@@plastikaaa you’re ubsolutely right, i believe that ivey didnt know that the guy has a pair even, he was trying only to make him fold some overs, if he knew he had a J or a 9 he wouldn’t have shoved on the river, coz not in a million year this guy will fold 2nd pair with top kicker after flop and turn has been checked
@@elio-7911 he missplayed everyone can missplay and I am happy that he is back in shape
Were they giving away Modelos at the end?
Phil doesn’t even smile when he does win, he’s like: gimme that bracelet and let’s get out of here….
😅🤣
17:30 what makes Ivey call instead of folding?
Ivey definitely had his new cleats on for this one. I guess even the best tend to punt from time to time.
not really a punt. If he folded we'd all be saying "what an amazing play!". It was a bluff against someone that didn't even have top pair, and he was still called.
Great call.

the way Ivey's eyes dart around from 23:37 to 23:46 really make him seem unconfident on the shove. But who knows, maybe I'm just overanalyzing. Just looks like he's guilty/bluffing here.
that's what I thought too

May be a foolish question here but what is the "exchange rate" on those chips to $? Is it 1:1 or how does that work?
It's a tournament. The chips have no exchange rate to money. The payouts are given by where you finish in the tournament.
You can see Phil's eyes quickly glance to the side on that last hand. His eyes were like 'please dont' I think that might have played a role in why he got zeroed. He couldn't sell it.
When Ivey raises with 86, why not just push all in with A9 in that situation? Would that be a dumb move? Seems reasonable to me.

Man that’s why you never fold the 7-dewey😂
First hand of the video, another player at the table folded 2 7 suited, would’ve full flopped the nuts if they stayed in, and no one would’ve expected anyone to stay in with that hand
Ivey Ivey Ivey
23:00 Both players played well here. Ivey just picked to wrong street to push all-in. He jammed right when Ponakovs picked up a pair, with Ace as his kicker. To Ponakovs, it looks like the flop missed Ivey and at best he is raising with K-9/Q-9 bc both 8-10 and J-9 are unlikely. If Ivey moved on the flop it would have gotten thru.
This will be the story of the mans life. I'm glad I watched the video before reading the comments.
