Back in the “old days” when there were shows like the Poker Superstars Tournament, the Aussie Millions, etc …. you could just tell that Ivey was on another level than anyone else; At the table-He like Mozart, and everybody else was tone-deaf.

the check on the turn with aces was actually really good, overlooked part of the hand. Sure maybe phil would have called 3 streets but he definitely disguised his aces.

I liked that $80k punt to Gal on the end there. Don’t mind the lead on the river much OOP, as Gal’s range is very rarely going to include any 10x combo with the way the hand played out, but it was amateur hour sizing. He chose 40% pot sizing with his bet on the end.
Ivey very easily could have 3 bet pre with A10 suited to iso knowing he was going to be UTG post flop. He’s also skilled enough to 3 bet J10 suited combos, 10/9 suited combos and 10/8 suited combos from that position as well, especially against against a button open from a loose player like Gal. The fact that a loose player like Gal opened the button would have also green lit Phil to defend heads up with those types of combos OOP against a 4 bet, as Gal’s range could have easily included AK, even AQ since he was the button open, or even suited A2-A4 combos to try to pick up the pot pre with his 4 bet.
For Gal to barrel the flop with a 40% sizing (consistent sizing for an overpair) after 4 betting pre on a 10 high rainbow junky flop that likely missed his entire 4 bet range, and then check back the turn when the 2nd 10 came in, his range was either pocket QQ-pocket AA, or total air.
Phil is supposedly good enough to the point where he should have recognized this spot as a perfect opportunity to lead with a big bet sizing on the river and rep the 10, as his line would be perfectly consistent with having trips.
As I previously explained, Phil’s range includes all the 10x combos and nut hands given his line and the way this hand played out. He had to know he had a great spot to pick up nearly a $100k pot with like a 90-125% bet sizing if he’s the consummate pro that he is hailed to be...... right.........? Instead, he goes for a sizing that’s a snap call for any overpair to his JJ, and may even be a call for pocket 77-pocket 99 in this spot, although Gal would have almost certainly not 4 bet those types of middling pocket pairs pre, even in position.

Next time maybe put something like "Phil's back on tour!" coupled with something like "Is he still at his winning form or earlier this year?" Or some shorter version of this.

@@colinsushiboy745 yeah allegedly this guy had someone in the stream sending the card information to mikes phone as the hand is being played out. Making his decisions seem like he was getting soul reads on the players. He only played on live streams and wold have HUGE wins during his sessions. There was a lawsuit but I don’t think anything happened with it since it’s a gambling environment (but I’m only guessing that’s why he won the lawsuit)
WSOP commentators said Phil owes $6M & whenever he wins they just take it all from to cover that debt. As such he had stopped playing. So he must have pd it all off why he's back playing.
