Imperial guard
When you lose 2/3rds of your force and still outnumber the enemy
Thats what conscripts are used for they have alot 6 mintues life expectancy.... while battleharden guards men can expect to live through mutiple battles. Also tanks and vechile crews are highly valuable and won't go in unless they need them to hold the line or make a breakthrough.
cadia stands!
The Guard loses 2/3rd of its forces but the enemy loses 9/10ths of its own!
Imperial Guard are OUTNUMBERED in most battles!
@@christiandauz3742 if your fighting tyranids or works yeah...eldar? Tau? Any planet dumb enough to rebel?

"There's a space soldier circling somewhere around Uranus, probing for threats in order to keep your ass safe". Thats a triple pun. Bravo.
Wow American Ben, that was such an intricate tapestry of slurs, innuendos, vivid metaphors and alien degradation that any space drill instructor would shed a tear. In fact, it probably reached critical mass and is still orbiting as we speak.
Edit: Thanks, for the call out at the end. It is much appreciated.
I think there slowly ramping it up until we get to the imperial guard. Them being the most xenophobic of them all.
@@tavernburner3066 nah, try the Deathwatch marines of the ordo Xenos

Yes.
@@GenerationFilms they would have one. But that wouldn't be good for business
As a Warhammer 40K fan I say purge the Xenos. For the God Emperor.
Fun fact there is a pretty dam good 40k / avatar cross over fan fic where pandora gets colonized by the IG in the form of the steel legion regiments supported by adeptus astarties and adeptus mechanicus. Needless to say the IoM wins ..... That is until the tau show up then things get interesting.
"Secretly" lol
Generation Films are the kind of guys that play Stellaris exclusively with fanatic xenophobic ethics
Gavin Lee is there any other way?
So they are the military Division of the Greater Terran Union of the Templin Institute?
And whats wrong with that?
Security contractors, bounty hunters, and mercs can come with asymmetric advantages, but a hotheaded leader will usually throw them away.
Another two key ingredients are reconnaissance and indirect fire weapons. Without good reconnaissance and constant dismounted patrolling, the mercs can't project power over a large area. Dismounted patrolling would also be necessary for developing an understanding of how terrain and wildlife will affect operations, while also wardingoff boredom from being stuck on guard duty for 8 hours.
Indirect fire weapons are also crucial. The navi have no means to counter them, and so coordinated batteries of indirect fire weapons can ensure that no units are isolated and vulnerable to destruction in detail. Indirect fire weapons would also do more damage to anything that is bulletproof.
To be fair, they're not exactly a standing army, OR meant for projection of force. They are on Pandora under the official capacity of "security personnel".
@@doctorhunger921 This series is examining them as "space marines." And they're already quite militarized (note the mechs and armed aicraft). I don't think either of those improvements would be much of a stretch.
@@doctorhunger921 Correct on both points; however, I am comparing them to mercs and security forces in Africa during the 1970s-80s, when tribal warfare, Communist raids, and wildlife were all threats that required said security personnel to range far outside the wire in order to protect the workers and intercept any incoming attacks. Quite a fascinating period of history.
one issue with IDF on Pandora is range. lots of tall trees and canyons in the way

The Artillery and Flamethrowers of the Guard would easily take care of that
This guy's better not screw up or butcher the Imperial Guard
Haha, we will do our best to deliver.

Astra millitarum are godlike in their armor and artillery, and damned in their infantry. The Astra militarum is much like a WW2 Soviet force.
Well.... Butchering the I.G. is kinda the point. Its a legitimate strategy, it drains the enemy of ammunition as you prep for a bayonet charge.

SecOps lack armored combat Infantry vehicles, main battle tanks, and air superiority fighters.
How, exactly, do you intend to ship, supply, maintain, or, hell, use them on Pandora? It’s a huge jungle moon, with little to no dirt roads and only the Firebase (whatever the main base was called), could even remotely pretend to keep those working. Remember they only have roughly 12 or so supply shuttles that can transport troops and supplies from Earth to Pandora and takes years to get there. They can’t even send a fully built tank. They’d have to disassemble it and then have the tools and facilities to reassemble it and then store it. Also, what about the fuel and ammo problem?
@@duncanharrell5009 Did you see the size of their starships? The size of their shuttles? It's more than capable to transport and deploy tanks and fighters. It's even big enough to deploy satellites and assemble a space station. Just take a look at the size of the trucks who actually "just" serve as transports for unobtainium between the mine and the base. Now, take a look at the size of the base itself. You'll quickly realize it's the size of a big airport. Yeah, they're more than capable to have all these toys. Yet they don't use them. Instead, they use puny mech suits barely able to enhance a soldier overall utility on such battlefield. SpecOps literally deserved to loose. At this point. No artillery, even as tanks, is a crime in this context.
And good ol artilery
SecOps cannot use tank because tank cannot move throught deep jungle
Basically, this war its like vietnam war, but in foreign planet
Buncha babes in the wood. Give me two regiments of Catachans and I’ll reduce Pandora to a quivering pile of xenos gore.
Don’t waste resources soldier
Half a regiment would do
The point of the RDA was to complete their objective with minimal xenos causalities.
why bother with deploying jungle fighters? all we need is the raw resources of the planet, just virus bomb or nuke the planet from orbit then send the death korps of krieg to clean up the resulting wasteland before strip mineing the planet.
Then they'll terra form it too good as new just in time for a space hulk with a billion orks on it to destroy it again.
@@spartacusthebringerofrain3007 hey now, that's only if a Hive Fleet doesn't get to it first. Or if the world isn't infact secretly a Tomb World. Or place of importance to Eldar. Actually I think they are planning to use the imperial guard instead because of the same reasons they didnt use the spartans from halo. I am hopeing they do a super soldier comparison though.
@@ethanmaloney3438 It's kind of hard to analyse the imperial guard due to the inconsistencies between units.
Agreed but a general overview may be possible, for instance the variety of worlds mean that regemennt from different worlds will be better in different combat scenarios. Also most have a general type of gear.

Even on earth you see militaries adapt to their environment; look at the last half of the 19th century up through the beginning of the 20th century. While the European land powers were trending towards light caliber small arms, especially in side arms (Czarist Russia went from the .44 Russian down to the 7.62 Nagant; Imperial Germany dropped from 11mm to 9mm, France adopted the 8mm Ordinance cartridge), frontier powers like the US and Great Britain retained large caliber stopping weapons like the .455 Webley and .45 ACP and .45 Colt. While European powers were mostly concerned with stopping peer Armies, the US and Brits were factoring in both other humans as well as wildlife and native threats. While .32's and .38's were often considered adequate for civilian defense, the US insisted on the .44 as a round capable of stopping a horse, not just a person. The Brits, likewise, were not only facing African and Indian natives, but also lions and elephants and tigers on a much more regular basis than their continental contemporaries.
In current times, 5.56 is more popular than 7.62 because you can carry more of it, it has a flatter trajectory, better armor plate penetration, and it will adequately stop a human threat. A 7.62 or other full size battle rifle will do a much better job with terminal ballistics, but a 5.56 will give you a better chance to make that hit. Moving forward, a small round like 5.56 will be far less effective on a 10 foot tall blue space monkey, and pretty much useless on armored space rhinos. The troops should have figured that out a generation before, and started importing weapons appropriate to the threat at hand. Figure a way to cram an explosive tipped 20mm into a convenient package, mount gatlings on the mech suits to bring up both stopping power AND hit probability. These things are available, they just need to make use of them. There are shoulder fired 20mm cannons today--there's no reason they couldn't be improved upon and adapted for a future space force.
I just remembered an important line from the film.
"Don't touch that or you'll go blind." Said by the females navi scientist when the new dude was looking at his navi ponytail nerve bundle.
The threat of going blind from touching a certain part of your body sounds familiar... Like, yah know, a reason given not to masturbate.
I don't know if it's literal or a don't fap reference, but I wouldn't want to find out.
What if instead of going blind, you make normal masturbation obsolete since you can't out pleasure directly exposed nerves?

Man this video had me laughing all the way!😂
I almost cried at the anti-Na'vi statements. As a former member of secops, it's not every day a hardened space warrior is reduced to a sentimental old human
I am so happy that they brought up the AVATAR: THE GAME. I have a deep love and nostalgia for it, and the graffic of that game is impressive!
I love that game because you can fight as a R.D.A Soldiers a kill some Nav'I scums.
That death of hope trailer footage at the end; YOUR FIGHT IS WITH ME TRAITOR
#4 no ejection seat is probably due to the vehicle being designed specifically against the navi. If that’s the case of course some things won’t be added because they would be seen as unnecessary
Avatar movie is my favorite it's very relaxing and dreamy to watch.
Sec ops has awful ballistic protection. The glass on their vehicles’ cockpits can’t even stop subsonic arrows. I’m pretty sure they’re also only wearing soft body armor like Kevlar. Plate inserts on plate carriers will have no problem stopping subsonic projectile. If you try to tell me that the Na’vi arrows have the same kinetic energy as a rifle round then you’re telling me that the film has bad science to begin with.
Yep. It's supposed to be symbolic, which in my opinion just ruins the film.
An English longbow could kill a man in full plate armor. I don't know what the draw weight is for a bow made for 10ft tall blue monkey people, but I'm guessing that body armor thick enough to stop it would be too heavy to be practical for unenhanced humans. I mean, it could pierce ballistic glass for goodness sake!
The arrows couldn't penetrate the glass though. They had to be divebombing them at a hundred miles per hour on their little dragons and stuff to actually generate enough kinetic energy to put their arrows through the glass.
And you'd be hardpressed to find ANY body armor that could withstand the draw weight of those bows and arrows. Each arrow must be at LEAST 3 pounds, and are tipped with bone arrowheads laced with naturally occurring carbon fiber, and each bow must have a draw weight somewhere in the 300#'s range, making the arrow travel around 350f/s. I don't think any ar500 plate could withstand the force of a bowstaff flying at you around 200mph.
By the way, the muzzle energy on a 5.56 is 1200 ft/lbs, whereas the Na'vi bow and arrow has 5600 ft/lbs of energy. That's...That's pretty crazy. That's comparable to the infamous .470 Nitro Express cartridge, capable of producing up to 5100 ft/lbs of muzzle energy. At that point, bullets like 7.62 NATO and 5.56 aren't even on the menu. The amount of power these bows are packing are immense.
@@doctorhunger921 Maybe not the flyers, but couldn't the bows penetrate the cockpit glass on the mech walkers?
@@doctorhunger921
I bet that the Carapace Armor that the Scions of the Guardsmen of the Imperium of Man would stop one of those arrows
The Scion is still wounded but still alive and capable of fighting
Scions are so OP they would kill all the Navi within just days
Sir, yes sir!

I really enjoyed playing the avatar game. Played it a few years ago. Great fun.
That t-shirt got to love it.
And I subscribed because of it
"so ask yourself: do you like sex with animals or do you support the troops" best quote ever
you must add the valiant marines from star craft, to support them in there fight against the Zerg and Protoss scum.
No nuke? Well that's a 3
Space force veteran here... deployed with the 32nd moon jumper division, 46th Space recon regiment to the Fra'ckshaq 2 solar system back during operation Blue Force for 6 back to back tours back in 2078-2081 (Space Recon Force, stationed at Echo-7 FOB in Fu'thar region.) The streets of Oldor c7 saw some of the hardest fighting the Recon Force has engaged to this day.. i even remember clear as oldor' day when i gor my SCAB (Space Combat Action Badge) took a sonic ied to our armored transports... we lost some damn good men that day.
Made it all the way to Lunar Sargent before taking a goddamn anti-gravitationsl mortar roud 10 meters from my position.
Hearts (all 3 of them) and minds people, all 3 hearts and minds
Also, dont expect orbital support, we cleared half a valley of oorklugs before they gave us the time of day (which ironically it was innacurate since they were using mean space time)
You guys should do something with battletech-mechwarrior universe. I see many people do videos about halo, Star Wars, warhammer, aliens, and other sci-fi franchises but don't see many involving battleteach/mechwarrior series. They have many factions that be comparable to space marines and do have an impressive space fleet. Anyways good video and look forward to next one
I laughed so hard at “ I get , reading is for aliens “
I got an idea to fix the nuke problem. Take some of the antimatter from one of the ISVs and use that to make a bomb of similar power. Only afew grams would be needed when the ship store several tones of it on board in those massive spherical tanks. Siphoning of some of that to fuel a bomb would be easy
This is why humanity will never be able to expand in a way we can never imagine. We humans are the best monsters.
I wonder how the PREDATOR would go on safari on Pandora ?
I have a video idea for you
Compare all the space marines and see which is best/worse
We just might do that!
that is unfair to all non-warhammer 40k space marines

@@christiandauz3742 also one main advantages of the I.G. is theirs numbers, to not say the support of superheavy tanks and the legio titanica
@@blazeace1155 believe it or not it's not. You have to remember mundane things do kill Marines often, and theirs things more dangerous than them in other factions.
One other big flaw (which I don’t know if it’s cannon) but some of the ground units that partook in the Battle of Pandora were actually just civilian miners armed by quarritch and probably lacked any combat experience. The scene got deleted from the movie but it’s on CZcams if you look it up.
hey that’s my buddy at 2:17 😂😂
When earth starts to send space marines to space i will be the first one to voulnteer
Kill for the living,Kill for the Dead in memory of all those who fell on Pandora.
Humanity first!
Lets do a best mechanized forces in Sci-fi. My suggestion is the ESF from Gundam 00.
Barry Bend What do you mean by mechanized. Likes Mechs?
Flaws? There are none, the space marines from AVATAR are what you think when you hear Humanity First and that nominates them for an automatic ten out of ten.
Got a good laugh out of that intro
I have to contest you on the argument about the bows. The smallest bow they would use would be bigger than the English longbows from the 1300s at around six feet long. Those things were devastating against French armour (steel plate). Besides, since the invention of gunpowder, armour has not been able to keep up, advancement-wise.
The greatest flaw the Marines have, and thus greatest advantage that the blueskins have, is plot armor
Even the Ultramarines (who have more plot armor than these chumps and the Rebels) get wrecked, usually by Chaos or Tyranids
I feel like with the amount of parallels made in the movie between na'vi and native Americans, insulting them as much as possible at every turn is maybe bordering on not okay
But as long as it's not serious I guess?
😬
starkiller187 natives didn’t have sex with trees
Or did they?
Yeah I dont think its serious. It's like a mix of satire and thinking like the guys in the setting would be thinking. Since he's been doing alot of videos on space marines set in sci fi, i think hes doing it with a degree of campiness and xenophobia that are built into the different settings. Think of it like he's cos-playing as a Mobile Infantryman from Starship Troopers (the movie) and kept quoting "would you like to know more?" or "the only good bug is a dead bug" every 5 minutes.
Really? Jesus. Holy fuck thin skin and the inability to appreciate a decent video. Just look at fucking history and see everyone has taken land to get where they are. Pathetic tbh. Drawing false connections to further your own disillusioned fantasy. Read a book and please, for the love of god, cite a civilization that wasn't found on conquest or territorial gains. I will be waiting for a PM to discuss the matter. I will accept any proof otherwise. "As long as it's not serious i guess"
I feel like I might be a little late to the party but what about he M.A.C.O from Star Trek Enterprise? I’d be interested to see a video on those guys. Again I loved this video so thank you
I've always loved the breathing thing of the movie because I head cannoned it is that the reason humans couldn't breathe on Pandora was because they came from Earth that was so polluted and with such a tainted atmosphere that the pure atmosphere of Pandora without pollutants was incompatible with their lungs anymore
You dont just become "used" to a polluted atmosphere. Evolution takes thousands of years. Their lungs are the same as ours
What are Generation Film’s thoughts on *Cat Girls?* They aren’t really humans but they’re still sort of humans.
I imagine the Humanity First doctrine would be along the lines of the Imperium’s which clearly states “Purge the alien, the MUTANT, the heretic!”
This weakens the genepool of humanity and promotes bestiality. They have to be seen as alien scum trying to fish for human pity and therefore have to be eradicated. Damn you for even waver infront of the enemy and showing mercy!
Domestication is a time-honored human tradition.
let them not only talk about cat girls, let them talk about any half human species like lamia, centaurs, spidergirls and anything else found in fiction that is partially human and how they could be integrated into a mixed species military!
@@popejpv Don't they let some mutants serve in the IG?
How hard can it be to stop arrows? I'm going to assume that the bows used by the Navi have a heavier draw weight then human bows because they are so much bigger, but even still some plate armor with a high tech alloy and maybe some kevlar style gambison underneath should be enough.
I am pretty sure Alan said they were doing the Imperial guardsmen American Ben from his first video he made when this started. Since the Space Marines were way to OP and would be used in a "Spec Ops" deal since that basicly what they do if normal forces cant handle it. I could be wrong I guess but he said when you guys do spec ops focusing like sparatins and other elite forces space marines would be in it American Ben. Sorry if I am wrong but thats what I remember from his video the first one when this started.

Keeping the best for last I see
I remember rooting for them for some reason. I kind of think James Cameron made the RDA unethical killing machines. And the justification they use to invade Pandora was pretty crappy too. I wish there was more to it so people wouldn't just be coaxed into siding with the Na'vi (treehumpers lol).
Sadly there is historical reasoning for the RDA
Look up the Congo Free State
-Chopping of Hands is a common practice
-15 MILLION dead black people
Would love it if you tackled 30K/40K Warhammer space marines.
When your mother picks you up from school and tells you she needs to get a few things from the store on the way home: "i want this mission high and tight. I want to be home for dinner."
Remember that soldiers didn't make A bomb.
I think the humans need an actual tactical technician that knows their way around. The chief from the movie is more of a military instructor rather than an actual tactician. I believe THIS is why they lose in the movie.
"When all things seems lost, hope come from an unexpected place, from an unexpected person, with an unexpected plan."

Love the series so far but ejector seats are generally only installed in single pilot fighters. The act off firing a rocket tends to burn those around them.
Sneering Imperialist mode engaged. if you want to deal with uncultured blue barbarians who are in your way, don't give them a chance to engage you, just drop rocks on them from orbit. Sneering Imperialist mode disengaged.

hello i like this series
On a real note though I was totally pulling for the marines in Avatar lol
oh maybe you could do a battle royal type thing when you're done with these flaws and advantages videos (hopefully not too soon) and figure out which team wins overall?
Humanity first, everybody else never.
What about the marines from Space Above and Beyond..the 58??
Really disappointed we didn't get an alternate ending featuring the humans flying overhead and mowing them down to the tune of fortunate son
A nuclear strike would be a bad idea for them even if they had permission because they're trying to obtain resources from Pandora. As a space faring organization, their best option would be to use a heavy mass driver from high orbit. A single heavy projectile could have oblliterated home tree and left no fallout to interfere with the mining operation. I also wonder why they weren't able to get human volunteers for gene therapies in order to acclimate the human body to Pandora's atmosphere.
