@Bonsai Baum Naw man. Ronaldo got so many ballon d'Ors simply because of CL titles when as an individual player and as a team player, Messi has always been VASTLY superior.
Take away Ronaldo's goals, similar to Messi in number, and you have almost no highlights after his first spell at United and he would be one of the worst and most invisible players on the pitch. The man is a shoot baller.
Take away Messi's goals and you still have hours of highlights and constant man of the match performances. It's not even close. It never was. Ballon d'Or is a joke. Mostly given to the most high profile player of the CL winning team.
Messi should have had 10 or so by now if it was about actual performances. Also Messi scores about the same as Ronaldo with about half the amount shots. Even as a goal scorer, it's not even close.
Messi is absolutely clinical in EVERYTHING in attacking football. CR7 is a wasteful goal scorer with AWFUL efficacy stats and he has almost nothing other than his bad shooting and physical presence to get away more mostly wasteful shots.
It has never been remotely close. But I don't expect you to understand that. Because if you thought CR7 was ever a better player, then you probably have 4 boosters since the first couple were so effective. Logic and reason is probably beyond you. Good luck NPC. Messi is just magnificent to watch. He can dribble, assist and score goals like no one else does. If football is an individual sport, Messi would win ALL Ballon D'ors hands down because he's miles ahead of everyone. The reason he did not win for those few years is because his team did not manage to win titles. I can count the number of tapins he scored this season in one hand and still have fingers left over. Yeah Ronaldo is an incredible goal scorer but the quality of his goals is lacking compared to Messi (Ronaldo also has amazing goals) but Messi has him beat in goal quality and quality of play like dribbling, shooting, assisting, passing ect.

To be fair, its easier for players to play longer in modern football since medicine has improved, pitch is good and ball is lighter to control and there is protection from referees and VAR technology plus there is no more brutal tackles. Correct, but the game itself has evolved to an extremely high level of dedication, work, and fitness. With that, there are players in every position who play at the most elite level the game has produced. Him and Ronaldo are still putting up numbers, dominating. They're the best players out of the last 3 generations worth of ball. Even Pele didn't do that in an inferior period of footballing history and he has always been referred to as the King. Messi goes a level above Ronaldo for me simply because of his magic. He's also the only player in history who rivals and even surpasses the best players in history associated with certain footballing attributes. His dribbling rival's the abilities of Maradona; his passing, the vision of Xavi; his on-field tactical mindset, that of Cruyff; his longevity rivals Cristiano's. Guy is just the Goat. Messi is great, but u cannot compare him to other great players. He has better medicine, better pitch, lighter ball.
Maradona had horrible pitch, heavier ball, absolutely brutal defence, no protecion, played in average teams. So its really hard to determine.
And what about Cruff who literally changed football, Pele who has 3 world cups and who invented 90% of moves todays players use, or Becenbauer who redifined the way defence is being played, or defece of Milan in 80s and 90s.
Only thing i never liked with Messi is that its always one same play, same style, same dribbling.

His agility is also just perfect, like how he runs so fast and his short stature stretches a leg out to move the ball and his body coordination is insane. Passing skills..
Complete master in the game. He may be not the fastest, but he IS FAST. He can definitely cause a headache if you give him too much room.
