    In this video we go over the ICECO TR60 12v compressor fridge. This video talks about the fridge in detail and my favorite features. The TR60 fills an interesting void in the market because it is MUCH cheaper than Dometic, ARB, and Engel fridges, but has near the same build quality! I would recommend this fridge to anyone looking for one of the best 12 volt compressor fridges.

    Thanks to your channel, I'm very likely going to purchase a Iceco as opposed to a Whynter (which is the brand sitting in my amazon cart before finding your channel.) What I can't figure out is the difference between GO, JP, VL and now TR. I'd like to be able to understand the difference so I can make an informed decision. Also, 60 is pretty large for me (I usually travel single). I was thinking of getting a VL45 which is one from a review you did with your father in law, but I'm not stuck on that 100% - hard to figure out which fridge/freezer to get! Do you have discount codes on different fridges? and one last question, I really like the slim fit of the whynter FM 452SG - does iceco have anything similar.....tall and slender that will fit between front seats or in a thiner niche? Thank you very much for your help! I've been binge watching your videos. Also, thanks for posting a nice discount code. May I ask how long the discount code will be available?

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  Před 3 lety +1

      Not sure when the discount code will stop, they discontinued their affiliate portal so I am guessing sooner rather than later, I'm surprised it still works. So the VL series are heavier built and tough, very insulated. I always recommend the VL series because they are my favorite. I love the look and performance. The TR is a great mix between the JP and the VL, it's large and very efficient. It has wheels so it's easy to move. Great for traveling solo. The JP series are light weight and compact. The discount code on the TR-60 is pretty decent, brings the cost down 33%. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for the great video review. I have this fridge and I was wondering if you had any problems with temperature staying constant. It seems that when I would drop the temp to freeze it was actually getting warmer for quite awhile before it would cool down. I also find that there is sometimes about a 10 degree difference between the onboard displayed temp reading and the traditional fridge thermometer I keep inside it when running. My cooler does not seem to have any foam gasket on the lid at all either. It is just the molded plastic. I wonder if I am losing cold air or warm air is seeping in without any type of gasket.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  Před 3 lety +1

      Hay Mark, I have noticed that some fridges need a little lower temp adjustment on the display to keep the contents colder. Pretty normal with most brands. Each fridge is a little different. For example you might want to try setting the fridge to 27 degrees (instead of 32) and see what the behavior is like. I'm guessing the location of the temp sensor could be closer to the cooling coils or something and it thinks the temps is colder than it really is. Let me know what you see. It's normal to have temp swings of 10 degrees, you just want it to be anything below 43 degrees to keep your food from spoiling.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  Před 3 lety +2

      I like to call them divided fridges. Their kinda in between a single zone and a dual zone style fridge. Theres only one temp setting on the display but there are two 'temperature areas' in the fridge. One area is just about 10 - 15 degrees warmer. If you have the fridge set at 33 degrees, the large area will be 33 degrees and the large area will be around 44 or slightly warmer. Great for produce or other food that doesn't need much cooling.
      If you set the display to 20 degrees, the large area will be 20, the small area will be around 30-35 degrees. Hope that makes sense. If you want an actual dual zone fridge, they have some VL series dual and VL Pro series dual models that are great!

    Hello Jasonoid, I am considering the TR60 vs the VL60S (Single Zone) vs the JP50. Both the TR60 and VL60S are 60L/63Q so they have more space than the JP50. JP50 Power Consumption (P.C.) (MAX mode, 55W for fast Cooling; ECO mode, low as 33W); VL60S PC (MAX mode 55W-60W; ECO mode 45W-55W according to an email ICECO sent me). TR60 PC (No longer listed on ICECO website so not exactly sure). The JP50 and the TR60 seem like they are built more of plastic than the VL60S. Not sure how this affects insulation. The latches on the VL60S also seem more secure than both the TR60 and JP50 which may also affect insulation. Also, does the TR60 have a drain plug at the bottom? I said all this to say which fridge/freezer would you recommend considering these factors: best insulation, least power consumption and price point. If anyone else has an opinion with some reasonable level competence regarding these units, please enlighten me. Sorry for the diatribe.

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Dareal,
      Thanks for reaching out about which fridge you should buy. I am planning on doing an ICECO comparison video soon because I have 8 of them….one from each “category” they make. 2 VLs, 1 VLpro, both JPC-rotomolded the 42 and 60, the JP30, and GO20. I have used them all many times and tested them thoroughly. That video will go over a quick overview of each model (pros and cons), power usage, price, and capacity so subscribe for that future video.
      The TR60 is a great fridge (available from FrontierHub.com…it was never on ICECO’s website for some reason). It is a “divided” style fridge so the thermostat controls the larger compartment and the smaller compartment over the compressor is about 10 to 15 degrees warmer. I wouldn’t call these divided fridges “a fridge / freezer” like some people do. That’s kinda a gimmick. The warmer area is good for drinks and produce and that’s about it. If you want a true dual compartment fridge freezer look elsewhere like the ICECO VL60Dual. The TR60 pulls about 10 watts at 70F and 21 watts at 85F degrees. It has the SecopBD35F compressor. ECO mode pulls 46 watts, MAX mode pulls 82 watts. No drain plug but I don’t think that’s a make or break feature there. The TR60 comes in at 43 pounds.
      VL60S is a “Chest” style fridge so there’s one large cooling area. I prefer chest style fridges because I like to set them right at 35F and they perform very well. The VL60S is basically a tall version of the VL45. They took the VL45 design and made the walls taller. That makes it a pretty deep fridge so getting stuff out of the bottom and moving stuff around could get annoying, probably only downside for this fridge. The VL series are the most insulated fridges that ICECO offers. The walls are 2.25 inches thick! It’s going to be heavier than the TR60, but that weight means more durability and insulation. I am a HUGE fan of the VL series, they are my favorite model line from ICECO. I haven’t used this particular model before but like I said it’s a ‘tall’ VL45. It should pull about 9 average at 70F and 19 watts at 85F. It should have the Secop BD35F compressor…it may have the larger BD50F…I haven’t torn one of these down to look inside before. I will tell you I wish they made the VL60 fridge in the same form factor as the VL60Pro, its basically wider and longer than the VL45 so it’s easier to store things and not have such a deep fridge. This has got to be heavier than the VL45 which weighs 48lbs.
      The JP50 is a “divided” style fridge so the thermostat controls the larger compartment and the smaller compartment over the compressor is about 10 to 15 degrees warmer. I wouldn’t call it a fridge / freezer because you can only control one compartment (just like the TR60). The benefits to the JP series is that they are lighter weight due to the plastic construction. They due have a metal liner inside so they offer great efficiency just like the other two fridges. I think these fridges are a little over priced because they cost the same at the VLseries….shouldn’t they be cheaper because they are made of plastic? This fridge also doesn’t have a drain plug. My testing on the JP30 came in around 11 watts power usage at 70F so maybe add a few more watts to it? ECO mode should pull around 38 watts with a 59 watts MAX mode. It should have the Secop BD35F compressor in it as well. This should come in a few pounds heavier than the JP30 at 33 lbs.
      Hope this info helps. You can save 12% on any of these fridges using my discount code “JASONOID” at checkout if you decide to purchase one. I think ICECO offers a great value for the price. They are the best priced fridges that have the reliable Secop compressor in them. Happy fridging!

      @Dareall13Cd Před 2 lety +1

      Much appreciated Jasonoid!! Thanks for getting back so soon with such good info. I think I’m leaning towards the VL60S. I like the footprint as it’s taller but not wider or longer than the VL45. Don’t mind having to reach down a little deeper if I get a little more space. I actually had the Setpower 47Q but returned it. I really liked that Unit. Only problem was it was rated at 85watts. However after I returned it, I saw your video with it matched against the VL45 and it seemed to have better efficiency than the VL45 which means VL60S is likely to have less efficiency than the Setpower 47Q which is totally what I was not going for. I have a 4S 12V battery Bank (4x 3.2V Prismatic Lifepo4 Cells 310AH, *really capacity tested at 304AH) that I’m working with. The Setpower 47Q ran through those 304AHs in about 24 hours. Now it was about 104F in Souther Cali and I was running it with an Inverter on AC instead of DC so I know that affected the draw greatly. I was trying to find a Camping Fridge Unit that would run for about 5-7 days just on that 304AH battery. Hoping VL60S will be somewhat efficient. Also you mentioned
      A discount code. Would that be also for the VL60S as well? It’s listed on Amazon $624.41 (taxes and shipping included).

    • @Jasonoid
      @Jasonoid  Před 2 lety +1

      @@Dareall13Cd Interesting power consumption results. At a 100F, even with the fridge compressor running 100% of the time the ICECO would only pull 40 watts max on ECO mode and should still be able to keep the contents cool (if the fridge is shaded), that 300ah battery should last for weeks at that load! Your battery almost has 4000wh of capacity so divide that by 40 watts and that's the time frame you "should" be seeing on a runtime.
      Weird you aren't seeing longer run times, even off the AC inverter efficiency losses. My 100ah 12v lifepo4 lasts about a week usually running a fridge.
