You knew he really liked it when the manual pages were stuck together.
lololol ....
I love watching Hobotech. I learn a lot about solar and everything the Professor tests. I don't miss an episode.
Hobotech does a fantastic job with his CZcams channel! Nice work!
Thank you so much for the review video and discount code, I just ordered a JP50 with it.
As always, another excellent, solid review. What a great resource.
just ordered the jp50 and the jp series slide and your discount applied to both. thanks professor HOBO!
Just received my jackery in the mail thank you for your product reviews now I'm saving up for my solar panels
Just utilized your discount to buy this product. Many thanks! I have been using Engle freezer in my truck for many years, but wanted another freezer for our second vehicle.
Thanks for the thorough review.
Thank you for your professional approach to metrology.
Great review, especially since I have a ac50s on the way to see what I can expect. I have the jp50 and love it. It's scary quiet, efficient, just no problems at all.
A man with a good beer taste. Greetings from Germany 👍
"The pages are sticky" - glad you followed that up...
I have this unit for a year now. I use it for RV camping and local trips. I have use this for a freezer when. I have over stock of meat GREAT unit and very happy with it.
THE BEST REVIEWER ON CZcams. There are SOOOOO many reviewers... THIS GUY gets it right EVERYTIME.
Given the price of the JP40 even with your coupon, I am glad I was able to get that BougeRV model you reviewed a couple of weeks ago. At $311 with your code, I feel I got a very competent and comparable fridge - with more room - for a very good price. It may not have that efficient Dan Foss compressor, but for someone like me whose needs are not super-demanding, I think I got a real steal and saved a good chunk of change with the BougeRV model. Thanks for both reviews!
Thank you for this review! This finally helped me make a decision I've been struggling with for quite some time. Cheap 50 quart I can afford to replace, quality 50 quart I hopefully won't have to, or a very small standard 120-volt compressor fridge on an inverter. The surprising efficiency and 5-year warranty finally cinched the deal for me, and the 12% discount didn't hurt either. I just ordered the 53 quart.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your reviews and for the awesome discount code. I bought the JP40 pro series today. Just me and my dog traveling, so we just needed a small refrigerator. I enjoy your sense of humor and really appreciate all the technical info.
I just ordered a JP40 and was able to use your discount and got a great price. Thanks!
Thank you, you helped me make my decision 👏🏼
I have the jp50. Ive had it a little over a year. It stays in the bed of my truck that has a topper on it. I run it with a jackery 1000 on DC. And I charge the Jackery with the DC plug in the truck. It’s super efficient. Love the set up. I got the jackery 1000 because of yours videos. Love your reviews. Keep up the good work
Thanks for the help! You’re a big reason why I picked up a ICECO TR60 today! Just put up a first look video on my channel!
Perfect fridges for emergency use with power stations. Thanks for the vid!!!
i bought one in the spring at wayfair canada $776 all in...used all summer...very pleased with it in my camperized truck canopy...good buy !!!
Got myself a bluetti AC50s! Stoked!
Have you ever tried to contact Bluetti? You could only reach them by email and they never get back to you. I ordered solar panels with my Bluetti and the panels never shipped with the Bluetti. And now I can’t get any info on where there at. It’s been one week so far
Thank you professor for that discount code. Just rec'd my JP40. Saved $65!
Great review. Thanks!
Bob Wells loves Danfoss compressors. Good fridge!
Super excited to get mine! I used your code and saved 12%. Your extensive product reviews helped me make the decision to get this one. Thank You very much!
Hi where is the code?
Very amazing review I'm going to get this over the expensive dometic. Thank you!
Just arrived from amazon, everything works and I'm satisfied customer 😁
I love my JP40 and run it full time in my truck. It was an amazing deal on an Amazon lightning deal, right at $380 after tax just a few months ago.
Thanks for the info! 😃👍🏻👊🏻
Excellent review. 🇨🇦
Ordered this today....thanks ICECO for giving HOBOTEC the discount.
I ordered the JP30. Was on sale plus your discount...score!
Purchased a jp50 a couple of months ago.
Nice!!
I ordered it 9/26 @8 pm. It arrived 10/1 @2 pm. Great delivery!
Nice job . No bs just tech . Thanks
The JP40 is the one that in my opinion is the best choice for me. It’s not the weight - all three models are similar in that aspect. For me, the middle model may possibly not overtax the compressor and will possibly extend the life of the unit. There are always trade-offs and so I am just looking at the fact that they all use the same internals so I like to back off a bit on the additional demand of the increased volume of the “50”.
I really appreciate the discount code - it made the purchase very palatable. Thanks for that.
excellent video sir!
Love the Channel and just ordered this Fridge for my new Overland Build ! Thanks for all of the great info ! BTW, I'm looking at the Maxoak AC100 and would love to see you review that model soon.
I'm running this fridge off the Dometic PLB40 LiFePo4 battery. It's been a perfect combination running full time in my truck. The battery has pass through charging so it stays topped off when the vehicle is running.
Thank you for the video.
Including the case is a good accessory seems it would help to make it weather proof if you wanted to leave it outside while camping.
Love your cat at end.
Thanks for the excellent review and testing of the power consumption.
Since my jeep has a built in 150W inverter, which does shut off when the engine stops, my thought is to put a Jackery Explorer 1500 or Bluetti AC200P in the back of my Jeep and then plug the fridge into that. This way
1) It can run off the Jackery/Bluetti a few days while camped and vehicle not running
2) While in transit, it will likewise run off the Jackery/Buetti
3) While in transit, the Jackery/Bluetti will charge from the inverter as needed.
If we do a quick trip with lots of stops, for instance one of the guided drives in a national park, I can unplug the Jackery/Bluetti from the inverter to avoid constant power surges. It will keep the fridge running and on the longer drive home or back to camp, I just plug it back into the inverter to make up lost power.
And obviously I now have a separate power bank for other uses as well.
It's the best I can come up with to have a "best of both worlds".
Thoughts on that approach / setup ?
Just in time!!!
Manual has been in the bathroom and the pages are stuck together, "No I haven't been doing any extra-curricular activity". Too damn funny!! Thanks for the review Tom.
Warsteiner beer! Nice choice, Herr Hobo!!!
Confirms I made a good choice on the JP50, can't wait to start using it with my AC50S when it shows up. Great video 👍
I'll have the same set up
I got the 50 too, its been fantastic so far and running fine on 100w solar and 100 amp hour agm battery
That IceCo cooler fridge/freezer looks pretty impressive. That would be awesome to take camping or off-roading for a weekend trip. Pair it with a Jackery and you’d be set. Especially if you brought a 100W solar panel to recharge the Jackery. You do some great reviews, my friend. It was really cool to find out you have a degree in physics. You sound very educated and I never thought of you as being a hobo lol 😂. God bless you and take care!
Thank you. I just ordered the GO20 and cover saving $62. Because of you, I also own a Jackery 300 and 3000; both I feel, will adequately run the GO20 depending on our needs.
new sub here but I’ve been hiding in the shadows for a good year now,
But hey a big congrats to you on the house I’m so happy for you.
Nice chair, Sir!
Damn, do I have to buy 1 of these TOO. Thanks. TAKE CARE..
You are a funny man... I like it..! Keep up the great videos..!
Good fresh info. I'm at a van dweller meet up today in Navada. Might see Bob Wells here today if I'm lucky (-:
"No I haven't been doing any extra-curricular activity" hahaha

Extra curricular activity and Jackery go hand in hand
Bought one a year ago. Been running since.
We need to put more hobos in lab jackets. This was very helpful.
Please review the vl series. That's what I have in mind!
Thanks
I don’t even need that thing but this review make me want one 😂
Excellent review. Thanks very much.
Trying to get one in Canada is proving difficult. Iceco say they will call you back and dont.
Another great realistic video demonstration. I think it goes without saying if a refrigerator comes with a cover bag. It is obvious they know they failed to adequately design the insulation value.
"Das einzig wahre Warsteiner" Greetings from the Land of Beer, Germany ;-)
Sorry buddy but the Czech Republic has you beat in the beer consumption category. You’re number 3. 😢
Onion Head who talks about consumption..quality😉👌🏼
@@onionhead5780 no wounder! the germans are in a hurry to work for muslim occupators delivered by their Government. we have no time to celebrate! 😁
We have good beer in America and it is less filling with great taste !
Hi Professor. Try running a separate fan through the compressor compartment of various chest freezers and see the results. I've had different results with computer fans giving a boost. Also, you will notice a distinct difference in power draw between various sizes of a fridge model. I always want all the specs for ECO in DC power.
I have iceco 20 works. great
Been looking for a fridge to use in my XJ for off roading and other trips and it looks like I'll be going with the ICECO! Looking at the JP30 or JP40
Yo Tom! I AM in the market for one of these.....hmmmmmm.......you helped me with ALL the rest of my tech stuff....hmmmm.....Dan Foss!
Good morning Professor Hobotech! First to leave a comment and I'm just getting home from work! AND I WISH I can afford this Iceco JP40
Apply to AFFIRM and make payments. I bought 7 solar battery's using this technique 😁
@@samog777 which batterys did you buy?
wow...really good review...watched it years ago, as well as now...tyvm...this jp40 seems to still be a monster value in April '23...any other products that could compete with it?
Would love it if they made the Icooler with the upgraded German compressor.
Click the link and look at the website.
Nice review. Efficiency was excellent. Do you think a bag like the one here would help on the iCooler?
Adding any insulation helps.
I hooked up my new Jackery 500 and JP40 with jacket and left it in my garage last night. Room temperature was 78F. The Jackery only last 11 hours when start the fridge from room temperature. It didn't even reach to zero. The fridge was filled 20% with water bottle and two cold packs. Not sure why it use so much power. It draws 49W in the beginning and around 43W most of the time. In the morning when the power was down to 10% left, it still drawing 37W.
That's not consistent with my testing. It would use more power if you fill it with warm stuff then turn it on.
Takes a while for the fridge/alot of energy to cool water. Should last awhile once cool.
Always cool it off AC power then switch to DC once you are portable. Mine uses very little power even with high ambient temperatures. It is meant to be most efficient off DC so hopefully you didn't have it plugged in with the AC cord?
Had this model for past 2 months, works great as a fridge and a freezer. The small upper compartment is 20 degrees higher than the main compartment so if you have it set at 32 the small compartment is at 50+, not in the range to keep food fresh so don't get the point of the small compartment unless you are using the main as a freezer. Making the outside case and the "insulating" cover black doesn't make sense in terms of keeping the unit more efficient when in sunlight. There is water condensation around the cover which makes me wonder if the seal around the cover is tight enough, the 2 dimples on the bottom help collecting the condensation on the inside BTW, the customer support is non-existent when trying to contact them with questions via phone or email
I actually had good luck with their support, after a go20 divider was defective. They sent a replacement in a week. Maybe the craziness has impacted them.
the chinese art of war! 😁
Great review as always. Can't figure out why they would make a cooler or a cover in black.
Because you're not supposed to put it in direct sun.
your.videos are always informative. is there any heat from the compressor fan that would cause your car/camper to get hot while it is running
Hello Professor Hobo, hope all is well with you. The review you provided for the ICECO JP40 was great! I purchased the ICECO JP50 Model and I also purchased the New Jackery 300 to use it with the JP50 when there is a power outage. What do you think? Best, Alex
BTW Bud, the new studio is terrific. I watch you & Will. Your individual takes & experiments are very complimentary, one to another. Keep it up!
Thanks. I still have a lot of work to do on it. Soundproofing, new computer, etc.
It looks great on screen. Sound is good!
The Danfoss compressors are now Secop with manufactures in Slovakia & China....
Bottles of wine maybe? Just a guess on those round circles.
Why would they use BLACK on lid and COVER? Not white? which would help if left in the SUN? Hmmmmm......
Racist!.......lol
What combination, if any, would enable someone to recharge an eBike? eBikes sound like the ultimate bug out vehicle in a SHTF scenario. Of course the issue is that they have limited ranges of between 25-70 miles depending on load and terrain.
But... if one had a renewable way to recharge the batteries, you could have a great system for extended travel. Of course the set-up would have to be pretty portable.
Is that a bottle of Warsteiner? Good man.
Well, thank goodness there was no "extracurricular activity" with the operating manual.
Hi Tom. I really enjoy your content. Keep up the great work! Question: I am going to be living out of my truck with a camper shell for the foreseeable future. My power needs include: smartphone, tablet, camera batteries, and drone batteries, as well as a small refrigerator like the Iceco GO20. In your opinion, do you think something like the Jackery 1000 with a 100w monocrystalline panel attached to my shell, as well as a 100w foldable panel to deploy when camped, in conjunction with DC charging while driving, will be enough to get me by? Is there a different configuration or specific brands you would recommend? Your time and advice are greatly appreciated! Thank you. Jason.
Hey PROF, I just ordered the larger version of this fridge and was wondering if you could recommend a power solution for my truck. I currently have only a jacked 500. I’m wondering if I should get a larger lithium solgen or a dedicated deep cycle solution for my truck. Use will be the monthly 2-3 day camping and annual longer overlanding trips for 7-10 days. Thanks! Keep up the great work!
Wish they would do a 20% off sale on amazon...I guess if you buy the extended warranty you can be good for 10 years.
i was lucky to buy this on sale on amazon back in july
You can watch Amazon. I bought mine on a lightning deal a few months ago. It may happen again for holiday shopping. I think I paid around $380 after tax. Definitely a bargain.
And you can sit or stand on it.
Well I'd guess those intentions on the bottom are to stand up wine bottles trying to get the cork top in those little holes in the lid would be a pain. OMG did you use a jackery 240 to power that fridge for a little while mixing generators could make something explode. Good video but that fridge is over 500 buck's way outta my price range at the moment. Have a good day.
Hi Hobotech
Do the covers help or hinder the fridge efficiency when used?
I thought that the covers were only used when the fridge was not powered on?
Regards Rob
Even in moderate sunlight the black/dark gray color does not help the heat gain problem..
Thanks so much for the reviews, been a follow for long time, but I think I am overwhelmed by so many choices. If you had one to pick and it was around a 50 or larger , what would it be. I use a cooler every day, it sits in front seat of ford ranger. I am in construction during the week and camping and such on weekends. Any help would be appreciated
How about a comparison between ICECO JP40 and their ICECO VL45. =)
Can you do a solar ac/heater? That requires zero bills
I bought the jp40 and the go20 recently. Both said 3 year warranty instead of 5.
Back of the manual says 5 years.
@@HOBOTECH On the recent Indiegogo JP42 iCooler I've seen them publish 1 year, 2 years, and on the back of the accompanying manual it says 5 years. I guess it's take-your-pick.
The dimples might be…as you said for 2 L bottles…so the lid can close with the bottles standing up
I see you filled it up when testing. Is that because it will use less energy as opposed to having it empty?
Is a Danfoss compressor rotary ? this probably the simple answer to his current consumption (since it's easier to turn a wheel than to climb a ladder, right ? ) more than it's nationality :)
Could you test the Massimo e-cooler which is sold by Costco?
