Basically it's like Ben 10's omnitrix watch. Transform into something else and use the original's skills and expertise.
Now that you explained all this. Let talk about Simulacras' growth, since the Simulacras can still watch and learns, even talking with the users.
So far, there's a few real original, like KING and Simar, that we met and saw.
At the start, the Simulacras we were provided and purchased, up-to-date or old version either way, that they are in "prototype" form.
The longer the user had use and talk to the Simulacras (since the MC can allow to gift and fond with Simulacras), the more Simulacras gain some bit personalities of their own, even starting to questioning their own self despite knowing that they're AI.
That's why they have "awaken" form of their own than the originals' appearance, those Simulacras are their own self, and especially Simulacras' path with the MC are being differ to originals, but they haven't forgotten their ambition and what they're fighting for.
That's all my sum up I can give here.
I will be honest, it's indeed creepy, but I like Simulacrum System gaining sentient as a growth and I don't see them as the threat.
The only concern I have. . . . *is when Hykros going to flip the switch, only to make Simulacras to turn back on MC*

Honestly, this system is really confusing and like you said, kinda creepy. Especially when you are talking to the AI. I only bonded with Nemesis so far, and I thought that I was talking to the real one. Since she often says that she is anxious of her new body and she even contacted me just because a bug scared her. Is this really an AI? And it's really creepy that we are texting to an AI when the real one is actually with us (in Nemesis' case). I understand if the original is in coma like Huma or missing like Meryl. But for the case when they are still around like Samir and especially Nemesis, who is literally by our side, this talking with AI system is quite questionable. And personally, it put me off. I love the game and story, but this very part is always bugging me
Since Hykros froze time for their bodies and are unable to age or get diseases, then how does their bodies store memories? What if they get stabbed or shot, would that kill them? How do you eliminate them? Can they rewind time for their own bodies and look a specifc age?

damn this channel is so underated
im getting major soma vibes from simulacra, like sure theyre not using it maliciously (afaik) but is it really ok to basically enslave a human mind for essentially eternity. itd be a different story if they made an algorithm to replicate fighting styles (sorta like ai learning chess from the best players), but these are from my understanding human minds that have been lobotomized. so no i dont think i jive with the system but its a cool plot device for sure.

Honestly this system is one of the reasons why I almost immidiately grew to dislike the games world and story. Not only is it incredibly impersonal as we never actuallly get to know these people but there are some horrific implications and possibilities with this system and it is off putting as hell. I dont see a reason why we couldnt just meet the people and have them as quasi traveling companions as it is in genshin, this is needlessly convoluted and simply unappealing system.
It also doesnt really feel like a system that would be feasibly developed, the idea of simply downloading someones skills and or memories is just fine and I think thats where it would end as thats all you practically need.
