Great review. Your review has always been the most helpful, most detailed I can find on CZcams.
Thanks for the review - I watched it several times :) After a week of looking at reviews and waiting for my money to get the only silver one available in Bulgaria, where I live, at last I got it! I also have a thin wrist - 16.5 cm, but I just pull it off. I have been waiting for a g shock that suits me for 20 years )the first I heard of them) and finally I got it - the perfect g shock, which for me personally extends to the perfect digital watch, both esthetically and functionally.
I really like long form reviews, personally. Thanks very much. Please keep them coming, ideally more G-Shocks :)
nice to see people are still into g-shocks. I bought my first g-shock 8 years ago and i still love them to this day. I don't need a smartwatch, g-shock for life! lool
Thanks Jason Statham
Jason Statham yeah I liked these watches, no need for smart watches because I got a smart phone
Have the blacked out version, before buying i was concerned about the readability of the negative display, but WOW, it got so much better! Getting the Silver one anyway now too! Thanks for the review!
I'm so happy because you gave me size information.
Thank you.
Most in-depth review I've seen yet on this watch. Well done!
Thanks, I felt it was the only way 😄
Is it only the black dial available now with the gold g shock ??
Thanks for putting in so much work making this video!
Thank you so much for the in-depth review, I found it very useful!
I bought one 3 months ago. I absolutely love it.
Thanks for the video! I originally thought the Bluetooth connectivity was a gimmick, but now I see that it's actually really useful. Definitely going to have to look into one of these.
Great to hear Tim, best of luck getting one :-)
One big bonus of the G- Shock over the Apple watch is that the G-Shock is Solar, so no manual charging of the watch as is required with the Apple watch, and no battery to change for many many years. 👍
I bought a Tough Solar G-shock in 2010. Never had to change battery, and it's still fully charged. Amazing technology for sure.
Also... it's a watch. Not a peice of disposable consumer electronics. A watch with real, long term value for your life.
also g shock is timeless, apple watch became obsolete after couple of years
Great video review. I have now subscribed. Keep 'em coming!
Really good and extensive review. Thanks for the in-depth review! Just got mine today, as an alternative to my Apple Watch! 😉
The big advantage over the Apple Watch is that it doesn't need to be charged. The Apple Watch is a pain when you travel - plugging it in every night.
Currently waiting on my new metal g-shock 😊 to cool to pass up on.
Good review. I watched 4 other 10-15 minute reviews before this one and wasted my time with them as they were very generic . This was long but worth the time invested. 👌
great review, i just got myself the V version.
Enjoyed this tremendously 👌🏼 thank you
Great review, very entertaining. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, appreciate it!
I have a DW 5600 that I coated in matt black steel with old patina, after three years there is no scratch, it looks fantastic at a much lower price.
Don't apologise for the length of the video. I'm in it till the end!
You could buy a polishing lathe and a Bufflex wheel. This way you could polish out any scratches easily. That is what I do. For the mirror finished part used could use a Cape Cod polishing cloth. Thanks for the video.
The renovated office looks great. 👍
Cheers Bob
Awesome watch, I'm thinking of getting one! Can you change the functions and settings without the cell phone connectivity? Love that there's finally a gshock that has day-month display!
very nice presentation sir. keep it up. please advise how to remove the reminder from the watch/app?
I just got the gold version with a negative display. The gold is brushed in most places so it looks pretty good without being too flashy.
Lol without being to flashy it’s a golden watch it stands out even the silver is to flashy for me I like and prefer the black resin version
Verf good and informative review:-) Do You have any information or experience how good the black metal coating is on the bracelett agianst scratches and normal use.... ?? Thanks.
I have a G-Shock GA-100CF that I love... The only thing I wear more each day is my wedding ring... Looking to get another G-Shock and this one is super cool!!! Dang... They make so many G-Shocks!!! So hard to decide... Nice video...
Thanks and yes I know... wayyyyy too much choice with these but I tend to stick to limited models now so it narrows it down
that casio is gorgeous !
excellent review!
Nice watch, Thank you, good job!
Tks for making this video! How deep it is..
Hi I think it’s approx 14mm
For around 100 dollars nz I made an old gw5600 look like the stainless one. Even comes with all tools needed
ordered mine, can't wait to were it! So far the only watch that caught my attention of Casio
You'll love it mate!
Great review, really tempted
I’d recommend it and who knows how long they’ll be available
is the silver version going to be a limited release?
What sizes is it suitable for? since I have a 16.5 cm wrist
I've only seen the gold version in a negative display. Is yours a limited edition?
I hope you still have the gold model with positive display. They are worth heaps now.
excellent video..
Thanks Steven, appreciate it
From what I gather the gold with positive display is limited edition. All the others (silver, black and gold with negative display) are not limited. Neither 35th anniversary.
Do you know how rare that gold positive display version has become? No retail outlet has it anymore, it seems to be sold out everywhere. The gold negative display version is readily available, but not the positive.
hey wassup. what did you end up doing with your gold square? i still got my GMW-B5000TFG-9 aka full metal rare unworn with original stickers on it still lol.
will the regular dw5600 bezel fit?
Cool review. I’m not sure if I get the point of using the phone to operate the watch. Why not just do it on the watch? But I like that they brought back (from dw5600e) time display while in stopwatch and timer mode. I wish they had that more often.
Why are some screens light and some screens black? Espacially with the gold one's
How does the black one look in person?
The Timestamp feature is very cool
I have 6 casios (two calculator watches) classic fw, and 3 of those are dw5600. The de5600sk and dw5600bb ( @14:02 ) and dw5600 (forget the code but baby blue on the inside of band and black all around)
Thinking of selling it (as I prefer the negative displays).
Does anyone have the black steel that they have worn consistently over the past few months? If so, how has it worn over time? Any scratches with daily wear?
Is it just me or does the plastic from the old modlez feel so much better
18:03 I'm actually living and watching this from Zagreb,what a coincidence 😂
Danijel Vidović ZDS!
Ja sam blizu Varaždina bas sam naručio zlatnog!
Kupio prije 6 mjeseci zlatog, jako sam zadovoljan, samo sto su mi na carini uzeli soma kuna tj 25 posto
Believe me, that’s a tough watch. 1 year on my hand, and barely can notice few small scratches, even that my watch gets heavy hits into walls or other metals as daily basis.
Great video mate!
Cheers Richard, apologise for the delayed response
Wonder if there are any more floating online up for grabs
i was looking for this kind of video for a long time, great job thank you very much, which version you think is nicer?
Thanks, gold is my favourite. I love it 😄
Para mim o prata.
I have the steel one and I regret buying it. The hourly signal and the alarm are just not audible in power save mode unless I hold the watch to my ear. If I turn off the power save mode then the hourly signal is audible softly, provided I'm looking at the watch when the minutes turn to 00. Not sure whether I got a damaged piece.
Did you end up keeping the gold one?
Are you a Tintin fan? Is that the Moon Rocket near the monitor?
Great video but the B5000 have special display compared to others not mentioned
Best you tube guide I've found on this watch 😊👍
Both of them are from 35th anniversary? Does it have the word ‘ Project Team Tough ‘?
Does anyone know where you can buy a gold one for a fair price that is also safe and legit?
are these watches limited edition ?
Had mine a few weeks now, worth every penny. Even though it cost me way over list price. Great review really helped me on a couple things. Still having trouble working the find phone feature any help please.
Yeah that feature seems a little bit hit and miss. I’m not sure I can help with it 😔
Are you still having trouble?
They are ridiculous but so cool at the same time
Ha! I know what you mean but very recognisable and iconic in their own way
Superb review, was wondering if when you send one of the world city times down to watch from the app, does the watch display in text and scroll the city name ( one of the 300)?
Yes it does 👍🏻
It scrolls the city name, then shows your local time in the dot matrix display.
Because of scarcities the price gone up crazy.
I bought the gold version from a reseller at USD 1,500 (original retail price USD 600)
they are like 450$ now :(
ReformMsia u got finessed my guy 😂
@@nxovva yo for real he did
Fantastic review and because of it I’m buying the steel one! Been looking for a METAL digital watch. It is Stainless steel yes?
Thanks and yes, all steel 😊
I can’t find a retailer! I want one I’m in the US. Where did you get it?
@@ledyardpritchard4681 I just got mine and apparently it came from Switzerland lol, with a note saying it's cold lol
Are they both made in Japan?
Ps: Great review, thanks!
Where did you get the gold version with the positive LCD? I've only seen the gold with the negative display. Great review anyway, really in depth and no fluff!
The +ve dial/gold was actually a limited edition at first release. Values were high until the negative display came out.
Hello!
Thank you for this review! Very informative 😊
How can we distinguish between an authentic Casio G-Shock GMW-B5000 (steel) from a fake? Is there a list of serial numbers for authentic ones or something like that? Or, some marks/signs found only on the authentic?
Nowadays, fake watches almost look like the originals on the outside; it's when we open them that we can know for sure. But, I don't want to open an authentic watch just to confirm its authenticity.
Thank you!
Bought the silver one v happy w my purchase
isnt it steel?
MrSimon1909
It’s in silver color steel
bought the polished stainless steel on december last year. loving it
May I know why for the gold version, some model i saw with black background and some with "grey" background.. is it a setting to it or model dependent?
I believe the lighter background ones were like the limited first editions. Production ones have the black background from what I've seen
You can modify them.
Is it possible to change the positive display to negative display on both? In other reviews the gold has a negative display
Yes, it is possible to change the positive display to negative, there are tutorials on CZcams. This video features a gold square with positive display because it is the original version, now discontinued. The gold version with negative display came after and is still in production.
Nice collection.
Thanks, it's taken many years to get it to where it is.
Just started watching your video, while i appreciate it, i was wondering about all the scratches on your hands and arms, do you have cats?
Hi There I have a question about this model. Does this have message notifications or email notification in this model ? I had this question because it has Bluetooth connection.
Let me know about it thanks
No, I thought it did to be honest but it’s more for swapping settings with the phone app.
thanks for the review. I am considering buying a watch... i like the looks of the G-shock 's but the prices (for the ones I would like to buy) are close to the apple watch.. I am closer to making my mind up.
I think the biggest competition is the Apple Watch, but in a year, it’ll be out of date. In 15 years, you’ll still have the g shock and you can think back to all the adventures you’ve taken it on.
This looks like a fantastic watch. I fell in love with it at first site. I'm hoping Casio will produce a (hopefully) cheaper steel square g-shock with steel bracelet for the American market. I can't imagine Americans not buying these like crazy, though I doubt Casio will do this; they don't even want to release the g-shock square with the combi bracelet for the American market. Not every likes plastic bracelets.
I can see it happening at some point but the module used for this watch will be much better
Great review. Any idea how many of these they made?
Thanks. I'm not 100% but around 1000 or so I think
the only think I kinda miss in this watch is that there is no indication for battery on the screen like on gmw 5610. and you have to watch for it on the phone. but overall its absolutely astonishing.
I've found that one doesn't even think about charge or the battery. If it gets low, it lets you know.
Thanks for sharing ( second viewing 👍)
Do you have an idea on how many gold were released?
Cheers 🍻
Alarm too quiet, that’s why I sold my GW5000 1jf. Good review.
Yes I can imagine that's correct there. I use my phone for an alarm sadly :-D
Would you guys suggest the gold or the silver as a casual everyday watch? Like work, maybe to the gym and simple cafeteria...
JsOnMyFeet23 for work and gym? Maybe try other g-shock these full metal ones silver and gold are more of a night out/date night watches
Wearing the gold in the gym is gonna make a serious impression!
Gold watch looks like it has polished strap links compared to the brushed steel model?
Yes the Gold model is very polished
Gold or Silver?🙌🙌 torn between the 2
Love these watches
Glad to hear it :-)
:)
One of the *best* watches you can buy on *Earth*
They're certainly the toughest and most accurate!
How come all of the Gold editions don’t come in that box from other reviews I’ve seen?
That is the gold positive display, limited edition. They came in a special box.
@@lasiqueiros ah, that makes sense. I was about to be salty because mine didn’t haha
Brilliant review, can you tell me the limited edition numbers for the gold and stainless ones please? I’ve had an email saying the stainless is back in stock.
Gold is now sold out I believe. Steel appears to have become a full production model.
I use to love cassio's databank watches until I started getting phones with memory.
The nostalgia value is still there though
Do you happen to know how to size the strap? Pop out the pins or unscrew perhaps? thanks!
The bracelet fits to the watch with spring bars around 14-16mm wide. It’s not really a watch you can buy anything other than Casio straps for, although there are NATO adapters available I think.
@@WatchHobbyist the strap.. Is compatible with D5600 nylon strap?
I wonder if they'll ever make one using all Titanium. I have a Titanium Samurai and it's quite a bit lighter than the steel one. Doesn't scratch much either. Just a thought. Good video.
Titanium actually scratches really easily, but being a seiko, yours may have the Diashield coating. There’s many grades of Titanium which contain different alloys, but whichever they used, I would be all over a Titanium one. Casio have used it before so it’s plausible down the line.
You're right. However I have found that it doesn't scratch the top of the case too much, but on my SKZ205 40th Ann, where the back of the case comes in contact with the clasp, there is some because it's Ti vs Ti. Also, I would like to be on the mailing list for a Ti Gshock Square. Maybe the 40th Anniversary.
Did you get the Titanium version in the end? They are super expensive (comparatively).
😂😂😂 mine is all scratch up lol looks good tho !!!
This GMW-B5000 is my daily. Rolexes in the safe and gave my Apple Watch to my niece.
Still the same a month on from your comment?
Yep!
Yeah u get this, other watches will retire
You never pressed the time stamp because 8/10 times it just disconnects the watch from the phone without doing the time stamp it's too hard to gauge and master and you should've highlighted that!
Sheldon Cooper?
Hi there, this video alone deserves a subscribe, there is so much snobbery in the watch world and I am so glad I am not one of them, I love watches at all levels regardless of make and movement, Casio G shock is a fine example I have couple of cheap Casio LCD's that I haven't used since 2006 I came across them the other day they are still working unbelievable.
Thanks, Casio have always made exceptional watches that are highly underrated.
Love my DW M5610 as much as I do my Rolex Explorer 1, my Speedmaster and my Seiko Tuna. Never understood why those who have a passion for watches criticise those who are equally as passionate about their watches!
