    I own the bare titanium colored MRG square and the GMW 5000TB and GW5000TCM. The non MRG titanium squares are hard to beat. The MRG is cool because you know you are wearing a flagship model. Only notable difference is slightly higher bracelet quality on the MRG square. I initially bought the black MRG square but ended ip exchanging it for the titanium colored one because the matte finish on the black gmw5000tb titaniun square was much nicer IMHO. Edit: I also purchased the TFC when it first came out and the chrono 24 seller cancelled my order and raised the price by 50 percent. Glad I ended up with the TB.

    • @masterwatch
      @masterwatch  Před 17 dny

      The TB is still probably one of the coolest with the TCM camo these could be the coolest titanium squares. MR-Gs are good but they are expensive so it is best to really know the MR-G is what you want. I have a feeling Casio might give the MR-G treatment to the King GXW-56 with the B5000TB colour way and this will be so cool.

    "If we don't think about the price for a moment..." The difference between the MRG- and GMW is too small (in my opinion) to justify 7 times the price. Especially as the module inside is basicly the same.

      I have to disagree. I own a GMW and have seen the MRG in person - and the difference on the finishing is night and day. While the GMW is a great watch that I love wearing - the case is way too polished.
      I'm in the market for an MRG - but I wouldn't purchase one at retail price. The fact that it's made with such robust construction/scratch resident material means it's a great watch to purchase second hand.

    • @MrPleers
      @MrPleers Před 2 měsíci +2

      @@smirking8457 Lets agree to disagree. For me the MRG is overcomplication for overcomplication sake. The bezel made out of 25 parts instead of a single solid piece. Just to make it look a little bit nicer. But 25 parts means so much more that can go wrong. Probable most people who pay a few grand for a G-Shock will wear it like a precious high end watch instead of a beater watch. And I guess Casio is counting on that.

      The price delta is a big one.. I often think that myself actually. The MR-Gs do feel more premium even though they are lighter because of the titanium. When looking close at them you can probably tell the build quality and tolerances are very tight on the MR-Gs.. but if a person is price conscious I'd say go GMW because they are still very good.

    Thanks for your videos reviewing the MRG-B5000. I've watched most of your reviews, if not all, on MRG-B5000 to aid my decision.
    I wound up getting:
    MRG-B5000B-1JR
    MRG-B5000D-1JR
    (Not both at once. Got the MRG-B5000B-1JR first. After a few weeks I decided that MRG-B5000D-1JR is better suited for daily wear)
    Like many, I was put off by the price initially.
    But after some research I decided to add them to my collection. Another factor that edged me toward the purchase - I was able to purchase them at a discount from the sticker price with tax refund and currency exchange rate. (I am fortunate enough to be able to travel in Japan for business)
    With the watch in hand there is a certain texture and visual impact that does not come across in video. Not to say you didn't do your best to present them.
    There will be detractors that denigrate the asking price for these time pieces; Which can be understandable.
    However I've come to the conclusion that watch collecting is not based purely on rationale.
    If I may, the bezel is made of a proprietary CoCrMo alloy, trade name - COBARION
    www.eiwa-heartmake.com/cocrmo/
    The titanium used in the bracelet and casing is a proprietary alloy from Daido SteelCo., trade name DAT-55G, which is different from the more commonly used Grade 5 (6Al4v) Ti-alloy.

    cdn.ymaws.com/titanium.org/resource/resmgr/2005_2009_papers/Ogawa2006.pdf

    I’ve got the black titanium GMW-B5000 and it is way more subtle than the black MR-G because, excluding the top of the bezel and corners of the midlinks, it had a matte finish. It also borrows from the yellow DW-5000C rather than the red one so has a yellow line. The red line does shimmer in the light - that, the amount of details and the matte gold caseback are my favorite aspects the watch. I love both and the MR-G is clearly premium but wish they’d gone for more matte finishing. If the bracelet had been matte, it would have made the polished rivets pop like an the raw (natural) titanium MR-G.
    My gripe against the all-steel variants is they are very heavy. Even without the bracelet, they have more heft than I want in a wristwatch.
