An old friend of the Doctor’s returns to face his oldest enemies in a brand-new full-cast audio drama, released today from Big Finish Productions.
Fugitive of the Daleks, a six-part adventure written by Jonathan Morris, pairs Maureen O’Brien as an older Vicki alongside the First Doctor (Stephen Noonan), with Nicholas Briggs directing, script editing and voicing the Daleks.
Years after ending her travels with the Doctor, Vicki finds herself back in the TARDIS. The Doctor desperately needs her help, and she’s only too happy to oblige. But in the process, the two of them fall into a series of perilous encounters, with the dreaded Daleks never far behind them.
What is the mysterious presence inside the TARDIS? And precisely what damage do the Daleks and their agents intend to cause to the flow of Earth’s history?
The Doctor and Vicki must call upon all their guile and bravery to discover the truth and save the day.

Great to see Stephen and Lauren working alongside Maureen. I enjoyed doing their first photoshoot together, and they make such a good pairing.

I've been wanting Stephen Noonan's First Doctor to encounter the iconic pepperpots for a while, and Jonny Morris' six-part story has exceeded my expectations. Fugitive of the Daleks - an incredible 1DA audio which I wholeheartedly recommend!

If you do a story with Anneke Wills, make it a flashback story where she and Ben are visiting Dodo in the countrycide where she is healing after the WOTAN incident and they recall an old adventure to her.
I love the energy this cast brings to the 1st Doctor era and how much they honor the feel of it! Going to be a blast listening to the new set 👏

These first doctor releases are becoming essential purchases for me. I wasn't around for Hartnell, Pertwee was my gateway to the show. But these feel like authentic Hartnell and it gives me an opportunity to enjoy his era as though I was there firsthand. Hope Stephen Noonan and the gang are planning on sticking around and giving us plenty more journeys in that magical blue box! Magnificent.

I certainly have no intention of moving on from the experiment, so long as my services are required.

We’re gearing up to do the next one now, and the process becomes more fascinating each time.

Can't wait to listen to this, i adore Stephen take on the First Doctor he captures the tone & mannerisms perfectly while adding his own stamp to the character.
The lovely Lauren ❤ as Dodo whos added great depth to the character which was lacking on the Tv series.
Plus Maureen O' Brien as Vicki battling the Daleks is wonderful

*What* stamp, if you would point it out I would be very enlightened....
I can see David Bradley's own take on the character very easily, Just as Richard Hurndall put his own take on it. Stephen Noonan on the other hand obsessively imitates _William Hartnell_ and his quirks to the point it sounds like a fan obsessing over his delivery, rather than an actor giving a performance.
In his defence though the scripts have not been very good so far. And there is far too much a fixation on the Doctor and Dodo being very literal recreations of that Sixties artificiality seen on the television screen. When what is needed is a meeting point between that era, and the modernday.
It can be done, the David Bradley series did it marvellously. But when super-fans get involved and obsess over being as literal a recreation as possible, they end up not seeing what is wrong about their approach here...

@@stephennoonan8417 Listened to this amazing 6 parter 3 times now & its been included in my top 10 favourite BF Dalek stories i loved it, i prefer the longer stories & this was a very entertaining well written, acted 3 hr audio drama, loving your performances as the First Doctor 🖒🖒🖒

Had the rare occassion yesterday where I was actually able to listen to a new story on its release day and "Fugitive of the Daleks" did not disappoint! I've been thoroughly enjoying listening to BF's Doctor and Dodo stories and so happy that they've been given more time together. Such a great TARDIS team. Lauren Cornelius is wonderful as Dodo and just a pleasure to listen to. I'm also a sucker for a Doctor-companion reunion and having Maureen O'Brien back as Vicki and giving such a wonderful performance alongside Stephen Noonan and especially playing a certain scene that brought a bit of a tear to my eye is evidence of excellent writing, directing and acting. Well done all involved!

It's nice seeing the first Doctor getting some much needed attention.
I am still listening to it now as I am on part 3 as I love this so far as I am so proud of Steven as the doctor as he bring so much love and care to the role and the story is the best big finish story of the year so far and I am so proud of the rest of the cast and I can not wait for more next year and please do two box sets of the years please 🎉🎉

I adore Maureen O'Brien, and I agree that my impression of Vicki as a character has become just as influenced, if not more so, by her work for Big Finish. I'm absolutely thrilled for her return.
Yes! Thank you so much for finding a way to keep Dodo in the story! Love her character and Lauren does such a fantastic job playing her. There's so much to love out of these 1st Doctor stories. Stephen and Lauren are awesome and after watching this video, I'm going to start listening to Fugitive of the Daleks. Looking forward to hearing more of Maureen again playing Vicki. :D

So cool to hear that it was magically working with Maureen O'Brien. She's awesome as Vicki and it's so cool so still playing the character to this day. Vicki and Dodo were great together in this story. Can't wait to see what you guys do next with the 1st Doctor Adventures! :)

My sister sent me pics from Liverpool of all the snow, so I was ready, and listening to Fugitive eased the journey. I loved your interpretation of Bill’s Doctor along with the clever twists and turns of the plot! As a kid I kept in touch with Bill and Heather. They were so kind, and would always remember my younger sister and I on our birthdays and at Christmas. I believe they would be so happy with your Doctor, as am I. Many thanks, John. XX

Probably because he sounds nothing like William Hartnell. Bradley makes an passable on-screen first Doctor, but on audio he simply doesn't pass.
