    There are big issues with the review.
    @6:31 - There is a huge quality difference between the images. Moon City: The large tower is only partially printed on the FLSun, the small towers lack their tips, etc. Groot: The FLSun suffers from Z-wobble and quality loss because of smoothing.

    • @3dprintertest

      Smoothing can be solved by adjusting the input shaping, and both printers have their own advantages and disadvantages😉

      I think this is an interessting point, I have also seen other comparisons, where the Bambu printet more details at same speed then the V400. It might be more capable to change the print direction more abruptly, or just to better tuning. The V400 is much quieter though.

    • @foam27
      @foam27 Před rokem

      @@3dprintertest In stock configuration running input shaping is not an option since the V400 does not come with the accelerometer, and the stock firmware does not support it. That's why I returned in and have the Bambu. Also the advertised print volume is false on the V400. It's a cone at the top, not a full cylinder. :/

    • @foam27
      @foam27 Před rokem +3

      The Bambu build volume is true and comes with the sensor built in, for automated input shaping and micro lidar for automated flow setup. Neither of which the V400 has. One may be faster on flow rate, but without quality and tuning, the speed is unusable and pointless.

    • @rabenklang7
      @rabenklang7 Před rokem +3

      @@foam27 it seems that the V400 uses not the full potetial of klipper. It would be nice to see, if it archieves the same quality (at least like the P1P which has less sensors for auto calibration) if you would upgrade and tune the input shaper and pressure advance values nicely. The delta aproach is also good, I don't see why it is so unpopular. At the moment the price is an par with the P1P, and it has advantages -much quieter, larger build space, higher temp, more open source compatible and disadvantages- bigger, no enclosure out of the box- over the P1P. So I am on the fence.

    V400 is basically for PLA/PETG exclusively. Building a heated chamber would be a pretty big endeavor. The X1 has so much more flexibility in terms of use. vertical build volume is huge but that would also become a hindrance when printing ABS/ASA etc... even if you are able to build an enclosure.

      @@rikampravdu8904 I didn't say you cannot print these materials. I said it would be a big endeavor to build a chamber that allows for printing ABS/ASA etc...
      Though easy to come by, 3 large plexi glass sheets are not cheap yet and the sheets alone will do nothing without a frame robust enough to hold in place.
      The V400 does not come with a hardened nozzle so yes, you could but again you'll need upgrades.
      Any printer can be made to print 95% of available material, we all know this. Point is out of the box features and how much extra work it will take to get there.
      V400: No hepa filtration which is must for ABS/ASA, no spaghetti detection, no automatic PA/flow calibration per print/filament, no AMS system as robust as the proprietary BL system, etc...

    well done! i got my x1 last week, new to the 3d printing world, a big +1 is their software, camera, app on phone, and the AMS system. so if i understood correctly, the volume max flow only allows up to 350mms to print... but, what if i set my printer to 500mms (the max advertised)? does this mean it will give an uneven flow since the printer is moving faster than what the flow can give? i also want to mention the X1 is crap for TPU printing. i am printing at 50mms and its eh when it comes to bridging or overhangs. overall, loved your video and the way you presented all of this! bravo!

    • @bujin5455
      @bujin5455 Před rokem +8

      I think he's making too much out of flow rate. People have tested these printers, and when you set the machine to 500mm/s, it's seriously fast (much faster than it is at the 400mm/s setting). But the problem is still a matter of controlling the print head, pushing the upper speed limits will result in print quality starting to suffer (just like it does on the V400). I have both printers, I love them both. The speed is highly comparable. If you have the money, and you want a printer that is as close to a "push print and walk away" experience as you can get, the X1 Carbon combo wins hands down. Bambu is controlling the entire print chain, and is optimizing everything together. Bambu was founded by DJI engineers, so they know how to do this stuff, and it shows. This is a first generation product, and it's already amazing, and they are continuing to refine it. The X1 is what you buy if you prefer the "Apple" experience (the company is going to work all the details out for you). The V400 is the one to buy if you prefer more of the Android experience (you're going to be responsible for tuning things over time, and figuring out how to integrate 3rd party upgrades, like a Mosaic Palette, building an enclosure, optimal print settings, etc). Now with that said, buying a V400 isn't like buying just any Android device, you're buying a premium one, like a Samsung Note.
      Honestly, I really do love them equally, but I wouldn't choose one over the other because of speed. I wouldn't necessarily choose one over the other because of multi-material, as you could always add a Mosaic Palette to the V400. I think it really boils down to whether you want a more open design you're ultimately responsible for, or a proprietary design developed and maintained by the vendor (in this case a very competent vendor who really cares). Next thing I'd consider is the print dimensions of each printer, do you prefer one over the other? How about the size, will they both fit in your space? Then I'd consider my all in price to get all of the features I want. Like it's cost me $150 in materials just enclose my V400. A mosaic Palette with run you $400 to $800 depending on version (if you want to do multi material). It's also worth noting that the Bambu AMS works differently than the Palette, each has its strengths and weaknesses, so you have to decide if you care about that. Basically I'm saying I'd consider the eco system surrounding the two printers. Lastly, depending on what you want to do with the printer, novelty of the delta's movement may or may not be of value to you.

      @@aerialphotons237 I love the X1C also, as well as their AMS, the two really do work great with each other. Today I ran out of filament, and the AMS told me it was out, and the printer just kept printing. I replaced the spool, WHILE the printer was printing, and it never stopped! Another time I had a spool get tangled up, which stopped the printer. It detected it, told me about, I fixed the issue, and it just continued, no problem AT ALL, not even a gloo blob where it picked up again! The X1C, combined with the AMS, is really on a completely different planet as far as ease of use goes.
      Regarding filament selection, that is one thing that is kind of a bummer with the AMS. Not everything fit in it. However, my favorite filament, Hatchbox, does. And it looks REALLY good too. So if you haven't tried that out yet, you might want to. But then again, Bambu's filament isn't really all that expensive. Quality filament is generally about ~$26 a kilo. Though Voxel looks quite promising. I've ordered some of that, and that's ~$17 a kilo. It's supposed to be really good professional print farm level stuff. ...we shall see.
      But as far as a first printer goes, you're definitely not signing up for the trial by fire that I did when I got started. Bambu has really taken most of the pain out the situation Congrats on your printer, I'm sure as time goes on you'll fine loads of awesome things to do with it.

    • @bujin5455
      @bujin5455 Před rokem +2

      @@aerialphotons237 Settings often depend just as much on the printer itself, and your slicing, as it does the filament. As far as the X1C goes, I've simply ran the hatchbox with Bambu's out of the box settings, and it looks great. I've tried a LOT of filament vendors, and I do like Hatchbox a lot. Their filament is consistent, it prints well, has good layer adhesion, doesn't smell terribly, they provide a good variety of materials and colors.
      There may be people who have a better this or that over Hatchbox, but overall, I've never had a bad experience with Hatchbox, never had it jam a nozzle on me. Which I bought filament from a new vendor a few months back to try out something I thought I was interested in, and their dimensions weren't consistent, and when the filament got thicker, it jammed itself into the heatbreak, and it was a living hell getting it out, and I broke the thermistor while I was doing it! Beyond jams, consistency is also important, because that will affect your flow rate. Too much, and you can jam, or have plastic "push out" causing bumps in the print, and cause the print head to catch on those bumps, making you lose a step, shifting the entire print over a step from that point forward. Too little, and you can have thin places in the print, which may cause weakness and poor interlayer adhesion, or holes between layers/lines. So it's a pretty big deal.

    7:23. This is a terrible argument. A Delta printer expresses ALL of its travel for the entire XYZ volume, whether X/Y head movement, or layer change, as compound movements of the X, Y, Z towers. A Core XY printer, such as the X1, ONLY uses the Z movement for layer changes, and expresses all of the X/Y head movement through its gantry system. Since 99.9999% of a 3D printer's movement is expressed in the XY plane, with only very rare Z layer changes, almost all of the wear will be expressed in the XY mechanism and NOT in the Z mechanism. So comparing the robustness of a Delta's Z mechanism to that of a Core XY machine's Z mechanism is a complete non sequitur, as the duty cycles are orders of magnitude different.
    A more apples to apples comparison, would be comparing the linear rods of the X1's gantry system to the V400's captured bearing system.

    Your conclusion is flawed. If you are printing pla/petg in open air and don't need quality the v400 is fine. This could be fine for parts that need a lot of post processing or will be painted to cover up flaws and defects.
    If you need/want ABS/PC/CF-Nylon/ or filaments that require an enclosure on top if printing pla/petg =X1C.
    Or need a larger square build area, camera, AMS, auto bed level, first layer scan, spaghetti detection remote monitoring, better slicer = X1C
    If you are printing for accuracy and quality the X1C wins out.
    Perhaps you should do a video showing how to tune the V400 for better results. Even if you need to slow things down.

    I have both and V400 is a shit quality printer. Trying to get rid of it and its already got such a bad reputation that i'm unable to sell it in used market. Potential buyers should join their facebook group and see how poor the klipper implementation is from Flsun.
