    Welcome back to Aurora Tech Channel. Today, I will review the FLSUN V400, a delta printer that comes with Klipper firmware. Most 3D printers you see on the market are running Marlin firmware, which can even run on an 8-bit processor, so it’s super cost-effective. Even a chip that costs a few dollars or less can run Marlin, but the trade-off is that your 3D printer would be limited by the speed of the processor, whether it’s an 8-bit processor like the ATMEGA 2560 that runs at 16Mhz on the Prusa MK3S+, or a STM 32-bit processor that you see on many other 3D printers running at 72Mhz to a little over a hundred Mhz. This is still pretty slow; so the speed and performance of the 3D printer would be limited by the processor, meaning it can only print at around 50-60mm/s or up to 120-150mm/s at most.
    To install Klipper on a regular 3D printer, you will need another higher-speed processor like a Raspberry Pi 3B and 4 to run Klipper firmware. Then, use the motherboard with the slow processor as an adapter to control the stepper motors. A faster processor can provide more accurate control, resulting in higher print quality and faster print speed. However, as no one can get a Raspberry Pi at a reasonable price due to chip shortage, this discourages many users from adding Klipper to their 3D printers.
    This FLSUN V400 is one of the few 3D printers in the market that come with Klipper firmware. It claims to be able to print at 400mm/s, which is really fast. I reviewed the FLSUN SuperRacer earlier this year, and it was one of the fastest printers that run Marlin firmware; it was still able to print at 150mm/s.
    It looks like this V400 is a larger version of Super Racer with a few upgrades. They share some common features like the delta kinematics, a detachable auto bed leveling sensor, a 32-bit motherboard, and silent stepper drivers. There are also some upgrades. The hardware looks pretty good to me. I would like to thank FLSUN for sending me this machine to review, and with that, let’s get started.

    The fact that you have been using open printers for printing filaments that for years we were told needed an enclosure is fantastic. Most of these printers you have reviewed recently seem to be able to print just fine.
    Another vote for a filament review. So many choices.

    Hey, you nailed mm/s! 👏😂
    This is the most thorough 3d printer reviews channel I've found, and I'm using your reviews to decide which printer to get. So thank you so much for sharing your expertise.🙏 I've watched multiple CZcams reviews on 50+ different printers, over a month-long period, and I still don't know what to get. But you guys are getting me closer than anybody else has, so I really appreciate that!🙏 Plus, unlike a lot of other channels, you're teaching which upgrades can potentially turn a printer that I checked off of my list into the printer I end up buying.
    Also, the bloopers are great! You are so professional and articulate that it instantly makes you seem like a reliable authority. And then the reviews themselves validate that. But the bloopers at the end add a great balance! You two are doing such an amazing job that I would be shocked if you didn't have one of the biggest 3d printing channels on CZcams within just a couple years time. Thanks again.👋🙂

I knew it had speed and accuracy but the price and print volume was limited. Now we see the 410 mm height but my God the 4 foot printer height would scare me. One thing I did not hear was price. The speed and quality is great and the parts used seem quite High Quality. You did a find review accurate, informative and you are treat to listen to. Thank You and take care, D

    Hey Aurora! I found your channel recently and I like it very much.
    If you don't mind a few suggestions from an engineer, though:
    - absolutely do not prioritize infill density when evaluating the strength and/or the weight of your print, like in the case of your laptop holder. Increasing wall thickness (wall line count and/or wall line width) is way more efficient - in the sense that you can increase your part's strength by increasing the wall thickness with less material than with infill increased.
    - a consequence of this is that in many cases the infill used is an overshoot. Like in the case of your Deadpool: you could've achieved the same part strength with 1 or 2 more walls, but half the infill density, and less overall material used. Furthermore, if you're only after visual quality for aesthetic (not functional) prints, you should definitely give a try to Cura's infill pattern "Lightning". It uses SO much less material, yet maximizing skin support. This of course also leads to huge time savings, besides raw material.
    - why don't you try some more premium filaments instead of the $13-$17 PLA's you usually use? I understand that the costs add up for you and your brother but you could try and arrange some partnership with some higher quality brands. This could also shed more light on your stringing issues - sometimes it's not even the printer's fault, but the material that isn't of great quality.
    Hope you can read my comment and tell me what you think! Happy printing!

    I bet the stringing was due to a default Z hop on retraction. I always check that setting on new profiles. Very nice printer and top notch review as always! I had the same idea for spring compressed delta ball-joints many years ago but I stalled on the project. Mine is a bit better due to ultra light components resulting in less inertial mass. I have to get back at it! I just need to find those horizontal cupped ends they use for the joints or find a way to easily fabricate some from existing components. That was what stalled the project in the first place, 3d printed components just wouldn't hold up for long. If this is something you want to pick up let me know and I'll share the details.

    I love the Delta type robots. I thought about building one out of Lego. The hard part would be figuring out the algorithm for programming it. I could build it and control it manually to start off with.
    I'm surprised they can be so precise. There must be zero play at the ends of the 3 arms that connect the slides on the screws and the end effector. Just a small move of the screw can move the head quickly. I just bought the Ender-3 S1 Plus and an Elegoo Saturn 2. I haven't printed anything on it yet because I am waiting to get the resin tomorrow. Now I want a Delta printer. LOL.

  • @MisterkeTube

    I just noticed in the video that the v400 doesn't seem to use a reverse bowden. I get that this avoids having that tube getting in the way as the print-head moves up, but it also means that the force of the extruder pulling on the filament has to be countered by the print-head. As the head anyway cannot get all the way to the top (because of the arms of the delta), my gut feeling would be that adding a reverse bowden would be beneficial both for the force it transfers to the fixed top, but also to keep hygroscopic filament away from the air ...

    Trying to decide between the CR-10 Smart Pro and the V400 for a printer (yes, my first. Go big or go home, as they say). Which would you suggest?
    Update: Ended up getting an Ender-3 S1 Pro. So far it's going well.

      If you want to print something taller, you need this FLSUN V400, the print volume 300(diameter)x410mm, while the X1 Carbon is a 256x256x256mm. But if you need multiple colors or want to use breakaway support filament, you need the BambuLab AMS. For printing single color regular sized model, I think the X1 still prints a little bit faster, with the Bambu Slicer, it also prints better.

    Yeah the time zone thing baffled me today!
    I looked through the settings ten times thinking I missed it but no.
    The stringiness is too much, this is my first 3d printer so idk about the other.
    But God damn the speed is addictive, it was so fast I was worried it's too fast!

  • @davidvaleriehawkins5536
    @davidvaleriehawkins5536 Před rokem +1

    It is a wonderful printer, but it is not quiet. The faster the arms move, the louder it gets. I can easily hear it in the room down the hall. I've also had a few major failures. After slowing the print speed down into the 250mm/s range, the print worked fine. My printer is larger so it has time and space to really speed up. Don't get me wrong, it is still a great printer, but like any 3d printer, there is lots to learn about temp, flow rates, filaments, speeds, and various other adjustments. After two weeks with the printer, I'm having a great time.

  • @bluesteel8473
    @bluesteel8473 Před rokem +2

    I assume this is all with a .4 nozzle. I can’t only imagine what it’ll do on a .6 or larger. Also, have you tried lowering temps to help with stringing? I also use the slicer setting that makes the head not cross perimeters.

    Have you tried connecting an accelerometer for klipper their input shaping? FLSun seems to have shipped these with a pretty good setting, but each printer likely has some variation after assembly. Maybe the quality will be higher.

  • @JoeWayne84
    @JoeWayne84 Před rokem +1

    These machines are very impressive… if it was just a lil bigger build plate like a 12” circle isn’t bad at all but when you are taking up so much room already vertically you might as well make it a little larger in diameter where you could at least fit a 300mm /12” square on the build plate … it’s tuff to have such a large printer and have a small bed slinger or box printer have a way larger build volume. And take up way less space …
    But I would like to have a delta printer just to watch it print nothing much more satisfying than watching a delta

    Klipper runs firmware retraction rather than gcode retraction. Does cura have the "use firmware retractions" check box? (I use superslicer so I'm not familiar with cura) Maybe that will help the stringing, I know with my ender 6 I chased stringing for days until I realised I hadn't enabled firmware retraction in the slicer.
    Also, can you still use mainsail to control klipper? Or is it all done on the touchscreen?
