I understand that most reviewers are trying to keep a positive attitude when reviewing GPU’s nowadays but looking at a $600 card and saying “It’s got a backplate even though it’s a budget card, glad to see it.” I’d hope it has a backplate at bare minimum for the price
Some Gtx 750 had that. Excited, wow, such big achievement
My $329 Acer Predator Bifrost (an overclocked Intel A770) has a backplate. So....
Except that it has to do with the fact that it is MSRP, which makes it the budget version. It's worse now that they are competing against Nvidia, but before, you would never get a backplate on the MSRP or below MSRP cards like the Turbo, or Evga XC.
my msi gtx1060 6g has a backplate
pretty sure he meant "budget" within Asus's 4070 lineup specifically, they have several 4070 models and they gotta differentiate them somehow, and this is the cheapest one, hence "the budget card". You are taking his statement out of context

If you want value for money, the 6700 XT is king right now. I'm very sick of these prices, man.
@@elastichedgehog6339 I would actually argue that it's the 6750 XT, as you've been able to find it within a few dollars of the 6700 XT. That being said, the 6750 XT, the 6800, and the 6800 XT are all amazing cards for the money, and you can just buy whichever one fits your budget. Hell, even the A770 is better than any of the equally-priced NVIDIA cards which have pathetic levels of VRAM
@@Elatenl I LITERALLY said after that, "But… it’s going to be time soon."
This is somewhat unusual. Guess the AIBs are crazy desperate to move these things. I'd consider it at 500 bucks.
Internally hoping there will be huge sales since they have so much stock
The rumor is Nvidia is crediting the AIBs money on the backend to price more of their 4070 lineups at MSRP temporarily. Hopefully they sit on shelves collecting dust long enough to make the discounts permanent.
The Asus Dual model is always sold at Nvidia MSRP iirc. It's their cheapest model
Nvidia is forcing AIBs to sell half of all stock at MSRP
@@rhekman They are, apparently, since they dropped the MSRP in a last minute decision to an unsustainable level for AIB MSRP cards - after mandating that half of the initial shipments be these MSRP models. So AIBs are hoping that they can sell through most of their initial stock as fast as possible.
Shitty move, all things considered, but that's Nvidia doing Nvidia things. Looks like EVGA made the right choice, after all.
It’s amazing that companies raised prices, are seeing slower sales and still can’t see a correlation
Well they do, but nvidia sets the price, and they still need to sell 30 series cards. Plus nvidia seems to be doing this every other generation now. Don't be surprised when the 30 series sells out and there is competition from amd and intel. You will see super cards again

@@fynkozari9271 a card performing at 3080 level for $100 less and 150w less is far from gimped.
@@Kussmain1 then why is nobody buying it? Is everyone stupid? 3080 is an old gpu released in 2020. Why is there a 25% performance gap to 4070ti?
@@fynkozari9271 supply and demand. Not everyone wants to fork over $600 for a single component in a PC. There was a price increase from the prior 70 class gpu from $500 to $600. And it’s not like anyone actually bought those because they were all scalped for crypto mining which is why the 30 series sold incredibly well. And yes the 3080 high tier GPU now getting outclassed by a mid tier. That’s typically how things go, the difference is that people bought the 3080 for $100 more with less Vram. And the 4070Ti is actually just a 4080 with less Vram which is why the gap is so high, a scummy move by nvdia I’m not defending them for that. But the 4070Ti still competes with last generations flagship 3090 which was like a $1000 gpu. So what part of getting a better frame per dollar gpu at original MSRP across an entire lineup is gimped?
The TUF is 1030€ here in Germany right now.
I bought my 3070 Ti at the height of the GPU shortage for 850€.
We should hang on to our stuff while it works.
But there's new stuff and I want new stuff. If I don't have new stuff I feel sad. I need new stuff to feel better about myself and my small penis.

Meanwhile the DUAL is < 700 €.
I don't think the value proposition for the TUF is any good in comparison.

@@rileymannion5301 Do you have a 4090
Nvidia's anticompetitive practices have killed any reason to watch partner card gpu reviews. You can sum up every review as 0-3% faster regardless of partner "OC" model, possibly running a little colder if it's a 3 fan model, and costing $0-100 more than the founders model of that tier.

4k is a waste, 1440p is just as crisp and you get double the fps and responsiveness.
But you are correct that for $600 it should be able to do 4k...
This should have been a 4060 at best, the die is so tiny. We all know they bumped up the numbers by one tier and the price by two.
from all the reviews I've seen the 3080 out-performs the 4070 in 4k by quite a bit.
@Namika Lol, you're going blind. There's a big difference between 4k and 1440p, especially on 32+ inch displays. Dlss at 4k looks just as good and sometimes even better than native while getting the same amount of frames as 1440p. Fsr also exists. Frames at 4k have been a non-issue for years now.

That founders edition version reminds me of the days when reasonably powerful graphics cards were just two slot units, maaaaaybe 2.5 slots from time to time.
Then you got the 4090 which could be used as a house foundation... Can't say it doesn't perform well, though. I'm certain these aftermarket coolers will certainly suffice in the cooling department :b
I'm fondly reminded of the Galax GTX 1070 Katana. That was a 16mm thick single slot card. Had a copper heatsink and the fan wasn't very loud.
I got a Zotac 4080 that uses the same cooler as the 4090. It's fucking obnoxiously massive. It absolutely dwarfs the 2080 Super it replaced and even makes my 27" monitors look smaller than they actually are when next to them lol. I half expected it to not fit my 5000D case but thankfully it does, with plenty of room. The 12pin connector is a liiiitle close to the side panel than I'd really like it to be though haha. I may get one of those 90 degree adapters Jay was showing off a few weeks back.
I'll take a giant cooler any day if it means we get quiet cards. I don't like using headphones very much, so if I can have a gaming rig that makes minimal noise then that's the dream
With that size they could just add a CPU, Storage, and USB ports, and run it as a PC!!

These graphics cards never come close to overheating. It really is weird to see that single 8pin pcie cable on a "mid range" $600 40 series card. The Radeon RX 6600xt had two 8pin pcie cables. I wanna try a shunt mod on one of these sooo bad! Hope buildzoid gets one
Yeah it does seem odd to me. Isn't the limit on one 8 pin connector 150 watts? There is some more power that can be drawn through the slot itself (which they mention), but the 4070 seems to have so much headroom that it should be able to be oc'd quite a bit.
@@fffrrraannkk pcie should be 75w here. So that's 225 watt in total.

I don't even know of a single 6600xt with dual 8 pins. Its a 160W that comes with a single 8 pin standard.
That "Wonderful $500 Price Point." I remember buying my GTX970 for $300 new and it was the second most powerful GPU Nvidia made at the time!
To be honest I've been selling my customers RTX3060 12GB cards if they need a new Nvidia GPU because at $375ish new they are more than enough. If they don't need Nvidia and want more or less performance I recommend the 6500XT and 6900XT respectively.
Same here! I remember buying the 970 new for under 3000 SEK (~300usd) in Sweden, taxes included. The performance improvements over the 700-series were great.
Thinking that a x70 class card now is three times the price when including tax is just nuts.
The fact that ltt says in this video "if you don't want to spend 1500$ on the best one, this one is way cheaper!" Just shows how Nvidia is trying to use those hugely inflated cards to sell these other hugely inflated cards.
If your going to charge $650+ (Most AIB models are not MSRP) you need to give 16GB VRAM
This. Especially when some new AAA games are using 7 GB of VRAM at low settings and up to 14 GB at ultra (like The Last of Us Part 1). It's not like it would cost them a whole lot more to add an extra 4GB. A GDDR6X 2GB module runs for around $20 retail, so I'm sure a company that's buying them in bulk is getting them for substantially less than that. It's planned obsolescence at work
they can only do 12 or 24gb with the bus width it has.
@WayStedYou That's not an issue we should have to worry about. If the product itself was designed with planned obsolescence then they better charge cheap prices for said product
My problem with this review, they are flaunting the two slot gpu and everything but don't even plug it into the bench. My guess was ASUS wanted people to go for the more expensive 3 slot which is probably useless, the dual fan design would likely be enough for the 200W card and would run close to the same and not hit any thermal limits as the OC.

There were little chunks of solder in weird places, almost like molten solder had been spattered around. Oddly enough, the card worked perfectly fine and I ran that sucker OC'd at full tilt 24/7. Had terrible coil whine though. I wonder if the soldering on the PCB looks any better on the 40 series generation

It's like they directed that right at me since I have a black and white build and have always wanted a white GPU. The 4 added gigs of VRAM and the lower power draw than the 3070 are nice too. Fortunately I'd need a CPU upgrade as well to take advantage of the card so that should keep me from upgrading. They almost got me.
Just do it next gen... or the one thereafter. Not worth the price if you got a 3070 already. The gain ist just too little.
there is literally zewro point going from a 3070 to a 4070 apart from buying Jensen another jacket.
What board might be in this test bench making the coilwhine? Didn't find the info from anywhere
What’s up with GPUs being a bit over a whole slot number like in this case 3.15?
The efficiency of these cards is so good are these coolers necessary ?
To keep it cool
The big one? Probably not. Seems like bad value compared to the small one.
You can find 4070s, that have two slots, with one fan. I probably wouldn't go lower than that. The 4070 seems perfect for that Dual version, even for overclocking. That 3 fan variant just seems stupid, though.
Runs quieter and would last longer, if it wasn't for the tiny vram
One thing I'm excited about in regards to 4070 is the return to smaller cards that can fit SFF cases.
And ppl will sht on it bc "they could've used more size for VRAM and performance" when that would literally make it more expensive..
I use a Lian Li TU150 case with a 600W power supply. This card is basically what I have been asking for to upgrade my 5700 XT. Not the Asus card in particular, but a 2 slot 4070 card.
Whats the point of building a set and lighting it in a way that makes it look like a composite anyway?
Just like how the TUF OC has an overkill cooler, the Noctua x ASUS 4080 is just about as overkill, hitting 56C at 23dB(A). Except that it is 4.3 slots lol. But it does include the screwdriver+support bracket and it's even branded ASUS X noctua haha.
I'm gona hold on to my "temporary" 2060 I got cheap on Amazon's EVGA clearance to replaced my dying 1080 I initially wanted to replace with a 3080 before the scalping started
maybe... just maybe we'll get better pricing with the 50 Series (who am I kidding....)
Lmao, are you me? The 12gb 2060 right? I also "upgraded" from a 1080. I still have that build and like it a lot. If you're looking for 3080 performance, or maybe a bit more, I did a new build with the 6950xt I got for $700, and they're still getting cheaper too.
dude, don't worry about comments stating they can't afford things. I'm watching people 'enjoy' things that I don't bother looking into whatsoever, kinda like all those car channels! I mean, unless you go out of your way to buy every car.
I just ordered the dual 4070 mainly for size
I know it killed jake to not absolutely slander this card at it's price.
Please review the gigabyte 4070 lineup next.
what is the difference between the asus ones and the nvidia ones? are they the same?
I recently bought an MSI 4070, what is the required wattage for the 4070? I currently have a 650 watt
The Asus dual 3070 use to come with 2 HDMI & 3 displayports they removed an HDMI. They removed an HDMI on these
Ppl are mad at Nvidia for raising prices.. The prices are the same, but Biden caused inflation to go up this much
Got a Dual 4070, has audible coil whine in the P300A case. It's fine for me and your mileage may vary but just keep in mind.
Thank you, I've been looking people's personal experience with specific AIB cards
coil whine at this price point? man unless you have closed backs headphones is very noticeable and annoying
i love the shortcircuit light
On that same level with my Rx 6800xt for $465.
AMD is love, AMD is life.
Until intel threatens to dip the AMD marketshare even more. No kidding.
The 6800 xt also consumes more power at 300w so a third more than the 4070 and will ultimately cost you more in the long run.
Living poor all my life I understand the concept of the poor tax which is where you can buy items cheap upfront but will often break sooner and require you to buy again than if you buy more expensive items that last much longer and so in the long run you save more money and AMD's cards, compared to the 4000 series, have the same issue.
@@crackajacka87 100w more means £0.40 more per 10h full load gaming at current UK energy prices. Suppose you game for 2h a day, times 7 days a week, 365 days a year... And that's only an extra £30 per year. You'd have to hold onto the card for five years to match the price difference using those figures.
@@lilithstenhouse267 Im currently unemployed and even when I was employed, I play games a LOT so it does make a hell of a difference for me. Currently my electricity costs me 0.43p per KW and the average power consumption of the 4070 is 186w so if I play 8 hours a day minimum, that's about 65p a day, a 6950 xt is probably around 320w average (it tops out at 335w and usually averages are 10-15w lower) so times that by 8 and that will cost me over £1 per day... It's essentially double. My current electricity bill per day, if not accounting for heating water, is just over £2 with my PC making most of that bill. I'm currently on a 1060 6GB card that runs on average 116w so it costs me like 40p per 8 hours of gaming so the 6950 xt costs me 250% more than my current card while the 4070 costs me just about 55% more and it all adds up. In my current state, the 6950 xt will cost me like £30 a month to run (if I play everyday 8 hours per day) while the 4070 will cost me about £20. That's a £10 difference so that's £120 extra costs per year just to run it.
But lets say I get a job (in this current market its hard but we can dream) and I play at most, 4/5 hours on my work nights, 5 nights a week and 10 hours on my days off and calculate the hours altogether, thats 160 hours over a 4 week period and it would cost me £22 per 4 weeks with the 6950 xt while the 4070 clocks in at £12.77 per 4 weeks so that comes up as £264 per year (give or take as I'm calculating a month as 4 weeks which is 28 days) for the 6950 xt while the 4070 costs £153.24 so that puts me about £110 cheaper a year to run. Granted, I might not be playing games every single day for such periods but no matter how you slice it, the 6950 xt will cost me almost double in energy costs than the 4070. I've done this math multiple times and the results are all the same... The only time it doesn't show much difference is if energy costs half what it does today but I doubt we'll ever see the prices we had in 2021 when it was about 20p/KW and I doubt we'll see any meaningful change to be cheaper this year so I'm not going to factor it in as I'm looking to buy next month and I will use what I currently know and currently expect in this market.
Literally can't find one brand new anymore.
I got an epic price suggestion for the 4070. Put a dot between the 7 and 0. Boom 407.0 USD. How about that, NVidia?
Do you know when the white dual is coming out ?? Thank you
I have a question about the Case T-Shirt: Don't U get in trouble with Renault, due to copyright stuff?
I can see the predicament NVIDIA are in. They want lots and lots of money, and no one told them about the ETH merge.
Now they have all this mining hardware which can also be used for gaming.
ChatGPT entered the chat.
@Rainbow Dash Which uses their datacenter offerings though, which is a different architecture.
I do believe Nvidia overbooked fab capacity at TSMC, from memory.
nah they know all about the eth merge, thats why they are pricing the 4000 so high because of the insane amount of 3000 series they still need to sell off tha they overmade.
Still rocking 1070 and probably gonna change to team Red soon. Nvidia pricing is crazy. Hope for more competition and better prices for the customers...
Look at the used market. Great deals from both teams there.
Y'all put AMD on a pedestal but you won't buy from them. Their GPU market share is like an embarrasing 15%. Money talks.
@@nyregrus What pedestal? Who do you mean with "Y'all". I mention both brands on the used market and truth be told: if not for Ray Tracing, nVidia would lose a lot of its current edge.
@@Teh-Penguin Everyone on the internet talking about how they're gonna buy AMD over Nvidia, yet it provably is untrue. Just talk.
@@nyregrus I mean, I the 15-20% market share does not come from nothing.
Does the power plug have an LED indicator on the larger Tuff 4070?? If so, mine isnt working....
Worth getting this from a 3060? I would like to run 3 27" 1440p monitors better than I am now
Hoping my 2070 super lasts many more years at these prices.
It ain't gonna get better tbh. I'm going back to console soon probably.
That screwdriver might've sold me on the card.
Can't wait for the Noctua edition... because they'll keep making Noctua editions right? Right?
I have the 3060 tuf oc and its definitely a noisy card. I put it on silent mode but still it is, i tried fiddling with the fan curve but results were bad, just a little reduction in noise while gaining 10 degrees in full load reaching 73 instead of 63. The problem is that the fans themselves are noisy. I just ordered the 4070 dual from asus, i hope things will be different.
Might get a 40 series when the 60 series come out 😂 lol
4070 budget card, hah good one! Even if that was just slip up because it was mentioned just once, I felt really bitter.
70 series was never budget .. Why do people all of the sudden want to label a premium product as "budget class" just look at the numbers .. 70 is highend, 60 is midrange, 50 is budget
@@Gay-is-_-trash because going from 350-400 to 600 dollars (50% price increase) in a single generation is noteworthy?
Haven't people been finding AIB cards of these cheaper than founders editions, despite availability?
No cooling or noise consideration on the dual card?
LOL he called the 4070 a BUDGET card. I guess it is "Budget" if your budget is the price of the average steam users whole PC.
Asus let me down with GTX 970 and RTX 3060ti both having fan bearings die within like 2 years (obviously less than that with the 3060ti) and I changed to MSI for my current card. They used to be nice but I don't know what happened.
@@rige1646 I thought asus should be fine.. What will be the best 4070, any ideas?
why is there so much empty space in the TUF? having 3 fans it great an all but when the card doesn't need it at all, why make it bigger than it has to be?
Does that 4070 Dual fit in the Ghost Canyon NUC? Looks bigger than the 2070 Dual.
My dude seriously called a $600 card a "budget card".
Sadly it is, in the current climate.
And he is right. Unfortunately.
not selling are they
If the 4070 was promoted as the 4080 12 GB initially, what would the real 4070 have been?
4070ti*
Given the specs compared to previous generations, this should really be a 4060. They just jumped everything one performance level up along with the price.
@@TalesOfWar "...this should really be a 4060."
Bingo. No one seems to see this. Have they seen the PCB on that puny thing? It's pathetic, lol
$600 for a 60-series card. Let that sink in for a second. 😬
@@rangerkayla8824 Yes, and you can add the morons, that are upgrading their 3000 gen cards. The same people will buy the new 5000 series, to upgrade their 4000 series.
the current 4070ti should be where the 4070 is and this 4070 should be the 4060ti
convenient actually to have picked one of these by total accident and find this afterwards, thanks
okay so when are y'all gonna make the ltt screwdriver double as a sag bracket?
That power efficiency is just insane, gonna wait for the 16gb version/refresh tho

Seriously contemplating buying this for an upgrade to my 2070 super, as this is the only latest GPU series to fit on my current ITX case..
Same boat here. I was planning on getting the 6950xt speedster, the only "high end" one to fit my case, but then found out I would need to buy a higher wattage sfx psu and with that comes buying new custom cables for that psu. So I think I'll just save the $250 and get a 4070. I'm still a little worried about the 16gb vs the 12gb.
@@Loves2spooch123 Yes! Same problem for me aside from the size of the other cards itself, I would also need to upgrade also my PSU. With the current trend of the sizes being bigger, I dunno what to expect from the next gen either..
@@Loves2spooch123 The memory problem really depends also on what you're planning to do with the GPU I think. For me, 1440p gaming is just the main reason so I think that's enough mostly..
I just got the 4070 Tuf. My GTX 1080 was finally starting to show its age. I put in in my mini ITX build with the Cooler Master NR200. It’s snug but it fits
@@Loves2spooch123 it's at least a lot more efficient than the 6950XT is but this is a XX60 card rebadged as an XX70 so for that reason I don't want to even consider buying it lol
