- This 10 part series was originally posted on the @lucastrexarms Instagram account, but we thought it would be a good idea to make a compilation to put up on here. In each of these segments, Lucas goes over various rip-off gear from China. Spoiler: None of this gear is "JuSt aS gud".

The unusual smell is recycled packaging, commonly called "Chinesium stank" .
It's a very common thing to smell in packaging, as well as buckles and zips.

A lot of the stuff is copied, usually mostly for Airsoft use. Aliexpress is a haven for Airsofters. As u can tell, this shit isn’t for real firearms….
I would like to see more Chinese made optic/lights/lasers knock offs and have them actually tested just to see how bad or good they can be
Lasers seem to put out more power than advertised. Tested out a few pointers one time… all of them should’ve been classified as 3b

The Chinese Perst-4's are solid. Output is almost that of a real one and they hold up to abuse. The excess bloom can be fixed with a diffuser like the real ones. They have been used in Ukraine on account of Zenitco goods being hard to obtain.
Just buy tge real thing and quit being poor supporting the communist enemy.

Lucas, I hope you make a series of “Treasures From The Orient - Real World Testing” video compilation. We need to see bloopers and failures from these products and if there are any products you’d say can pass because some people have to buy budget options due to some of the real versions are ridiculously overpriced for what they are. Thats my channel goal. I still recommend name brand stuff for serious use, but most of the Chinese stuff Ive tested (thats over $100) has performed well, assuming the QC was good on that item. I plan on doing a budget brand nylon gear, under night vision, video soon.

I appreciate the objectivity in reviewing knock offs of your own product. Pointed out the flaws, gave credit in the few instances it was earned… Even if their quality was better than it is, content like this will make folks keep buying from you, me included.
On one end, it sucks that China is knocking off your products. But I'd think it'd also feel kinda cool. Like, an almost "I've made it" type feeling. Or some sense of pride, that they are attempting to recreate your company's products because of how successful you've become. Pretty cool man. 🤙🏼🤙🏼

Some of the chinese stuff is perfectly acceptable. But remember, if you are on a budget there is always used milsurp gear available, which is actually battle tested and made for hard use. Maybe it is not as high speed as all these fancy brands but it works. Stuff like TAPS is really underrated.

Was talking to an acquaintance one day. It's more funny that a lot of the larper communities in China buy more authentic gear from here and have it shipped over there. Turns out it's legal to own body armor, plate carriers, and own night vision. Just nothing that goes bang.

Tacticon made a good video in rebuttal. I like both companies. I’m sure there’s not a company under the sun that doesn’t outsource something from china.
They made a way better video than he did. They full on tested everything he had a problem with. Nothing failed, it all performed perfectly. He made petty, off hand comments, they proved everyone he said was incorrect. Lmao.

To be honest, it’s understandable that fake ones are not capable to outplay the real ones. But I’m more curious whether they will improve their manufacturing after watching these reviews.
They almost always do. It's one of the reasons why those "fake vs real" videos back in the day of things like Beats by Dre headphones or NGK sparkplugs were a double edged sword. It points out everything that the fakers need to address so they can pass off better fakes.

Its hard to improve the quality of a product if you will always use the lowest quality materials to achieve the lowest price. That's chinese manufacturing in a nutshell. It is what it is. They improve a design but never the quality lol.
If that holster was $40 then it is way cheaper than yours. With a heat gun and some foam pieces you could improve the fit. If memory serves me correctly yours with the mag side car was $150 JS

That's actually a pretty cool plate carrier at the begining. Definitely something that could be used for real and not just larping.

The first carrier looks almost like a carbon copy of the ratnik carrier. Which means its the soft armour pocket on the inside and plate pocket not hydration carrier on the outside

You don't have to look hard if you care about the materials used. It's all the cheapest feeling crap you can find. I've ordered a dozen or so products and they're all garbage that goes to my kid
I mean it’ll work for a while, I’ve got some pouches and basic chest rigs that I’ve used in courses that are still holding up and some that the stitching starts ripping after a few weeks. If you take the cheap stuff to a tailor and ask them to double stitch all the stitching it’ll hold up forever

@@danp6504 no, some of us actually do use our equipment. I shoot every weekend and take long hikes and camping trips with my gear frequently. If you like cheap Chinese gear, that's fine. It's no different than some dude wearing the cheap, walmart, And One brand shoes. It's fine but it's not even debatable that they pale in comparison to pair of Metcons or similar. Claiming anything else is just bullshit.

Was funny when you smelled the package and had a negative reaction. Momonts ago I just finished a Change Agents Podcast that talked about clothing and fabrics that are made with a multitude of harmful chemicals and carcinogens. I can only imagine the types of chinese chemistry that was involved in creating the contents of those boxes, and probably the boxes themselves.

I ordered that Chinese 6354do for fun to see if I wanted to order the real safariland one. At first the gun got stuck just like in the video, but after an extensive amount of filing on the ALS system and taking a heat gun to re-mold the flashlight area, it works great. Although I would never use it on duty now, its still a good training tool since it functions correctly. And it did convince me to buy the real thing since I liked it so much. for reference, I'm running a g17 with a trijicon rmr and a modlite.
It seemed the issue was that holster is made for airsoft, and on airsoft glocks the ejection port is much deeper than on a real firearm, thus, the ALS was extended to catch the airsoft depth slide/ejection port.

Well I mean T-Rex Arms stuff is actually very well made with strict tolerances. I have a Sidecar, Ragnarok, AC1, & Quad Flap Chest Rig and each one is very well made and functional. China can copy designs all they want but they can't copy quality

Bolt on the side of the holster is a mag retention system to adjust how tight/loose the mag fits. Tulster has a similar design with their mag clips

6:45 The weird hex bolt on that sidecar mag carrier is for the tensioner. You can tighten or loosen it. I know because i have a mag holder with the same thing, but American made

The big Problem that I see is the availability for the EU, thats why we are kinda limited to repro stuff from China.
T-REX gear is very very limited or really really hard to find, same goes with other american brands (ferro, spiritus... etc.). So if you want to get good gear from america you need to import it and pay custom fees that are almost the same price as the product your buying, so if I want a sidecar your paying ~100$ on top of shipping and the holster itself.

They're perfectly capable of making good gear, is there anyone who doesn't have at least one type 56 kicking around? The type 56 has probably served in damn near every conflict in the past 50+ years and it's reputation is for being good and reliable is entirely deserved.
Thank you for comparing this stuff. I would love to see a video comparing all of the milsurp, name brand, and Chinese nylon equipment under NVGs/IR light. I only have a limited number to test, but I think this would really help push people to buy quality. My LAPG backpack glows like a flashlight under nvgs. That camo webbing that you use to cover stuff with actually does really well hiding IR for some reason.
Funnily enough chicom chest rigs and repro mao era uniform are surprisingly invisible under NVs

For some specific items (dump pouches, etc.), a Chinese knock off might do the job fine, especially if you’re talking about a 3-5X price increase. It’d be interesting to hear your thoughts on that. You should check all this equipment up against American version with thermal optics to see if you blend in better or stand out worse!

The package smell can be best described as like chemicals/diesel. I used to tell my uncle a diesel mechanic had a second shift stuffing packages because packages would seriously stink up our office so bad he told me to start opening stuff up outside and leave it outside over the weekend
All those holsters are definitely sized for airsoft Glocks. I've owned several (TM, KJW/KWA, and Umarex), and they're wider to varying degrees compared to a real Glock. For holsters that allow you to adjust the tension, I noticed I had to loosen the screw quite a bit (TM based Glocks seem to be the widest) to make them fit, if they fit.
If i remember, vfc are the only true to size (because of the official license)
Current gen ones by decent manufacturers have got the sizing spot on now rhankfully as i use an Alien Gear holster for my WE glock 17 and it fits perfect.
afaik airsofts are usually larger in size tho

I reached out to them about a chest rig I bought because I wanted to test it out for 50% off and after letting them know I have a long torso and it didn't fit and was told I was wearing it wrong 🤣 like okay bro sorry forgot you know more about my measurements than I do . I will back there battle belt v2 its pretty functional. most of the other stuff is kinda meh very chinesium.

OK, but for this type of video which is basically a GEAR COMPARISON VIDEO you should have told your audience HOW MUCH EACH ITEM COST and PROVIDED A LINK SO WE COULD FIND THE EXACT SAME ITEM!!!

How much do they glow with IR? Have you looked at NIR vs non NIR items at anything beyond 40m?
@@21kiwi24 some fabrics will reflect extra light when you shine IR at them. I would say they stick out like someone in street clothes vs camo. So very terrain dependant
We've seen plenty of NATO and Eastern Bloc Gear, but China is one country id like to see more of, that starry sky (PLA)te Carrier is definitely a neat item for the collection

I actually enjoy these videos. Most Chinese nylon does suck and especially the holsters. But you should do the surefire x300 lights which are actually pretty decent. With 75% 80% of the lumens and just a tad more floody. Also Ir laser devices which people talk about certain ones being good....and they are full power with aluminum bodies and appartently hold zero...lmao....especially after potting the internal electronics at home to make them hold up better. It's all very interesting indeed.

Temu had $10 carbon copy clones of the MFT minimalist rifle brace and i cant tell the difference side by side with my $50 real deal MFT . They mysteriously disapeared though along with their Strike industries clone braces
They removed solvent traps as well at the same time, Around the time Xi cane to California all of a sudden a bunch of stuff that triggers the atf by its mear existance vanished from all their websites.
I can vouch for the sba3 braces on temu as well as the b5 stock. The B5 stock is exactly like the real one and the brace is actually better than the real one.

There is no private gun ownership in China so the domestic market for this is either actual PLA or it's Cosplay gear. The PLA stuff is prob high quality but nine times out of ten what you get from Alibaba or wish is Cosplay..

You forgot to get the knock off surefire X 300 lights in both styles! I have one and so far it works just fine and works in holsters made for the light!
What brand and where did you get em ? I have an Olight badlr and Streaml8ght TLR9 and my crappy $30 Feyachi light off amazon is brighter than both of them lol
Nothing special about Surefire weapon lights as far as performance, there are a ton of lights that are far brighter, the reason Suerfire charges a premium is because they are battle proven and virtually indestructible.
@@KevinHuff23I’m gonna agree with this. I’m ashamed to say, I bought an olite, a knockoff streamlight, and a knockoff SureFire. The 2 knockoffs couldn’t stay on the gun. The olite internals couldn’t handle the recoil. It just kept flickering. Good customer service though. They just sent me a new one no questions. I might try it on a pistol, rifles are too strong.

We don't have plans for a patch right now. But we did stickers. Which technically can be modified into a patch with adhesive velcro.
