    Great video, however can I also mention to all the doctors or phlebotomists reading this comment that you can't mix the blood between bottles as many of them contain chemicals such as EDTA which interferes with the chemistry tests. Also don't take blood from the arm that has a drip in, it's surprising how many times I see this and it has a huge impact on the results.

      @@geekymedics a question. If a patient is on 2 iv lines in each arm for whatever reason, what does one do for sampling?

    • @xing3010
      @xing3010 Před rokem +7

      @@Missmethinksalot1 For this situation, usually you can try to find potiential openings on the back or dorsal side of the hand, or if your really having a bad day and both IV port is unavoidable or just in a bad position. Then I guess you can ask the MD for permision to draw from feet. I'm a intermediate phelbotomy student as well. Please add or correct me if I had wrote anything wrong or if I had missed anything! Thank you XD........
      Just realized that the comment has been a long time ago, but hopefully we will all do well!

      The same as the yellow. It depends on the protocol of the medical unit. Some use yellow, some use red. Is for bio_chimestry tests.
