I almost hit stop when I thought your video was over and then I saw the real ending lol. Thank you for putting that in there because it makes me feel better about myself.😁
What fun...! Thanks for sharing. It was great watching the out takes as well. Things do not always go as planned. When you started to screw in the hanger I laughed right out loud.... I have been there. GREAT SHOP....!
This is honestly a perfect video for someone wanting to work with a CNC. It shows it's capabilities, it's limitations, things you need to look out for, what can go wrong, and what the end result can end up being. Awesome work man.
Loved your video and your outtakes in the end made me feel so much better about myself. I often feel like I’m the only one who has hiccups with my X-Carve and your honesty in sharing your own is refreshing!
I don't normally watch videos with CNC projects as I know I will never be able to afford one, and I am somewhat envious of those who can. However, since it is your video and the thumbnail looked interesting I decided to watch it and I am glad I did. Great video and great result. I do enjoy your snarky brand of humour and love the out takes where things go wrong. Allows me some relief about my mistakes and pure misfortunes. I do hope you enjoy your CNC and make many great projects with it. Having cut some lettering on a scroll saw, I know I could probably replicate your sign with a scroll saw, but at a huge time overhead.
Hello Drew, Soon as I see a notification from Fishers shop I know the next few minutes are gonna be a joy and never wasted. Thing I like about you Drew is you don't aspire to grandure. You do great content but that content is no more than you wanting to share your experiences, triumphs and hickups with your friends as if we were all there with you in your basement. That's what makes your vidz so special. Ive been following other folk on here from when they first started putting out their content and while they were small I enjoyed everything they put out. Now they are getting huge I still follow them but the magic has gone, that down to earth by the seat of your pants affair has gone. Its now all about getting the top of the range kit and how it works. They are now just sponsored platforms for the big brands to showcase their products. 😖😞 So Drew, if it ain't broke don't fix it, keep doing what you do, how you do it and we'll be there with you as long as you want us there. Thanx for everything you're a star. Your friend in the basement, Alec
Thanks so much for those kind words, Alec! I'm so glad that's the feeling that my videos give because that's exactly what I've been striving for. Thanks again! :)
I watched this when it first came out. Didn't have a CNC machine but like your videos so much I watched it anyway. Fast forward to today. We ordered the new version of the X-Carve 1000. I remembered your video so just watched it again. The pen jig mounted on the side of the spindle is a brilliant idea. The whole project came out beautifully. Your process is very easy - and enjoyable - to follow. The outtakes are great, showing that everyone experiences hiccups in their work. Thanks so much for this great video. And we are very excited to start working with our new X-Carve! (Munches on some pretzel-shaped veggies while writing this comment)
Love the witty commentary, and the skill you use to make your projects. Some folks have the skills but don’t have the ‘voice’ to keep people engaged. You sir, have both in spades..
I want to say thank you for the idea of using graphite to color epoxy. I know this isn't the video, but I cant find it again. I tried it the other day and it worked so good! Thank you for putting out video and I love, love, love the outtakes at the end. One if the best channels on CZcams! Thanks mr drew. You're the best
Love the sign and the process -- a few things I've learned since my 1st few attempts with inlaying - since you are already using Easel - use it's built in "inlay" function and specify the bit size - it will automatically adjust your pieces (positive and negative) to add the required curved corners so you don't have to chisel them away and perfect fit right off the machine. Also - next time leave your inlaid pieces on the thicker materials so you can avoid tabs, then once they are carved and still attached to the board, then send it through the bandsaw to cut them free from the back. you'll never have the pieces jump out like the P in the outtake portion
With the hardwood and Titebond 3 I was anticipating a plot twist where you use it as a cutting board. Then the Danish oil came out and I shed a small tear. Or the tear may have been residual from the P then P joke, that was brilliant. Fantastic demonstration of both skills and humility - that chin stroke at 10:58 is all too familiar ;). Thank you for the 13 minute treat!
Great video! As usual your video was one of the highlights of my day. Love your shirt - makes me want to take a nap! Thanks for the outtakes - my daughter and I enjoyed those and it's good to see the experts have difficulties with projects also!
Wow Drew! Awesome video - such a great integration of a CNC into a woodworking video. It shows how much work still goes into it even if the robot is helping. And your jokes were quite funny - as usual! Well done man.
Thanks so much, Doug! It would have involved less woodworking had I known how to manipulate SVG layering better but it still turned out ok. Haha... thanks again for the amazing logo and the intro! Love'em!
Good to see just how much hand-work is still needed even with the tech. CNC is just a tool and has limitations like any other. I've just subbed after 'borrowing' a Fisher design for a project and watching through the channel the improvement in your film clip quality in just a year is great to see too. Keep it up.
Thanks! Yeah I've really changed in the last couple years. My first videos were actually never even intended for CZcams but once I figured I'd build a collection of videos here I quickly discovered how I needed to adjust things. I think I might have found a format that works for me as well as my viewers. Thanks for watching!
That was absolutely terrific. I will have to admit, I was in shock when you cut off the raised letters - I thought the sign looked so good with those still raised up. Don't get me wrong, your finished sign great too. Wow, you keep up this kind of content and you will break 1,000,000 subscribers in no time. You are producing some of the best content out there. Keep it up! You are one content creator that I will always watch your videos when you release them - partially because of your dry sense of humor.
Learning how to use this hardware now along with the easel software. Very simple to use and above all affordable. Great video hope to see some more project from you. Keep up the vids
Thanks for sharing. My brother is moving and needs a place for his xcarve to stay. Looks like I'll be a foster parent to it. I've been watching a bunch of videos. I especially appreciate the out takes. Oh... And what is it about your voiceover? It's soothing like watching Bob Ross.
Hey Drew. Your vids are so relaxing and humorous that I just watched and liked the whole lot in one go. (Took my mind off the flu...) But I bet they took a lot of work putting together. Keep 'em comin', and thanks for the skills, ideas and outtakes. Very cool. Subscribing to your channel is a no-brainer. Great fun.
Thanks so much, Marcus! I appreciate that! Yes, they're a lot of work but it's encouraging and motivating to hear the kind words from viewers such as yourself. So thanks again and welcome to the channel!
I just watched the outtakes at the end. I like those because they show the real world - you apparently had several do over's and I assume that includes dimensioning and gluing up new panels each time. Without these outtakes, the rest of us might get depressed when things like this go wrong and we feel like idiots because the content creators did not seen to have any problems. Thanks for the honesty.
Another enjoyable video, Drew~! I'm watching all of the CNC projects I can between you and the other makers I follow to decide if I'll take the leap or not. I have plenty of space in the shop for one and could possibly make room in the budget. We'll see, but until then, I'll be looking forward to your next project...CNC-based or otherwise.
That was amazing, my only comment against what you have done is that I personally would have used a rubber mallet to hammer the pieces in so as not to dent any of the cut out wooden letters, but your finished product worked and looked great. I really liked the planer sled to stop the snipe too, I think I will copy that idea as I was really impressed with it. Thanks for sharing the info Glen 😁👍
Sure. I knew I’d be planing off the letters so I wasn’t worried about little dents but if I wasn’t doing that then I would definitely want to be more careful like you said.
I have to say, that one of my favorite parts of your episodes is the bloopers...not for the humor so much as to show that the process often goes less than perfect :)
Your videos are a "perfect" blend of information and humor...I look forward to every video you do. Great job on the sign too Sir!
Thanks so much, Daniel!! Very kind of you to say
ditto!!!!!!
what kind of cnc is that thing /// edited Oh an Xcarve cool
Awesome job. And the outtakes are pure comedy gold.
Thanks!
I almost hit stop when I thought your video was over and then I saw the real ending lol. Thank you for putting that in there because it makes me feel better about myself.😁
Glad you enjoyed it!
6:02 What you needed was a Turbo Encabulator to rectify the unilateral phase detractors. They're right there next to the girdle spring.
Oooooohhh... it's all so clear now!
What fun...! Thanks for sharing. It was great watching the out takes as well. Things do not always go as planned. When you started to screw in the hanger I laughed right out loud.... I have been there. GREAT SHOP....!
Haha, thanks John!
Love my X-Carve. Had mine for almost a year now. Made over 400 projects with it.
I love your videos. More so, I love that I can watch them with my dad and laugh together over your dad jokes.
:) Thanks
This is honestly a perfect video for someone wanting to work with a CNC. It shows it's capabilities, it's limitations, things you need to look out for, what can go wrong, and what the end result can end up being. Awesome work man.
Thanks Garrett!
That marker trip is superb! Cheers. 🍻
Thanks, Chris!
Loved your video and your outtakes in the end made me feel so much better about myself. I often feel like I’m the only one who has hiccups with my X-Carve and your honesty in sharing your own is refreshing!
My husband and I so enjoy your work and narrations!
Really enjoyed this Fish. CNC is a pretty darn compelling machine.
Thanks! Yeah, it's been fun so far
The look of success at 10:09 is well deserved! Another solid project completed. Great work drew and thanks for the laughs along the way
Thanks, Angus. :)

I have a CNC and the learning curve is steep. I have never had a project work the first time. Keep going it gets easier. Cheers Jeff
The sharpie on your spindle carriage is a great idea. Going to copy that one.
WOW! Kudos for sticking with it!
Thanks!

I love your commentary in the videos. My wife doesn’t find them funny, but I certainly enjoy them.
That Sharpie trick is genius!
Love the witty commentary, and the skill you use to make your projects. Some folks have the skills but don’t have the ‘voice’ to keep people engaged. You sir, have both in spades..
With his voice, he could have a moonlighting career narrating children's audio books. Seriously.
I don't know why are these videos so satisfying...
Love the out takes
killer job on organizing the shop
Thanks for including the outtakes! Now I dont feel like the only one. You have a new follower!
Welcome aboard!
Taparoos..... great professional woodworking term. Great video!
Thanks, Ryan!

yet again contents and humour good job

I like your sense of humor.
This was a great freaking video. It was like Mr. Rodgers meets Tim the tool man Taylor!
Thanks! 😀
Awesome! Love it!
Great commentary. The humor was very entertaining.
well done, it looks great... and your Humor is really entertaining
Thx for sharing, especially the outtakes - I love your sense of humor. Have a nice weekend and greetings from Germany.
You're welcome, thanks for watching!

Haha, thanks TJ! Yeah, I won't be eating off this one... unless my vitamin sandwiches need to be cut? Thanks for watching, bud.
Great job Drew I love your videos almost as much as I love your sense of humour. 👌🏻
Haha, thanks Dave!
Those tool holders behind you are so cool.
Great video, as usual, Drew! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Alan!

Beautiful finished product
Thank you!
Great video! As usual your video was one of the highlights of my day. Love your shirt - makes me want to take a nap! Thanks for the outtakes - my daughter and I enjoyed those and it's good to see the experts have difficulties with projects also!
Haha... you imply that I'm an expert? Now that's the best joke of them all. :)
Your entertaining yet informative I enjoy your videos. Especially the out takes
Thanks, Allen
I don’t know why I love the bad jokes so much😂 well done as always.
You're the best, Drew!
No, you are!

Rarely does anything go perfect in my shop. Hah
Fisher's Shop you do great work buddy. Quickly becoming one of my favorite channels. Keep it up!!
Xcarve CNC thats a beauty of a machine Mr. Fisher ! I'm very jealous :)
Thanks, Keith! It's been fun so far
