THE WAITER THEORY (AFTER PERFORMING “TIME MACHINE”). Gabi Pareras

In 2009 during a lecture in Málaga, after performing “the gift” (his approach to “Time machine/Back in time”), Gabi talked briefly about the “lying speech” and explained the “waiter theory” concept. Although this idea is not new and magicians such as Tamariz or Chris Kenner already had talked about it, the way Gabi explains this concept is very graphical and easy for you to understand it and to apply it in your magic. In his work “Through the looking glass” he described it this way:
“THE WAITER THEORY”
“It often happens that when someone asks for the bill on the terrace of a bar, the waiter only has to glance at the contents of the table to see what was consumed. Well, while the spectator is applauding he should have the opportunity to recall what just occurred by glancing at the arrangement of the elements once the routine is over. I think it's a simple but very powerful idea and is fundamental to the memorability of the magic”.

En 2009 durante una conferencia en Málaga, tras realizar “el regalo” (su versión de “La máquina del tiempo / Atrás en el tiempo”), Gabi habló brevemente sobre el “discurso de la mentira” y explicó la “teoría del camarero”. Aunque esta idea no es nueva y magos como Tamariz o Chris Kenner ya habían hablado de ella, la forma en que Gabi explica este concepto es muy gráfica y fácil de entender así como de aplicar a tu magia. En su obra “A través del espejo” la describió de esta manera:
“LA TEORÍA DEL CAMARERO”
“En tiempos, cuando alguien pedía la cuenta en la terraza de un bar, el camarero solo tenía que mirar el contenido de la mesa para saber lo que se había consumido. Pues bien, mientras el espectador aplaude debería tener la opción de rememorar lo ocurrido tan solo con mirar la disposición de los elementos una vez finalizado el juego. Creo que es una idea simple pero muy poderosa y fundamental para la memorabilidad del juego”.
