  • Our Fusion 19 boat, heavy duty trailer and Evinrude G2 are fast approaching their 1 year anniversary.
    So, it is time to give you the honest facts, with no marketing mumbo jumbo, our absolute fair dinkum opinion of how our 175 Evinrude G2 has performed over the last year. With nearly 300 hours on our two stroke Evinrude outboard we detail what it has cost us to maintain the G2, including the cost of XD100 oil and also speak about power and torque. Which we believe are key selling points for these motors. This information should help you cut straight through the marketing material and compare it against other brands, especially four stroke motors in the marine outboard market.

    Great video Luke. Good to hear the facts from someone who uses the gear regularly and has all the data.
    I have a 90hp E-Tec which is amazing. Fuel economy is still better than most 4 strokes and my mates (4 stroke enthusiasts) are jealous.
    I go through minute amounts of oil and although it is around $85 per 5lt bottle, that lasts me over a year.
    Can't wait to see the Video on the boat.

    good day mate I have a 05 rude 175HP if I upgrade to rude 200 g2 do I continue to use my hydrolic steering hoses an just not use the sea star ram cylinder?

    Have a question on your motor, i am purchasing a fusion 19 and getting a 200hp seapro installed, what are your thoughts

      It will be fast, like a rocket. Not sure what else to say. The fusion hulls are fast, even with a 115 on the back they get up and go.

    I like the power, torque and sound of my ETEC too. However, I wish I had the 10 year warranty. Mine is 5 years old and costing me a lot to keep it going.

      Interesting to hear mate, put of warranty issues 🤔🤔

      it is the problem with all "high tech" electronic governed engines, the electronics is much more sensitive than the mechanical counterpart and it costs a leg and an arm to replace because it is all throw away components.

    Sorry about evinrude mate looks like they have wasted all that money developing a great motor to just dump it doesn't make sense

    • @FishingBoatingExploring
      @FishingBoatingExploring  Před 4 lety +1

      Has done my head in a tad..... makes no sense on face value. I suspect there are greater forces at play for a huge business of which Evinrude was only a small percentage of. I just hope the new marine propulsion turns up before I need to repower !! lol

    I am sorry BUT you missed a BIG FACT, which is a big point for most that don't do massive hours on the water, is RESALE value. Etecs command dogshit resale. I am in no way anti-Etec, I admire some things, BUT I would never buy one. I spent over $30k on my yammi F300, I can guarantee I will get a faster sale with higher dollars, worth more than the few measly dollars I save in servicing.

    • @FishingBoatingExploring
      @FishingBoatingExploring  Před 4 lety +3

      I think warranty periods add to resale value, especially most recently with the g2 versus the g1. But hey, everyone has their own opinion and personal experience.

      @@FishingBoatingExploring well I guess with recent events with BRP abandoning outboards due to inability to obtain marketshare, it looks as though my research led to the better purchasing option. Pretty safe to say the value of your motor just halved.

    • @rp3874
      @rp3874 Před 4 lety

      @georgio m a bad yammie model better than a discontinued evinrude...? Right now I bet any etec g2 owner would suck off another bloke to swap for that yam 350

      @johngoodell2775 Před 4 lety +3

      nope this story has not been written yet. My guess is that since ETEC's have the best technology, are cleaner, more efficient, cheaper to maintain, and more powerful than 4 stroke hp counterparts - the cream will rise to the top and eventually their value will begin to rise with perceived scarcity. Evinrude could have done better telling their story and fighting the constant stream of bullshit propaganda but my guess is that there will be an acquisition and the line will start back up again within 2 years. People that actually understand the technology and performance of ETECs know there is no comparison.

    • @rp3874
      @rp3874 Před 4 lety

      @@johngoodell2775 all opinion there buddy. If they were everything you said they were the market would have flocked to them. To suggest their failure was down to negative marketing is laughable, nearly as much as suggesting that they will go up in value. Who in their right mind would by a motor where the manufacturer has pulled out? Crazy stuff bro
