  • We fly to the BVI's and move aboard our sailboat Zephyr.
    www.sailingzephyr.com
We take the leap and buy a boat in the BVI's. We sell everything we own, pack up our lives and fly to the BVI's where we move aboard our sailboat Zephyr!
We begin getting zephyr organized as well as getting stuck into the huge list of boat projects. After a few weeks of living in the boat yard aboard Zephyr, the big day finally arrives...we officially put Zephyr in the water.
    Hope you enjoy the video!

Salt water and electronics rarely mix and the ocean is not friendly with our gear. Things are constantly breaking or rusting apart. These are a few of the things we hope to get to keep bringing Sailing Zephyr to you.

-24 two days ago. -6 now with 35 mph winds. Just found your channel, thanks for taking me away from here if only for a moment. 40 videos... be more than just a moment,,. Is it wrong to hope for a very active hurricain season this year ? Not many boats left from Irma !! 😂
Life is a journey not a destination.. looks like you have it wired... enjoy your journeys !!

Hey you two! Dave Day here. We met up recently in St Martin (about March 15th or so) on the jitney back to Philipsburg, then again, amazingly in Simpson Bay. Natalie was cradling a baguette and spotted me on a jitney and I jumped out and we sat in a patisserie with coffee and croissant. You were waiting for some repairs on your boat. I am following your vids. I hope your repairs in St Martin went smoothly and you are by now on your way somewhere...I can recommend St.Barts: awesome, gorgeous harbor with mega yachts, but great restaurants. Very chic and kinda $$$, but worth an anchorage for awhile and some strolling or scooter rental. I sure hope to keep in touch ! Meantime, Im trying to figure out how to be a Patreon. (any instructions?). P.S. Here in Rochester, NY, its April 1st and we have 2 inches of snow!!! Grrr...

Love your trip and watching regularly. You can actually see your boat on the hard in a video by Sailing Unforgettable as they drive through the marina in BVI.

Found you guys from your video of the grounding of your friend, hope they are doing OK! I'm trying to convince my lady to do the same thing you guys are doing. I'm a long time mechanic and former commercial fisherman on the B.C coast and Alaska and would recommend that you get some silicone grease to use on any electrical connections to help keep the moisture out. I really like the McKanica brand that comes in a pressurized dispenser. Not sure if you can find any in the BVI's but you probalby could get some in Puerto Rico. While you are looking try to get some Aviation Permatex, it is esentially pine tar but it really helps to seal hoses , gaskets and anything that needs sealing!! All the best, looking forward to your adventures!! Cheers

Just found you guys and subscribed. We are curious about your previous experience. How have you prepared yourself if you have no sailing experience? We are contemplating the same thing and just looking for support. Thank you!

Hey James and Nat' Have found you and very happy to subscribe. Impressed by your will power!!! Selling everything, leaving home, buying a sailboat and moving in!!! Just one quesiton, maybe an idea for a video(?) because I'm sure many who wish to go that path you've taken would like to know (as well as I) how and why you choose one type of boat and not another? The big quesiton for me is the following: at equal price (and I'm living in EUrope but searching yachtworld I've found the prices not to be very very different as far as the boats I'm looking at), I really don't know if I should go for one of the super sturdy but very expensive (Hallberg Rassy, Wauquiez/Centurion before 1995) or what some boaties suppose are less sturdy but less expensive (and therefore larger so much more room) more generic brands (Jeanneau, Beneteau, Bavaria, Dufour etc). The base of my question is: older very well reputed strongly built (and designed with skeg held rudder for example) sailboats cost a lot so for the same price I could buy into a younger and larger sailboat. Thanks for any input there. Have a good sail. Oh and thought I might add that having lived 8 years (from age 8 to 16) in Vancouver BC (in the early 1980's), I wish some day to sail my boat under the Lion's gate Bridge and settel for some time somewhere in a mooring near Stanley Park ;)

Best places to find hurricane damaged yacts?

Essentially anywhere a hurricane has hit. Check out online liquidators. Search local yacht brokers in hurricane hit areas.
