In this little series of upcoming Videos I have tried to show what a FULL Download Festival experience is like (in 30°c heat) from Start to finish. I'll be posting 1 video a day at 6PM until we are out of footage & these will be "Premieres" so we'll have a Livechat along the way if thats your thing & yes it's really me typing! ha!😎🤘🏻

A few Ups n Downs
Obviously It was fantastic catching up with all of you! I missed a few (not personal) & we all know how bad the signal is there.
But TBH the social side is probably the best bit about this one for me! & I'm absolutely amazed at the CZcams feedback! I'm literally filming us doing the dumb crap we'd be doing anyways n always have! Only now you don't doubt it 😂
Band wise personally
Good
Metallica ×2 - Same as always!
Slipknot - Clown was there after all? & Some new stuff!
Electric Callboy - Tiny stage though and rammed!
Avatar!!! - Short set
VV - Hearing that takes me back & makes me feel old!
Bad
Asking Alexandria!!! - So many Vocal tracks/effects he didn't know what to sing too, it was poor. - & I'm gutted about that...
Bring me the Horizon ^^^ But they definitely have committed fans that ignore it! & did deserve the headline regardless of my opinion!
Festival itself
7/10
Organisation was utterly Shit!!
Way to Many people!! Oversold & massive queues for not enough facilities.
Not enough Toilets, Bars, Water points, shady areas, polite educated staff & unless you queue up for ages the food you actually want?
But yeah
- I know I'm late to the Party posting these few Pics and will be even longer posting the Vlogs, as:
1. It took us 12 HOURS to drive home on our anniversary yesterday!!! We sat in the car park for 3+ Hours & Had that mad diversion on the M1. UGH!!! But yeah it was exactly the same thing getting into the place 3/5 hours for some people!
2. We are on the biggest comedown of all time struggling to pack for Graspop (Belgium) to which I will be Driving us to tomorrow
3. It is Ruby Miranda Birthday today! 🖤
So yeah onto Belgium!!!
We are absolutely shattered!!!

Took me and a mate 5 hours to cover the 3 miles from the A42 junction to Park Farm,
I heard the horror stories when people started to turn up 😔
Great video mate. It took us 9 Bleedin' hours to get there from Newport, Wales on the Wednesday. 9 Hours!!! Thought we would be there in plenty of time leaving at 12:00. Got there at 9:00 and finding a camping pitch was a nightmare. Better luck next year Hahaha! Cheers! P.s. My first Donington was 38 years ago,so i'm even older as Shit.

I felt awful for the people who turned up with time to spare (in theory) and were just stuck there... So many had "trucker arm" sunburn just because of the entry queue & it started everyone on a bad vibe.
The camping had to be humiliating for some people in this situation as not all will have the confidence to walk up & pitch with a new settled group in the dark ya know? The staff were actually zero help for those and literally said "Just move someone else's tent" When 2 girls asked them - (so we sorted it).
Graspop was the best example of a perfect festival though! None of these problems, Even I couldn't find fault!!! 😂

@@billymayhem I first pitched my tent after asking these two geezers if it was ok.They said "Yeah,no problem". The second i finished a girl came up and said "You cant pitch here mate,you'd be in the way of my friends tent" .The two blokes were nowhere to be seen.I wasnt best pleased as you can imagine.What annoyed me the most was she actually waited until i finished putting the bloody thing up before saying anything.Some people huh?

I'm currently editing the Saturday & yeah it's visible the sheer size of this festival now.
Way Too big & no additional facilities to support the growth/ addition of another 20,000 or whatever it was.
@billymayhem yea last time I went it was maxed out at 80,000.

I reckon as security was shite this year all they had to do was wear a band from last year and nobody would've spotted...
A few years back me and the guys did an entire weekend on 3 wristbands 😂
We were young and skint but it worked a treat! Security is always poor at these things, there's too many people to check & the queues form too quickly...
That said I've seen people get stopped by Dogs at Download & Bloodstock!

it’s either the far side of orange or red. hard to tell without knowing how far they walked after slim jim’s, but SJ was just outside the entrance to camping plus and the back side (relative to the arena) of orange camp.

This popped up on YT's home page. recommendations, however, they label it. I think forget that some people just don't like being filmed. Just be thankful that whoever you do agrees to it? At one point in time, this was never a thing. Strange really :) Inflatable mattresses are good for 1 sleep. For some reason they keep deflating

Luckily most of the people at these things share our humour, but In the real world it's definitely tricky!

I'm seriously undecided on next year now!!! Our location is literally the furthest part away in the country - (actually closer to France) and it would only be out of habit! Not for the lineup...& Thats an expensive habit!!

@billymayhem I did 11 in a row but decided in 2022 that enough is enough. We take our campervan, and for what they now charge for that, plus all of the regular costs, we can go all inclusive in the Canary Islands for less....so we are 🤣
Next time, we may have to consider Grasspop though

😂 Exactly this!!! I'll be looking at easily over £1000 for Download. - pretty much what I make back on the videos, but it's just the stress of it all.
I wish they didn't take the piss out of the campervan crowd so much, it's ridiculous & takes so much of the fun away knowing that it's all avoidable. A choice from management based on greed.
We are thinking of doing so much more in Europe next year, even the smaller gigs as from Folkestone it's actually easier & cheaper to get the ferry than a train to London 🤣

@billymayhem Bloodstock must happen! We've got the campervan pass (1/3 of the price of Downloads) and we'll probably get our tickets via the instalment plan.
The mad thing is, is that because of the cost of Bloodstock & the ease of getting around it's so much easier to book it. So even if you ain't fully on board with the headliners it don't matter. Download NEEDS those headliners to justify the cost & experience...
