    i just realized that I haven't been taking off enough material on the back of the spoon with the axe. I always have too much back where the bowl meets the handle, and have too much knife work. I see how Andrea starts with the axe much higher than I have been doing. (0:20:50). Thank you for that!

    Zed I recognise Debra's house as for spoon it's tudor shaped like what crew on Mary Rose used I made a few bit bigger and same size from hawthorn I love that wood full of knots and challenging to carve has a cream and pink colour to it when seasoned I put vegetable cooking oil in it makes it darker and protects it and I use bit of deer antler to burnish it thanks to Debra's idea baking spoons 👍🇬🇧🦊🐾

    Very nice video. Funny to see such large tools used for such a small spoon. Clearly it works out well, however, I think I would have used a smaller knife for better control ( less risk of cutting myself )

    • @Zedoutdoors
      @Zedoutdoors  Před 8 měsíci

      You can most definitely use a smaller knife, but a slightly larger knife allows you to take longer cuts ~Peace~

    Those who wonder about the axe and did not catch the maker: it is soulwood creations / Peter Kovacs.
    And this is - again - a wonderful video. @ZedOutdoors, Your dedication to documenting the craft is amazing (you know Eugenio Monesma's videos? Yours are more hands on, but nevertheless documentation of craft), and Andreea explains her process very well.
