This song makes me miss my grandfather so much. I would have followed him into fire if he had asked me to. Randy Travis always gets you right in heart. Great reaction!
Digging up Bones is another great one. He has a fantastic voice.
It’s my favorite . And this one !
My grandpa joined the Wyoming National Guard Calvary unit in 1937. Cowboy as well. Then, career military from WW2 until after Vietnam. This always reminds me of him. The kindest person I’ve ever known.
When you're less than a minute into a song and you're hooked. You know it's a good one
How I always felt about my grandfather. A hard working Christian man. He built the house his family lived in, raised us up as a subsistence farmer, and he worked a regular job on top of all that.
I remember hearing Randy Travis the first time when I was a young teenager.. thinking he sounds so old country... but I liked it... I love it now... give me that old country sound that my Pop-Pop raised me on. I'm not a fan of alot of new country because it's POP not country... I truly hope country music doesn't lose it's roots with voices like this. Makes me miss my Pop-Pop even more than I have everyday since he passed.
This is the way I felt about my Dad. I thought the sun rose in the morning cause he was there. He had feet of clay and faults but he was a teacher of many truths. I lost him at age 68, way too soon. I still miss him to this day and it's been 32 years. I am 74 now and he crosses my mind almost daily and I miss his grounding voice that kept me from spiraling off. I know wait for the day when I will meet my parents in heaven.🙏
Oh yeah I knew this would be another one that would hit you hard.
Randy's voice is just pure country.
I too wish my grandpas were still here.
I believe 100% that your grand dad loved you just as much as you loved him.❤
Another great reaction.
This song was written by Allen Shamblin about his great granddad and was the first song of his that made it big when recorded by Randy Travis. There is a tribute coming up soon for Randy.
This one reminds me of my grandmothers older brother. He never had a tooth in his head during my life. He didn't sit in a chair at picnics, he would hunker down near a tree. He always had coins in his pocket for us kids and he loved me. I never doubted that for a minute. And I loved him. Thank you for your reaction.
Randy Travis was one of my favorite country singers in the '90s. Tree Wooden Crosses.
What an amazing song. This one broke me too!! My grandfather walked me down the aisle when I got married. When he died, it broke me!! I thought he walked on the water. He was the best man on this earth!! I love and miss him daily!! Thank you so much for sharing Craig. I am sorry for your loss!!
I'm not sure why I am crying. I have heard this song more times than I can count. Maybe just hit me all that generation is gone, along with their histories. My mom's parents died long before any of kids were born. Maybe it is because, I miss Randy and all the music he could have been putting out, but for the stroke.
That line: "my mommy's daddy was his only son" always made me stop and have to figure out the relation. Great-grandpa. I love that line.
The man was actually great-grandpa. I love this song.
love this song...makes me miss my Grandpa so much
This was my Grandfather for me. He lived to be 98. I was 32 at the time and blessed to have had so many years with him. He passed on 9/10/2001, we all know what happened the very next day. It was a tough week to say the least.
Oh man!!! My heart goes out to you! ❤
I miss my Grandpa Hopkins. He wasn’t my grandpa by blood, but by love. I was his grand baby from the moment I was born until he drew his last breath. I miss you Grandpa ❤
I grew up only knowing my maternal grandfather and he was such a good man. He could tell stories that made me roll with laughter. I miss him so much. My paternal grandfather died the day I was born. My poor dad didn't know which way to go. Stay at the hospital with my mom as I entered the world, or go to his dad's side as he left. Great tribute song ❤
What a lovely song! .Randy has a sincere, heartfelt country voice that tells a true story in ur mind. Thank u for being real and showing ur genuine emotions Craig,I got emotional just thinking of u and ur grandad .take care Craig 🇬🇧
Always love Randy’s voice and his storytelling. This is a classic and forever favorite. Thanks for bringing it back for us.
Randy said that the 1st time he heard this song he knew he felt like it had been written just for him & he had to record it. He grew up extremely close to his maternal great grandfather, just like in the song. His mom’s dad was the oldest of 7 sons & 1 daughter. My cousin’s father-in-law was the youngest son. Her husband is a couple years younger than Randy, so they grew up together. Randy’s mom’s dad passed away from an aneurysm before he was born, so he was very close to his great-grandpa growing up.
My Grandpa has always been the best man in my life. Such a positive influence from just spending time together and listening to his stories. I will never stop loving him nor missing him every day since he passed. Very relatable song for all of us who were privileged to have time with a wonderful Grandpa
In the same vein, I would recommend "Bible and a .44" by Ashley McBride. It won't cut as deeply, as painfully, as this one, but is sweet and warming in the same way.
My two sons tear up every time they hear this because it definitely reminds them of their Grandfather (my Dad). I always get choked up too when I hear it. Thanks for your REAL reaction to this one, Craig!
I've always said no other music can touch you like a really sad traditional country song, or country love song can bring up feelings if sadness and joy all at the same time, it just has a way of going deep in your soul and just ripping at your heart like no other music can, there's no music like country music!!
Love Randy Travis ❤ Reminds me of the man who i saw as my grandfather. He was never out of my sight when i was a little girl..or there would be hell to pay.😊 Grandpa Lowell, man how i cried the day you died cuz i thought you walked on water.😥💗🙏
Amazing song…..amazing reaction
Randy is one of my favorite country voices. ❤ I appreciate this reaction 😍
Just like Alan Jackson and George Strait, Randy is a fantastic storyteller and best of all pure country! ❤
Randy is a very emotional person with his music and probably in his life. He would definitely make you cry. I hope you go down this beautiful rabbit hole of music from him. ❤❤❤❤
Randy Travis is truly a legend in the country scene. Incredible
Great Reaction
✌️❤️ Craig-we all should be so blessed.
I would highly, highly recommend "Forever And Ever, Amen", also by Randy Travis. Arguably the best country love song.
I always liked this song, but I listened to it the day my grandpa died and I don’t think I’ve ever cried as hard.
One of my many favorite Randy Travis songs!!
I miss my grandpaw he's been gone for 34yrs i was 6months pregnant with my first daughter, when he passed. this is what i felt about him,he help raise me,my mom was a single teenage mom,the only father figure i even known. I miss him so much.he was the only grandpaw i had
Thank you for this...Somehow this one got past me over the years. I just love it...Makes me feel good.
One of my favorite songs by Randy!
My paternal grandfather was born in 1880 and passed in 1976. His father was a US Deputy Marshall in East Texas, and what is now Southwest Oklahoma. My grandfather left many stories of his father chasing outlaws and especially one named Red Buck. He also left stories taking my grandfather along with him to the Indian camps in Indian Territory, now Oklahoma, when they still lived in teepees. I was very close with my grandfather, and this song seemed to be about him, although I know that millions of others feel the same way and rightly so. I am a grandfather, and my grandsons are not little anymore. I hope I have a positive effect on them, like my grandfather did me.😮
Makes me think of my late grandfather in the woods of East Texas.
My dad wore the same type of hat. Hes been gone a long time. I cry every time i hear this song
ALWAYS reminds me of my grandpa...who always wore a hat and sat in a rocker in the yard watching us kids play. He'd spit his chewing tobacco towards us as we ran by, LOL! He couldn't hardly get out of the rocker...so, we'd purposely run as close by as we could and laugh when it couldn't get to us!! 😂❤
Love the song, my grandfather was a preacher, and l am now a great grandmother, and l still miss him , so much.
Randy Travis is one man that could make u relate to just about anything....❤❤❤❤
"Angels" would be another one I would recommend. Craig, I was right there with ya. Randy is in my top 10 list of favorites. I've heard this song sooo many times and still (when I'm in a certain mood) it feels like it's the first time. I was tearing up right along with you. Randy sings his songs with so much heart and conviction that it's really tough not to feel touched by them. Great reaction, thank you! ❤
The old man in this song was not the singer's grandfather. If that's the impression you have, listen to the words carefully. He said, "My momma's daddy was his oldest son" so he was the mother's grandfather making him the singer's great-grandfather, which to my mind makes the song even more special because it was a relationship between an old, old man and his great grandson.
I'm glad you loved it. The old man in the song is a great-grandfather actually. 👉 "My mommas daddy was his oldest son"
He never knew his material grandpa. He passed away before he was born. He grew up very close to his great-grandpa. The song was written years before Randy heard it but it was almost like it was written by Randy himself because of how much it matched his own life.
I knew youd appreciate that brother aint nothing like a grandfathers love right
Randy's voice is like a good burbon or whiskey that warms you from the inside out!...from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 👋🤠
Such a great one. I’m crying! Reminds me of my grandfather. He was blind, wore his overalls all the time and could still walk us out in the yard and to the orchard. I loved sitting on my shoulders while he was in his chair and comb his white hair. He’d scare me with his false teeth. I can still smell his tobacco to this day. 🥲❤️
The grandfather that mattered the most to me died when I was in 2nd grade. He had lung cancer and I knew he was probably never going to leave the hospital, but that last line grabs me every time.
I think that Randy has the most quintessential country voice. If anyone ever asks what country music should sound like...it's Randy Travis. This "new" country being created these days doesn't sound like Country to me.
It took me years to figure out he was talking about his great-granddad, not just his grandad. "My Mama's daddy (his granddad) was his oldest son..." just in case anyone missed that.
My grandma used to play this for my dead grandpa and it was always perfect ❤
I definitely felt that way about my grandfather.
I thought he was the greatest man in the world.
The best days of my life were the summers I spent on his farm.
My pawpaw crosses my mind each and every time I hear this song
Always loved this song!!! ❤❤❤❤
This is one of my favorite Randy songs. Another beautiful love song to fathers is Luther Vandross’ DANCE WITH MY FATHER.
If you listen carefully, its about his great grandfather........ " my mothers dad was his oldest son ".
This song makes me think of my grandfather. I was 9 years old when he died in 1960. He was 80.
I think this song is so powerful because it resonates with all of us, I was 29 when my grandma passed and lord I cried the day she died because I thought she walked on water
Still praying for you and your family. Healing takes time. Listening to music definitely helps to release emotion. Thank you for your reaction to this sweet song. ❤🙏🏻
This song reminds of my pops, my grandfather 😭
I know its about his great grandfather but it reminds me of my grandmother. I never knew my grandfather he died before I was born but my grandma was like this for me.
a great Randy classic
I'm sorry about your loss of your grandfather. I lost my grandmother a few years ago. 6 months before my wedding. And not a day goes by that I don't think about her. She was an Irish woman who married a country boy from Mississippi, He was in the military stationed in England in the 60's and that's where they met. ❤
I knew this would hit you when I saw the title. I grew up listening to this song.
I don't know if youve reacted to Ray Stevens Mississippi Squirrel revival. But the town pascagoula is where my grandpa is from. Hilarious song.
One of my favorite Randy songs
Sadly, what I miss is not having that kind of relationship with any of my grandparents. There were just so many grandchildren. It was the same for my daughters. The grandparents, my parents and in-laws, never had a closeness with my girls. Long ago, I swore things would be different when I had grandchildren. I wanted to break that chain. I now have a wonderful granddaughter, 17-years-old, and a just as awesome grandson, 11-years-old. They live next door to my husband and me, and I was blessed to be able to leave my job to care for both of them as babies and beyond so they wouldn't have to go to daycare. I've been blessed, and my grandchildren will have happy memories of their grandparents. That was my goal, and Im happy to say, my husband and I have achieved it.
My heart goes out to you, I had the same feelings and reaction to this song. My grandpa died a long time ago and it still affects me thinking about it. Thanks for your reaction to just one of his great songs and sharing the talented vocals of Randy Travis!
I missed my grandfather and my father. When I get this song. And yes, it is a beautiful song. I sink along with it, the whole time. Thinking of them.
Your wife is a lucky woman. God bless Y'all.
I love this song. Great reaction!
His voice is amazing and his songs are wonderful
1982 is another good song by Randy Travis
My great grandmother was who I thought walked on water!❤
I love this reaction video. Bawled my eyes out the entire video. My grandpa was my everything. I have loved this song since I was a kid in the 1980s and I always cry when I hear it.
One of my suggestions. I warned you Craig! I warned you!
Remind me of my oldest brother he was my hero gone but never forgotten 💔 😢
This one reminds me so much of my Grandfather. I miss him so much
I’m so happy that you reacted to this! It’s one of my favorite Randy Travis songs! I felt the same way about my G. G. (Grandma Ginn). ❤
Randy Teavis did a song with Alan Jackson called "Better Class Of Losers/She Got The Rhythm & I Got The Blues" where they mix two songs into one .
I think of my pop everytime I hear this song.. we were very close and he did on my birthday when I turned 6😢😢
My grandpa was the only father i ever had...he moved in with me when he got too sick and spent his last couple years there...hes been gone for 15 years now and theres not a day goes by that i dont hear his voice in my head...
Randy Travis never recorded a bad song or a song without meaning ❤

This has me thinking about my grandpa. 😢
Makes me miss my grandpa who passed in 1976 😢
Suggestion for you Lauren Alaina live at the Grand Ole Opry singing the Other Side. It begins with her telling the story of her stepdad. Truly beautiful!
May God Bless you. You are the best
On The Other Hand, is great too!
I literally love you. Your sincerity is EVERYTHING! Thank you. ❤
Love Randy
Hugs to you. Grief is so hard.
This one touches the very heart
