Thank you! Every dealership should watch this, it would save new owners time, and the aggravation of having to call the dealer who says bring it back. Found this while recharging the battery on first attempt to get it started and it worked like a charm.
Just got this bike in the USA last week and I'm having exactly this issue. Thank you for explaining!
I just bought this bike a week ago and the dealership had trouble starting it. I had it delivered to me and the delivery driver had trouble starting it. But after watching this video, I was able to get it started with no issues. Thanks !!
You are the kid from H20 all grown up thanks for the help
That's spot on mate 👍
When I was at the dealer he applied throttle simultaneously as the starter & it Would Not start !
He calls in the shop mechanic!
He does what you have shown, two to three seconds of starter then throttle & it goes 😅
A little quirk if the XR 150 but overall a great little beginner/learning bike & sure beats Any Scooter 🛵 on Philippines island roads!
In fact the suspension, although a bit soft delivers a comfortable ride on shitty roads 😅
Hi great video and very informative. I just bought an xr150 here in the Philippines so I’m just going over some videos. I first rode one in Hanoi and took it out for 2 weeks to the mountains. Great and amazing experience. I may come back and do some more riding there. I’ll check out some more of your vids as a quick glance looks like you have good topics. Thanks for the effort.
Thank you for this tip sir it will help me alot every morning.
Just bought my 150 , in Costa Rica , no problem warming it up. Love this bike!!
thank you for the actual tips sir! salute!
love it thanks for the tip.
Guddam XR 150 and these starting methods. I hate it but I love this bike (it's all I have..lol). I changed the oil to a thinner grade and it improved a lot better.
nice demo mate!
this video is really usful💯
Mr giant. Thank you
For the method no.5; You don't have to jump in the bike just to shift the gear and release the clutch.
Hold the clutch while in the gear 1 (Primera - in Philippine term),
you can push the bike or glide on the down hill,
then release the clutch ~
Gear 1 + clutch makes it harder to push. There is a small drag.
OLD SKUL ''KADYOT.''🤣😂😅
Atlas Cho your method that I have used over the years. I find it much easier for me and the drag from the clutch is not all that much. Besides the clutch can be popped as soon as the right foot is on the peg then just speed away while throwing the left leg over. With practice it can become one smooth motion. This is growing up with a DT100 that needed a new starter and too poor to fix it. When I learned this I did not bother to fix it. I could get going just as fast with a little push.😁
I learned another method from an ex 500cc scrambler, South African national champ. He turns 88 this year and still bump-starts his Honda XL500 this way - as per the video I made copying his method:
czcams.com/users/shorts34B0TjEayPE?feature=share
@@Tigitmotorbikes You are quite correct but it starts much easier when pulled back "against compression". Besides this video,

Great video... Short and to the point
Thanks
perfect instructions!
popular in the Philippines is the hard start of XR150, the cheapest and best remedy is to replace the carbs pilot jet with the TMX 155 (can be bought online) for P120-150...i tuned the carb properly/correctly or leave it stock, dont touch anything except replacing the pilot jet...yesterday and today (with fog in our area)....it was just one kick and it continued on its idle...comparatively, with the stock pilot jet, using choke is the best way to start and rev it for some time (like 2-5 mins) to come to its idle...Now, I dont have that method or annoyed as before..the replacement of pilot jet has removed "all rituals" on the hard starting issue....
What's the exact size of the pilot jet sir?
Thanks 🙏👍👍 it helps a lot...
Thank you for the tips
nice, very informative, planning to buy exactly the same model. perfect tutorial. keep it up !!
I own an XR 150L model 2017, we purchased it to be an emergency motorcycle so that if our main motorcycles are not in the condition, we have another motorcycle to use. It's already 5 years now, and believe me, all of these methods right here won't work all the time.
The stock XR 150L is a pain in the ass to start, especially on a cold morning. You'll probably burn almost half a liter of gasoline just by starting it, too many revs and too many choke turns, and at the end, the bike will start desperately and you'll notice some white smoke coming out of the pipe (which is not normal for a 2017 model 4 stroke).
What I did to fix the issue is to change the carburetor, I purchased a genuine/authentic TMX 155/CG 150 Keihin Carburetor and replace the defective stock carb of the XR. I bought it for around 4500 Philippine Pesos, and it is worth the price, my XR isn't a pain in the ass to start anymore, though it's not literally a "1-click" starting, the new tmx 155 carb does better than the stock because regardless of the weather, cold or raining, the bike can start easily within 2-3 clicks on the electric starter.. My XR is now running great and without any issues like hard starting..
To those people who will ask, the Xr stock carb and the Keihin TMX Carburetor are the same, they just differ on jet sizes and the TMX Carburetor jet size is the perfect fit for the XR 150L engine. The original/genuine carb is a little bit expensive, but you are not going to worry about the quality and performance.
If the price of the Keihin carburetor is expensive, you can do the alternative way which is to replace the jet size of the stock carb, buy new sets of jet which are the same size as the tmx 155 stock carburetor and change the jets on you stock XR carb. That would also be effective.
Hi sir thank ypu for sharing this video
thank you Sir!
Thanks mate!
thankyou so much

Nice review. Thank you John Estrada - look alike bro.

My xr150 is pain in the ass i change my carburator...im using pz27 carburator and the hard starting went away but even xr series of honda is pain in the ass specially in cold weather i love it coz when its starts running its cool and enjoy ride😁
What size wattage auxiliary lights can I add to my xr 150 L ? Asking from South Africa. Thanks
Valueble tips Thank you 👍
No worres
Reminds me of my XR650L. If your in a hurry you can start riding with choke 1/2 on for a couple minutes
Thanks for the video. Question...I have a XTZ125 I just put 17's on. I have a 42T sprocket on order but wonder how I can rectify the analog speedo?
use a smart phone and a GPS app.
Who needs a speedo in this day and age
you think this is bad! I have a 1985 xl600r and that bike is a challenge! so funny!
This video made me rethink getting one but my XR starts everytime with a light touch of the button, no throttle needed.
Lol. I just rented one from Tigit just 20 minutes ago.
sir,,,, can you add some videos on how to tune up XR 150??
What specifically do you want to know ?
Its easy buddy the inatake is 12mm in filler gauge and the exhause is 8mm its very popular a bike like this specially in the philippines
Oh good lord tell me about it, finally worked out the starting ritual after about 6 months of owning it, if it's used everyday it's ok but leave it a week and you're fannying about and tickling the choke for 10 mins.
Is there a problem with the fork seals on these ? Mine have gone in a short period of time with little use, I'm going with fork flex under braking as it was the nearside that went first...
I'm taking the liberty to reply as I noticed you didn't get a reply yet. One of my XR150's fork seals started leaking with only 5000km on the clock. I replaced them BOTH with a good quality, although aftermarket, brand and they've not started leaking after I've done another 5000km.
They are fairly simple to replace yourself if you're a DIY type of person.
@@DaveZee01 : Thanks for the info, very interesting, what brand did you use ? I've replaced mine but with Honda parts, my CBR600 is still on the original set after 29 years so there seems something a bit off with these, mine went at around the 7000 km mark I think, apart from that it's a decent bike for not much money.
@@PaulMappud Unfortunately can't memo the name of the brand but definitely not Motrix, which I avoid. I don't think these Honda's are manufactured in Japan so maybe a poor brake disk-pad supplier was used. I'm quite happy with my XR150, besides its slow warming up tendancy. I also fitted a one tooth smaller front sprocket, which actually gives a slightly better topspeed, besides being a bit more responsive all round. I think they exaggerated the gearing somewhat for the small power increase over the XR125.
What do you mean manual they have this in automatic or semi auto?
my bike its not starting well
.how do l fix it
Hi, I'm coming to work in Hanoi in 4 weeks, what is the process to get an A1 bike licence? I currently have a UK driving licence...thanks.
Replied on a different comment of yours.
Carburetor tuning video plz?
above my pay grade at the moment. Carbs are complicated, but it is something I am researching.
Mine starts when I hold the clutch and push the ignition
yeah.minw too.i have to hold it for it to start.
Hi what kind of millage do you get from a full tank of fuel on the XR150
300km
Hi, I know it's been a couple years since you posted this informative video on the XR150L. I watched it like a year ago and came back to it to post this question.
My XR has a dead spot just as the throttle is opened on a warm engine (i.e. at takeoff, in stop and go traffic, et.). It has done it since new and the mechanic at the shop I purchased it at said they all do that.
My hope is that there is a correction or adjustment for this and maybe you may be familiar with the issue and know what the fix is. Thanks
Unfortunately it is quite normal for the XR to come "broken". We have this on many of our bikes.
It can be so many different things, and ultimately you need to find a good mechanic.
Valve adjustment and carburetor are a good starting point.
Would these work with the xr125 aswell?
Yes, basically the same bike.
We can increase pick up in this bike or not??
yes there is a fuel screw on the carb
@@Tigitmotorbikes please make one video to increase pick up in xr 150
Which country is this??...
Viet Nam
Gear 1 unusual??? Normally 2nd on 4 stroke bikes mmm. 👍
don't know. Whatever works :D
It works on this bike
Damn you're tall
For sure
Too bad the ones sold in the US don't come with a kick starter. I realize they were trying to keep the price down, but it was already on the bike. Very disappointing.
Did you not realise the choke is there to aid starting and warm the bike up by using a richer fuel air mix, when starting a bike or any angine with a carb for that matter, use the choke until it can run without it, if its still not running right, your carb is not setup properly
Think you are simplifying and over complicating at the same time.
The video is not trying to diagnose anyone's bike problems. There are plenty of reasons for starting issues, far more than a carb.
The video is not looking to be technical or scientific
@@Tigitmotorbikes this motor cycle has a issue with "cold starts" im in the philippines where it never gets below 26 degrees . and it still requires a full choke and then reved at high idle in mid choke, for a minute until it runs rough there . but putting off choke then it stalls . unless the idle is set higher , but later after a relative long warm up .the idle is now maybe at 2 k rpm . there must be fix for this . remove that air valve or a different carburetor? bad design honda , bad .
@@boracay12 it could be to do with how your carb is set, you may need different jets depending on how high you are from sea level and how humid your atmosphere is
@@motleymenace at sea level and very humid . Changing the plug helped . Going to a higher elevation needs change in jets .
This bike is bad on warm ups . It's it's nature . Some change the carb .. that might be worth it .
@@boracay12 changing the carb would be the last thing id try id try tinkering with the mix and internals before a whole new one, eliminate each fault as it rises
how tall are you?
about 2 meters

i thought the choke must be in the middle.
You thought wrong :)
@@Tigitmotorbikes yeah..thank so much for the enlightenment..
Can I have that bike
Sure
@@Tigitmotorbikes how and where
too bad its not fuel injected
dont do that on xr600r its other teknik you must use
If you need to learn how to start a honda, you probably shouldn't be riding through Vietnamese traffic.
Nah, this bike is a one off and like no other I've owned to start, if you use it everyday it's not to bad but leave it a week and like he says it stalls out until it's warmed up and it takes a loooong time to warm up, the owners manual is no help at all.
Useless bike 🚳🚳🚳
Yo don't deserve to own a bike if you don't know all these things
That bike is too small for you 😆
