  • The XR 150 is good at city commuting, long distance travel and offroading.
It costs $3000 new and has a second hand market value of around $1400-600
    Reliable and cheap to maintain.
Tigit Jon shows why the XR is the best motorbike in Vietnam, if you can only own one motorbike!

We also had a 55mph speed limit. 150cc bikes are extremely limited in the states today. There’s a reason bigger bikes are so prevalent here - it’s not cultural, it’s practical.

Just picked one up today 2023 model. Wish it had a Kickstart but it fires on the first bump so we'll see how it goes. I tried 5 dealerships all 50 miles from my location. First place wanted 4900 with extended warranty 4200 without. That was a bit higher than what was advertised at 2970. Long story short, almost got screwed and went elsewhere out of state. 3500 after ttl. I'm 6'-4" and 250 lbs. I couldn't be happier with this bike. I've had big Harley Davidsons, big Hondas, Yamaha, and a few others since the early 90's. Will do what I want it to on my farm no problem. Had no idea it was Chinese...😅

Great video! Just got my xr150l here in the Philippines. I'm a 6'3" US foreigner and I fit fine with my wife. Didn't know it was made in China, I hope it has the well known Honda quality. I'm used to big 500cc+600cc enduros in the US, so after looking at scooters, I got a brainwave to look for DS bikes. With the bad roads here, it's the perfect bike.

Hi Tigit motorbikes. I'm learning alot from your videos. Just got my XR150 it is my 1st clutch bikes. You're right it took alot of practice to tame the bike but I love it. For weekend road trips one of the show stoppers is punctured tires. Do you have any suggestion on how to make it tubeless and add some liquid sealant inside?. I've done this in my scooter and it works until next tire repalcement. I have to replace liquid sealant in yearly basis.

    • @Tigitmotorbikes
      @Tigitmotorbikes  Před 3 lety +1

Not familiar with a way of using liquid solution to fill.
      1. Get good tires, if in vietnam that is VeeRubber tires and veetubber innertube.
      2. If still having problems, get rim locks.
      3. Have psi set to 20 to 30 for road
      4. Carry 1 x 19 inch inner tube. This will go both front and back.
If you do the above then flats are incredibly rare. So rare that you shouldn't be worried anymore.

This is coming to Canada which excites me. My friends think I'm crazy but the most fun days I've ever had riding were on small bikes. Simplicity, Honda reliability, a comfy looking seat, luggage rack and a long range fuel tank. Usually you have to pay 3 times more to get all those things from the factory and then you get a 500 pound, hard to work on bike which is really heavy off road. Riding is all about fun and I think I could have epic adventures on one of these. I think I'd also have more fun living in Vietnam where I call ride all year long.

Yes, smaller capacity motorcycles built in SE Asia are comparatively cheap in the Philippines where the average monthly income is around $300. Bikes around 400cc and over are closer CBX-500X is £5300 (12% VAT) in the Philippines and £6249 in the UK (including 20% VAT). Unfortunately you can not get an XT 250 Yamaha in most of Asia. The XT 250 would be much more suited for all around use. The XT or Serow 250 depending on country and year, has much more ground clearance and suspension travel. Weight is almost the same as this Honda. It comes with the 21/18 wheels stock. Probably better brakes and lower seat height .. Yes there is a $2,300 price difference but it's also going to go faster and have much more power at all levels..😎 But the Honda looks modern.. Has good features for a $3,000 bike. I do see the Serow 250 is currently available in the Philippines .. At 240k peso this is similar to list price in the USA. Much better bike in my opinion.. But it means much greater resources going to payments for most people..

I don't agree about it not having a place. The XR150L is a 70/30 and the CRF150L is more 50/50 (road/offroad).If faced with both the CRF150L is more modern design, FI, brakes, suspension, 21/18 wheels, and lighter. The XR150L has a bigger seat, smaller 19/17 wheels, lower seat height, simple carb, higher top speed, and lower price (used and new). The Wr155 is a better bike but at a significant cost, not much of a 2nd market now. I would recommend a 2nd have KLX250S (FI) for around the same price as the Wr155, if you have a A2 license in VN.

Cars motorcycles much cheaper in Phillipines because they don’t screw you on taxes and much easier to register, probably more easier to obtain a2 licence in Vietnam. Philippines LTO a pain in the ass! And rip off… corruption fees.

      Welcome to Vietnam
      1. Pollution
      2. Covid (people still scared)
      3. Protection from the sun.

A lot of the mask wearing is for pollution. In Philippines and most of Asia there’s a lot of soot puffing diesels and 2 stroke motorcycles. I was over there in 2008, long before Covid, and lots of people wore masks for the pollution. It’s easy to see why.
