Has anyone found a good tire for this bike?
I've fitted Michelin Sirac's - with the rear being a 120 vs the stock 110. I've done over 6000 miles on them so far but bought an extra set when they were on a special (here in South Africa)
I have Shinko 705
@@DaveZee01also from SA, are these good on the road aswell?
@@Ride_Quest I haven't had any issues with them as yet. I'd say they're more road orientated than off-road.
Been looking into tires myself. Anyone tried the Dunlop Mission tires on this bike? I am thinking they may fit in the closest sizes but not sure. I saw a guy who had mounted some Shinko 804/805’s on his XR150L.
Good list. I love the “smaller bike” trend we’re seeing from manufacturers.
I’m excited for them new Triumph 400’s
Same, because Im short lmao

Agreed! Canada is the last to get product, if at all. I may have to move to Oz.
they just need to bring back the xr50 motard from 2007 and we are set
I got this motorcycle here in Philippines 2017. No complaint at all as of this writting. Yes, tire is a little tricky to find. I able to test my top speed at 120kph. I dont do off road so everything is still stock on it. How I wish they could come up with a 250 or 300cc of this model for a little more juice when over taking in the high way. One thing I really loved about it is the seat. I could be on it for 4hours straight without feeling pain in the butt. I would keep mine til it retires. At the moment my odo reading is in 60k
Magkaon fuel consumption boss? Km/l?

I really like your video. Useful information, straight to the point and no BS. I'm actually going to look at this bike tomorrow, and all these mods look great. Especially the bags and footpegs, must haves.
Nicely done! Quick and to the point. Practical upgrades. Great links. Much appreciated.
Looks a great little bike , thinking of downsizing , and the more I hear and see on these smaller capacity bikes the more appealing I find them , for ease of use , economy and easy to work on yourself, nice video thanks 😊.
Fantastic video...evrything you need, nothing you don't. Thanks much.
Just got my 150. LOVE it. My buddy loved mine and went and got one too. Best motorcycle on the market.
I’m really wanting to get one too. Anything you don’t like about it? Also, how fast is the top speed?
Bought my bike in Miami
So Happy with it! And nice to see it available around the world 😊 Can’t wait to take it on the trails up north
Great video
I absolutely love the rear bags! Tusk makes good stuff at a great price.
Thanks for the informative video, keep them coming!
DUDE I KNEW YOU WERE SO FAMILIAR HOLY CRAP
i was just looking for inspiration to trick up my xr 150l didnt expect to find the guy who convinced me to get the razer blackshark v2 x years ago. big fan of The Techne
You know, you talking about going on long rides makes me very confident I won't have any overheating issues with the engine, since my old 250cc Air Cooled Chinese Dirt Bike overheated all the time, even with high speed, low rev cruising. It wasn't a good first impression to Carburetors and Air Cooling so I'm glad this small Honda is more reliable and consistent
I love the stock mirrors. Nice and big!
Great vid! I’m seriously considering one of these bikes. You gave great feedback. Thank you! SUBSCRIBED!!!
All great mods! Glad to see that you enjoy this bike despite having/had bigger adventure bikes, like me.
If your new USA model is mechanically identical to my 2015 model, here in South Africa, then I can highly recommend the fitment of a one tooth smaller front sprocket, which I believe is equivalent to a 2/3 teeth larger rear sprocket.
The shorter gearing keeps the bike in its torque band, while surprisingly not affecting its top speed of 70mph (speedo reading on a level road)
These are very sensible mods that actually improve the bikes functionality for its rider.
So many videos the mods are about spending money on exhaust and other mods trying to get more power and do nothing but increase the noise pollution out of a small motor that was not designed for higher power levels and if you need more power you should have bought a more powerful bike.
This bike can make an excellent around town/rural roads commuter and exploring easier off road areas at a sane pace as again the suspension is not designed for high speed off road types of loads.
Good video!
Amigo! Excelente video. Gracias. Saludos desde Sinaloa Mexico 🇲🇽
Nice, neat, clean smart mods .. bike is looking great..
Thank you for this review! Very informative and helpful.
Lamicall phone mounts rock dude. I’ve NEVER had an issue with one.
I bought the IRC GP1 trials tires. 2.75 - 19 front and 4.6 - 17 rear. Very satisfied.
Can you share the link to them? Greatly appreciated
We have these common mods on our bike. Except for the handgrip, I had already brought everything you had for this bike. 👍👍~
Ride safe ~
Those little Hondas take you back to old school fun and are deadly reliable. Good and useful mods and smart to not mod the engine unless you want to go toe to toe with those legendary Honda engineers! One thing I found useful on small bikes is a Trail Tech temperature gauge so you can avoid overheating your bike. I have one on my CRF250L that is water cooled and I think they make them for air cooled also. Simple installation and they run forever on a watch battery. Mine still has the factory battery going strong after six years. Nice video, Hoss!
I have the cylinder head temp one, that’s basically a washer with a wire soldered to it that goes under your spark plug. To me it doesn’t matter how ‘exact’ it is, within the first few trips on my Honda Monkey I could see new high temps, maxed temps on hot days and from then on out I didn’t have to worry if I was pushing it to hard, because when it got to X degrees I knew that was the point that I better back off a bit, yet prior I feel comfortable hammering on it!
Cheap, easy and going strong after 3 years.
What a good video you did for us,thank you!
This little thing is the true adventure bike. Everything super cheap, super lightweight if you drop it somewhere, easily repairable and insane fuel mileage. Were very popular in Brazil from 2003 as a 125cc, upgraded to 150cc at some point and now it's a 160cc. The 160cc engine is a bit fragile compared to the old and good 125/150, dropped by the ESG shitty laws.
And now, Honda is crazy. The 160 Bros has an insane price tag for what it is, at about 4500USD (direct BRL x USD conversion) on retails.
Great video! Ordered pegs, grips, slid plate
I have this bike in here in the Philipines for over a year now and it's a great bike. Even used it as a daily driver. Way comfy seat than the CRF or any other typical street legal dirt bikes. I have the same exact mods as well plus some front fork covers and even a modded BMW windshield. As for the tires, you can change it to 18/21 rims and put some full off road tires on it, it'll boost the bike's ground clearance, though you'd have to adjust your engine/rear sprocket to compensate for the changes. If you'd stay with the stock 17/19 config, the stock tires (I think that's CST) are overall great. Other good tire options are Shinko or Dunlop ( kinda hard to find 19'' dunlop tires tho ).
new subs here man love your vids am a honda for life fanatics
What an amazing video 😮💨
Great job on your video. Love your energy new subscriber now.
Some really good mods! But I've tried a ton of phone mounts and you won't get me off of quadlock, that system is worth it. :)
Great mods.
Thank you for your reply! Greatly appreciated! Yes i think i'll just leave it alone. Except for the skid plate and foot pegs. Also, if i trade in the bike later on or sell it, i think I might have a problem with it if I mangle ir. So thanks once again!!!
These are great mods, seems like the foot pegs are absolutely necessary. Love the fuel cell bag 👍
Cool video!
As for tires i would recommend the Shinko E700. Great for dual sport riding and reasonably priced.
Do you know some that are more off off road that would fit?
Good video!
Tires = MOTOZ Tractionator! Absolutely love them on my Suzuki DR200SE.
Thank you! I've been looking for bags, pegs, etc. and didn't know what to get or if stuff would fit. Thanks for doing the work!
Glad I could help!
I dont see any links to go by
Thanks for the links to all your upgrades on the Video Description page ! Looks like a lot of the stuff was found on Amazon and I'm a Prime member which helps me even more ! Thanks !
How do I fi d the video description page
We used to change sprockets in order to climb banks in the 80s. A cheap way to change the bike's low end but it also took away from the top end too. If someone needs top end for the street, I'm assuming a larger front sprocket and/or smaller rear could slow take off but possibly hit that 70mph consistently. Just a thought since there's no ecu on the bike.
Nice mods👍
Thank you 😊😎💯
Glad I was able to help
Excellent video
thank you
This bike is very popular in our country. Philippines...very reliable and comfortable..
I'd love to see if Shinko 804/805s would fit this bike. They're cheap which is right in line with your mods so far! Great video.
They fit? What size
@@adventureundone i'm not sure...they are available in the correct wheel sizes but they might not fit between the bike's forks/swingarm due to their width. I'm planning on picking up an XR150L in the coming months and would love to know what my options are! Thanks for the content so far, I'm a new sub :)
First thing i did was replacing the steel rims with Aluminum ones. Next installing Alloy handlebars and softer grips. Lithium battery will be next.
Shinko 244 Knobby Street legal tires fit. Have them on my XR150. Look good and ride more like a dirt bike off-road.
Thanks for the upgrades. I will be working on doing them. How hard was it to replace the handle bars? Thanks for the video!!!!
Incredibly easy
you could spray some dwr or silicone waterproofing spray on the bags to increase their water resistance
I'm going to keep it real... I have been thinking about adding a cheaper phone mount to my KTM, but worried about the vibrations killing the camera. I'm going to give something like what you have in this video a try for my next ride coming up soon. Gotta love a dual sport. They really are so affordable to mod! Thanks for posting. I don't know if the Tusk D-Sport will fit, but they are a decent dual sport tire.
I also have the full built out quad lock with vibration and all. But I still prefer and use this style shown.
iPhone 14 pro max
@@adventureundone Good deal!
I use the same phone mount on my xr150l, love them both...
@@danbowser Good looking out!
I have a $15 Amazon one and it works great on my DRZ400S. I got off road frequently. It has never fallen off.
I wanna see some exhausts come out for this bike, or some testing to see which ones are interchangeable, maybe CRF150 exhausts. It's hard to hear the motor at higher speeds through the helmet. It wouldn't be as much of a problem if it had a tach.
I love how quiet it is when off road. But you are right, it’s hard to hear, I have to double check when starting it when in a group 😂
Great video, thanks much, i got a few, can you show how to install the hand guards?
Got them on now, not to sure its right, but on,
The right one, cant tighten to tight or the throttle sticks.
Love it. How easy is it to take the wheels on and off
Great video on mods, love my XR150L, even better with some of these mods you've got! Footpegs#1 stock ones are awful.
On your link, did you order the footpeg compatible with CRF150R?
I was wondering the same thing. He says Crf150 but I am assuming he means CRF150R.
@brianperkins2180 I ordered the ones for the CRF150R, did not work. I'm wondering if it's the CRF150F, at this point I'm going to research further, I'm heading to Yellowstone with the XR, no time to reorder now. Once I figure it out, I'll def post on my channel, you let me know if you find the right ones too.
@@yosemitemotorsportadventur8562 Any updates on the pegs? I also ordered the same ones and they are definitely not for the bike. First tried to bend the tabs out to fit the wider peg base but the hole and pin diameter of the new pegs are much bigger also. Hope Yellowstone was fun!
Hey on the foot pads are you able to set you foot so it is riding ready on the back brake foot lever? I am used to having my foot ready to brake comfortably on my old DRZ400 Dual Sport and Honda 300 Dual Sport and notice the small stock foot pads on my new XR150L do not allow for that. Thanks!
any suspension mods... stiffer springs ? etc?
Which size foot pegs did you select?
I ordered the same handguards. How do you install them using the stock grips? Drill out the middle or cut off the ends or something else?
I agree about the tires! Have you been using this more on trails than on the street? Would love an LED headlight as well.
nice
The back of your cell mount has a little lever that will lock the spring mechanism to the phone. Otherwise on some rough bumps that spring could give up your $1000 phone.
I have a white XR 150. How is the skid plate you ordered?
With the bar swapped to a slightly thicker bar. Doesnt anything special need to be done with the controls? Does everything still fit?
Where did you get the mirrors? I see left side on amazon but not the right. Thanks
Is the link to the foot pegs directly to them? There's so many different types on that link
if only they make the color better!
Did you use the stock throttle tub on these still? Or would a motion pro work too?
@adventureundone Any chance you could update the foot peg link? Myself and multiple others below, ordered the linked pegs only to find out they are incorrect. The bracket is too wide for the bike and the holes/pins are too large also. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
Hey thanks for the video. I tried the red foot pegs and the ones they sent me wouldn't slide into the slot where the stock ones were. Did you have to shave them down at all or make any modifications ? Maybe they just sent the wrong ones?
Same here. I went right to the link from the video comments and ordered them. They were a good .06" too wide for the bracket... so I figured maybe a quality issue and bent the tabs of the bracket out a bit to try and fit it... still no good, the pin is a larger diameter and does not fit the hole of the bracket either. The pegs linked do not fit. Maybe there is another bike option to choose from the same MFR?? Help on this would be greatly appreciated!
Primo vid, get well soon
Do the crf150 foot pegs fit the xr150???? Amazon link says they don’t
Sir I like your bag 🙏🇸🇽
I just wasted money on two sets of those hand guards. The first time was my bad trying to test fit the fitting that go into the bar where I put the adapter on and slightly tightened the screw but, was unable to separate those parts. I ended up buying a 2nd pair just for those two parts. After I got the end part in the part that goes to the inside of the handlebars would not fit the taper or ben of the bar. If I look at yours in the video they have a slight bend in the bracket whereas my bracket is completely straight. Even the picture of the one in the link shows the straight bracket I got. Where did you get the slightly bent bracket? P.S. also wasted money on grips that I had to replace after cutting the ends off for the guards that don't fit.
Skid plates look " off road cool, but, the frame should suffice, for those few log/ rock , encounters. Skid plates, are basically shovels, that scoop up/ catch dirt, rocks and debris, and hold it against the frame real good. Add the water, and you have a good muck storage area. 😂
Must admit, I've taken my 2015 model XR150L (here in darkest Africa) over some very rough terrain and not managed to damage anything on the underside of the bike - so far 😅
Have you considered installing a windshield?
Adam, great review. You are a natural. I don't even care about the Honda 150. But I love to hear your reviews. Keep up the good work.
Thanks a bunch!
Can you send links for each of the accessories please?
Hello, I'd like to see Wolfman Saddle bags mounted to it. " Hey! "
I want to get one of these bikes, I first saw them on a trip to Mexico and noticed they didn’t have them here in the US so I thought about importing one but they were released a year later. I know the aftermarket is huge down there since 1/20 bikes out there is this one. Maybe you can find something from a website in Mexico with international shipping?
So I’ve been trying to find compatible foot pegs. I went to your link but the Amazon auto says not compatible. And yet there you are with a great foot peg that works. Did you order the CRF 150 compatible?
PS thank you
Yes the 150’s
@@adventureundone thank you. I’ll order immediately!😆
QUESTION: is there a mod to have a fuel gauge?
Los estribos también funcionan para el pasajero?
Just copped the blue handle grips so it can be red white and blue colors. I have the white xr150L
Where can i buy those bags?
I just bought one..
I bought foot pegs and they didn’t fit anyone knows where I can get some that actually fit
I might buy these bridgestone BATTLAX ADVENTURECROSS AX41
That my fav tire, I have them on my Triumph.
But will they work on this bike since they are tubeless?
@@adventureundone I believe you can on those types of rims. Not bad just in case you get flats
Also found a compatible foot peg extender foot. BAIONE Kickstand Extension Pad Replacement for Honda CRF300L CRF 300L Rally 2021 2022 Motorcycle Side Stand Foot Enlarger Plate Extender (Red)
So the 300L kickstand foot works?
@@adventureundone it fits and hasn’t come off. There might be a better one out there but I tried this one and it’s worth it’s weight in gold.
Confused on the foot pegs. The mounting end looks different depending on make model of bike, Can u reply a link to the black ones? Thanks!
Not enough clarification on this, the CRF150R pegs don't fit, I ordered & now returning. Maybe it's the CRF150F pegs. Going to research further, meanwhile I'm off to Yellowstone NP with the XR and terrible footpegs😕 but I do love this little thumper!
@@yosemitemotorsportadventur8562 have a blast. did you take the rubber off the stock pegs?
@fogcityrc4874 Yes, took rubber off, ok on pavement but if your standing on pegs, it's terrible but I don't even have a skid plate yet, so won't get too crazy🤣 luckily I've got my trusty drz400 as well! But I'm gonna enjoy the XR offroad eventually.
Is there any way to add a gas gauge to one of these? I’d love to get one but the lack of gas gauge is kinda concerning
I road a couple of small 250 cc motorcycle for years that didn’t have a gas (petrol) gauge. The idea was NEVER to turn the emergency reserve supply off. Generally never got that low that I had to use it … maybe once in every 5 years. The idea is to work out the fuel range and make sure you fill up before the last 40 kms.
I got a 900CC naked bike, looking at this for exploration.
Good video except the plug for Amazon. Bet you could get all those mods from shops and you’d be helping smaller businesses.
I can't even afford Amazon
Has anyone found a good windscreen for this bike?
Where are the links please?
Parallel
The bars 'made me feel like I was on a smaller bike.' Huh?
Convert to 18/21 rims
Is it legal to drive this 149 cc in California freeway?
Yes
Bummer!!! I was hoping for front shock mods!!!! My son’s 2022 Lifan Xpect 200 exactly same front soft shock as your bike!!! Needs more stiffer shocks.
use heavier oil ?
Whats the difference between the engine of XR 150 L to Crf 150 L?
