HELLO FROM LAGOS, NIGERIA -- COUNTRY #175!! 🇳🇬 I truly had a lot of fun making this video inside Africa's craziest and most populated city. Did you know that over 20 million people are living in Lagos?! It is hands down one of the most hectic, chaotic, and vibrant places I've ever been with a LOT of stories to tell. I'm overwhelmed.
My local friend and CZcamsr named Tayo (his channel linked below) has been taking me all around his bustling city of Lagos and we've had an absolute blast together. Surprisingly, this was one of the hardest videos I've ever made because it's REALLY challenging to shoot content on these streets. People don't like being on camera here and they make a huge commotion in the streets and ask for money (etc) whenever they see it from a distance.
In any regard, I hope you enjoy this episode of my $10 series and get a glimpse into local Nigerian culture. More to come tomorrow! Nigeria is awesome!

The best part about Drew is that he treats everyone with respect and equality. I've always noticed that he promotes street vendors, local and homegrown shopkeepers, and is very humble and polite towards them. That's the kind of community and society we need to build around us, the one that has respect for other cultures and religions and promotes diversity. ❤️ Thankyou for being a great example Drew. Much respect 💚🌻
And they still charge him more than they would charge a local. It would be nice if the respect was reciprocated. Instead of 'whitey' being a score.
@@manufacturedconsent7850 well I think thats fine. The white tourist has so more much money and who cares about 1$ for a handmade bracelet? When I was traveling in southeast asia I sometimes knew that the price I paid was a little bit too high. But I mean, our income is like 4 or 5 times higher than what the people get per month.
@@TyraVid How magnanimous of you. Yes, we all do that. However theres a thing called principles, which I keep being told, African people are full of and are all so delightful. I've seen very little from traveling and most of these travel shows that suggest tourists are nothing more than marks to be scammed or robbed in most third world countries, where is the respect there?
Manufactured Consent market people only charge foreigners more because they can get away with it. It's not about respecting their fellow countrymen, it's about knowing that locals are aware of how much things cost and won't be willing to pay a higher amount. Go to most markets in the world, if you look or sound unlike a local, expect to be charged more. Even shops with fixed prices have overpriced keychains, postcards, etc targeted at tourists, who are willing to pay extra. Most people do understand this when they go abroad.
Good point
as a foreigner who schooled in lagos before moving to abuja, i've live in nigeria for 14 years, i can tell y'all it's a nice place, so seeing these kind of videos make me feel happy and in a way i feel nigerian cuz i grew up here, and my friends see me as one lmao

I'm Nigerian...let me explain how it is
Normal price: 100NGN
Price when sellers see a white guy: 500NGN
EVERYTIME.
I can't believe I have to add this but, this isn't racism against white people, that's not the underlying principle at play. Sellers in open markets around the world will charge based on how wealthy they think you are and how familiar with the environment they think you are. You're free to hassle for a better deal too obvs

It doesn't matter we the tax payer gets screwed anyways, if 2hst you say is right and I have heard somethings similar to this before and there is probably some truth in it.
It's just benefiting some companies and neither nation.
In Ireland we have Trocaire which is government funded and it gets hundreds of millions a year. It gives food and shelter etc to Africans.
And also is very active in bringing them here, and have been seen walking hand in hand with literal communists and leftists who were supporting the government to get rid or limit speech.

😂 as a Nigerian I died seeing how he was fleeced for everything he got... I like the way he priced the bracelets, he should always insist on half the price he is told, and this is for anyone who ever visits Nigeria.
But this is false.
A bunch of bananas that size goes for N500 in Lagos. N400 minimum.
The overpriced thing was really the bracelet and Drew knew. Maybe the flag too. Nothing else.

@Pends You're either stupid, or have a Strange sense of humor. You know the answer… maybe….
@Pends 100% OF something is the same. 100% more is actually double :)
You shouldn't mind paying these people extra, we live better than most of them and they aren't making a killing off you. 500 NGN is 1.38$.
I'm a Nigerian and I often here some foreigners say how much Nigeria is an awesome country but to be honest I don't really see it and my fellow Nigerians can relate
Anyway just wanted to say I love your videos and would love to give you a tour my my side
BTW I live in Lagos ojo
Much love bro 💚💚
Thanks for coming to Nigeria 🌹❣️
Drew: are u confused
Guy: no I can’t confused
Yh... just a grammatical error. Don't take it seriously.
Yes Drew was confused and arrogant as usual. Those were most likely plantains which stay green, not bananas.
LightsCamera Killz i think it’s coz he bought plantain and he thought it was banana
@@jacksonanubis9101 Actually, plantains do not stay green, they change colour when ripe. Chill
@@stellao.5824 lol clearly they never cooked a plantain
The guy with you is Tayo Aina, one of the top CZcamsrs in Nigeria. kudos Tayo!
As a Nigerian, I really liked this video! I recommend trying something called gala. It’s like a sausage role. Even though I don’t like it, it is quite famous there.
People there work so hard. We look down on them, but there is so much potential.
I’ve got a friend from there, he’s a prince , sorting me out with some gold, really nice fella
Lmao
Yo me too
🤣 How do I explain this to you...
YOU TOO? Yeah my friend the prince is about to send me the gold I just have to finish paying for the shipping, and processing, and paperwork. It should be coming any day now as i have been paying him direct bank withdraw for the last 2yrs so i know it should all be paid any day now.
@@RossMalagarie 😂😂😂😂
