1:03 This part is not projection. He is responding to the fact that Colby said he won the fight. Masvidal is not saying that he himself didn't get his ass beat by Usman and Colby did. He is just making the point that he thinks Colby is delusional for thinking that he won the fight. There is a distinction here. Masvidal does not claim that he did not get beat either.
2:20 He is clearly being playful with his responses (He does this all the time with Ariel). And in that time frame he was the biggest star, while heading into the biggest fight of the year. And is cockiness a bad trait?
3:30 are you insinuating that Masvidal is a fraud? "Defeating overrated fighters". Darren Till went on to beat Kelvin Gastelum very easily after Gastelum had just been in a 5 round war with the current champ Adesanya (Pushed Adesanya the hardest out of all his fights and hurt him a few times). He also lost a very close decision to Robert Whittaker (dropped him in that fight) who is clearly 2nd best middleweight and a level above the rest of the contenders. Tills loss to Brunson was bad, but it was an injury ridden Till (Torn ACL and others) and was clearly out of shape. "Nothing but devastating losses in multiple sports". He lost a boxing fight (which he clearly is not built for, he has been a wrestler all his life, any slightly trained amateur boxer would beat him, he has always been known for his high calibre wrestling) Going in to the Masvidal fight, Askren was the heavy favourite and was viewed to be a bad matchup, which it was, but Masvidal used an unexpected technique and his explosiveness to carry out the fastest KO in UFC history against an Olympic level wrestler and multiple organisational champion. I cannot see what is overrated about winning that. It's fair to call Nate Diaz overrated, but the win was still dominant and an impressive display of his striking. I think it is unfair to completely disregard his 3 wins that year because he has lost a few fights (Against the P4P no.1 and the no.2 best welterweight on the planet). The 2 best guys Masvidal could possibly face.
The rest of the video is fair, but I think you are over analysing the choice of words Masvidal uses. He clearly has a distaste towards Colby (due to Colby's trash talk and personal remarks) and will call him many negative words and some of those words may fit Masvidal, but that does not mean some of his negative words towards Colby do not fit Colby also.

The argument could be made that Usman and Colby are overrated too. How are you number 2 after beating mainly old guys on skids, and how are you p4p #1 for KOing a journeyman you already hugged to a decision in the guy's previous fight, literally a do-over?

@@shahidabdoullakhanzorovr1564 I think it would be difficult to form an argument for Usman being overrated as he’s beaten everyone he has faced. But I also understand that he has 5 title defences against 3 opponents, so he definitely needs to fight a wider range of opponents (which he is doing, by rematching an improved Leon Edwards). I think time will tell whether he is overrated but as for now I think he is well rated and arguably P4P no.1 (I would accept Izzy and Alex as P4P no.1 also).
I think you can make a stronger argument for Colby being overrated as his notable wins are Maia (2017) RDA (2018) definitely past his best Lawler (2019), a declining Tyron Woodley who gathered 4 straight losses before retiring (2020) and lastly Masvidal (2022). I would NOT call Colby overrated due to his good performances against Usman but I can see the rationale behind the thought that Colby is overrated.
Lastly, I think calling Jorge a journeyman is very harsh, he is/was clearly a good/decent contender (which goes against the definition of a Journeyman) in the WW division with some good wins. I think you may believe this due to his record (35-16) (12-8 in UFC) but he has a lot of split decision losses which are very disputable (benson Henderson, al aquinta, Larkin etc)

This is the first video of yours I've ever watched, absolutely brilliant, a great insight into Masvidal's pysche, and why he's decided to channel Tony Montana as a personality! He's obviously got talent but he really needs someone who can sort his head out.

I'm joking. I used to be a huge Masvidal fan, but after the Ben Askren KO....I was starting to see a change that I didn't like. He was becoming everything he claimed to hate before. He said he hated trash talk, now he does it constantly. So maybe he was projecting the whole time and had me fooled. Whoops.
Unfortunately, projection is very common. For Masvidal in particular, it is what he is projecting that is disturbing. What do you think people find so fascinating about him? Is it the same reason gangster movies are celebrated?
Masvidal is a fun fighter, his style is cool and fun to watch, and his personality is VERY funny. But it seems like he recently got cursed or something, everything he touches after 2020 turns to shit. It's actually very similar to Conor, Conor is not funny anymore after all those losses, you lose the energy. But I'm sure if Conor and Masvidal get some wins, their popularity will rise again one final time.
Tbh, this is leaving out Colby hitting guys after the fight was over, claiming hes the father of another mans kid, not paying Jorge for being compassionate to him and so much more

He only lost the casual fans who jumped on his hype train of 2019 and turned their back on him after he suffered that devastating ko loss to Marty and the humiliating one to his ex friend Colby. You have no longer just touched upon exhibited mental disorders but humanities dispositions as a whole.
Yes. There was a famous study I learned about back when I was in grad school about this.
I’m gonna butcher it but basically they had two people meet and talk for ten minutes. Then at the end of the ten minutes they had each person describe the other person. They had each person do this multiple times.
Then at the end, they had each person actually meet with a psychologist to do a personality assessment. The psychologist then gave his assessment of each person, and they found that there was a ton of overlap in how people described others and in how the psychologist described the person giving the description. Good and bad - if someone described others overwhelmingly as negative, cynical, etc. the psychologist often described them (the person giving their judgement) in the same way. And if they described others with mainly positive words, the psychologist described them (the person giving the judgement) the same way as well
