    Wonderful review. I have had my machine since December and it is amazing. The support team is quick to give feedback along with the OF forum. Is just amazing support from everyone. I ordered my Journeyman X-50 rails to increase my cutting are from 32 x32 to 48x32 for some larger projects. Is simply an amazing company. Thank you again for your review.

    Great video! I ordered my Onefinity and it'll be here in August. I needed to see your review because I was starting to re-think my purchase! I'm a 62 year old gramma and hoping the learning curve isn't too much! I have a Glowforge Pro laser now and I love it but want to move on to bigger projects. I subscribed to your channel and can't wait to watch more of your videos! You explained everything so well that I feel pretty confident in my purchase! Can't wait for it to arrive now and start creating some beautiful stuff! Thanks again!

      Hi Shelly, thanks so much for watching and subscribing! My channel is pretty new at two weeks old, but I really enjoy paying it back, all the good info I've gotten from CZcams and other sources. You're going to really enjoy the machine, and since you're already using a glowforge, Im sure it will be a fun transition to a new tool for you! There's a great Facebook group in case you haven't found it yet, here is a link. It's a onefinity user group and is full of very useful people sharing their knowledge. I assumed I needed to replace a failed power supply (mostlikely cause by a power surge, electrician found no anomalies) only to find a brand new controller shipped to me within two days (I didn't even ask for it, just looking for reason why it failed). You pretty much told my exact same story. I'm a furniture maker for 20 years, love my workflow and the tools I own but wanted the CNC to add art to things I make, repeatable cuts ect....just to enhance what I already make and sell and add new possibilities and I've been a professional 3d artist for 20 years so it's exciting thinking if I can make some of my designs on signs and things but I know its not a $12k Avid either. I researched the heck out these entry level CNCs and I'm like you I saw a ton of bad reviews and things about the belts, I didn't want to take 6-10 hours to put one of them together either and the bars on the OF looked strong to me. I ordered in Mar and should have mine next month and will upgrade to the 50" journeymen today probably to help with flattening slabs but very nice review and I even feel better about the OF after this vid. Nicely done. Thank you

      Hey Rone, so yes it sounds like we have the same view/mission of adding the cnc to the tool kit. Have had mine since February and have really enjoyed adding this capability. Couple weeks ago needed 6 identical corner shelves with radius front edges, and it was awesome to cut the machine loose on 6/4 walnut to make exact parts while I was doing other work. Also adding inlays to furniture takes the work up a notch. Best wishes for your new tool! I’m sure you’re going to find many uses for it. While this channel just started and doesn’t have a big library yet, I’d encourage you to subscribe as I’ll be adding a video a week and you might find them useful! Thanks and take care!

That alone raises the price while getting your name out there that you're willing to do extra custom work. People love cheesy sayings and their name lol. Have fun with the 6/4 and I did sub and thank you Bud. :)

      @@TradeSkillersAnonymous I too have done months of research on CNC routers. The Onefinity appears to be the best value for the home woodworker. There are several good designs in the market place but the Onefinity’s superior design and construction is evident. I only want to make this purchase one time. I’m ordering the Journeyman X-50. It will do everything that I anticipate doing project wise. My sister and brother-in-law have a full size Laguna machine in their garage. Great machine but I don’t want to dedicate that much floor space to a machine. As far as other subject matter my standard answer is always 1. Why did all of the dinosaurs have to die? 2. Outstanding and honest review. Your video answered most of the questions I had without being able to get to see a CNC in person. I've been thinking about an enclosure and have a question. Does it hinder you getting pieces in and out of the machine along with any servicing you have to complete? Whatever I have will be going in to a room in the basement along with my lathe and scrollsaw. I'd also love to hear your thoughts on using a spindle instead of a router (apologies, I haven't seen your other video's yet).

      Hi CJ, I do in fact have another video that goes into my enclosure and I think you might enjoy it as I discuss what I should've done differently. I've since then, upgraded my machine size, which meant I needed to take my enclosure apart, and remake it. I will apply those lessons learned to version 2 of my enclosure, but have not yet built it.
      An enclosure should have maintenance in mind, and my biggest goof on the firs one, was that I didn't take that into account.

Like you, I’ve seen people who get a product or something and don’t have much of a clue how to use it, but are just promoting it, that isn’t me. The enclosure will,reduce some noise, buy CNC/router work is noisy! My primary reason for enclosing my CNC is dust control, any noise reduction is a bonus. I built my enclosure after installing my @onefinity CNC just to make sure I had the dimensions right. I would guess that while actively cutting, my plywood enclosure reduced noise by 15%, but reduced dust by a lot more.

      Hi Francisco, yes I did run the spindle, but have since removed it because I had an issue with a faulty aircraft style connector that plugs into the top of the spindle. I'd say it ran great, and is quieter during free spinning, but once you start cutting, the noise level is about the same. I used a spindle with a 65mm diameter, so there wasn't anything I needed to do other than use the breakout box that I got from onefinity. There are larger diameter (80mm) spindles available, but I didnt choose that size. (Breakout box is an optional accessory from onefintiy) So my experience was, a poorly designed/manufactured spindle connector from the spindle manufacturer (not onefinity) caused me to take it off. I've since gotten a new connector, but honestly haven't found the need to reinstall that spindle as the Makita router does just fine for the work that I do. The spindle is just a "nice to have" option.

    Trying to decide between this and the Stepcraft M1000. I see you can add a spindle.. which I assume means you control the speed and on/off from software.. that's important to me. Will the spindle work as well and robust as the Makita you had in previously? I also really like the idea of the ability to do tool change for bits. Is there an option for this to add that so you can do more complex CNC with different bits without having to manually watch/change them? Lastly, can this be used with a laser engraver module and 3D printer head.. or only a CNC? I would imagine it should be possible since the StepCraft can do that. I love the new X50 model of this machine.. looks like it would last a lifetime other than maybe motor replacement. OH.. you mentioned (and others have as well) about wood/etc getting gunked up on belt/vwheel setups. Does the dust/etc get on the rods and gunk up where you have to constantly vacuum them or wipe them down too? I would imagine some materials would be spitting out all over the place and get messy.. so curious if or how this is better in terms of the rods that the bearings ride on with dust/etc on them, vs the wheels.

    • @TradeSkillersAnonymous
      @TradeSkillersAnonymous  Před 2 lety +1

      Hi Kevin, the spindle speed can be programmed in your cad, but can not be adjusted on the fly unless you leave speed control active on the vfd. The spindle works great, and I’d consider it an upgrade to the router. Trim routes just aren’t meant to run this long. There’s no tool changer option as far as I know, manual tool changes. I do have a jtech laser which mounts to the spindle carriage quite easily. I’m not aware of any wood or metal CNC machine that can also 3D print. Your last question was about dust/shafts and bearings versus belts and wheels. I run dust collection, and this set up works great. Belts stretch and or break, this machine uses lead screws instead. The v wheels found on other machines rely on eccentric nuts to keep them adjusted, and of course are prone to maintenance and or obstruction. This machine uses beefy chromed and hardened shafts, and linear bearings (which are sealed from dust), so it’s not a factor with this machine.

    Great Video, thanks! Just the "satisfied customer" info I was looking for. I've been sweating the details on what to get for months. One question, though. You started out saying you didn't want a machine that was dependent on being connected to a PC, but then later pointed out the touch-screen monitor you have. I assume that's connected to a PC, no? That's one of the things I'm trying to figure out. I want to be able to do the design/layout on my PC in the basement, and then wi-fi or thumb-drive transfer up to the CNC which will be in my garage. I don't want to have to buy another computer just to have it sit by the CNC. How does that all work with your Onefinity? Thanks! PS... SUBSCRIBED! 😃

    • @TradeSkillersAnonymous
      @TradeSkillersAnonymous  Před 2 lety +1

      Hey Greg, sorry if I made that a confusing statement. You can do exactly what you are trying to do with the onefinity. The touch screen that I referenced, is connected to the onefinity controller, not a PC and is just a touch screen. You can (and this is what I do), design on cad/cam software elsewhere, and either “deliver’ file to the onefinity controller via usb stick, or if your PC is connected to the same network as your onefinity controller, you can send the file to the onefinity controller through wifi. I send my files to my onefinity over wifi, and it works great. I have no pc connected to my onefinity, and it does not require it. The controller that your order with the onefinity makes the machine a truly stand alone unit. Doesn’t require internet or pc direct connection. Hope this helps!

      Interesting video. Glad you suggested it. It gave me some sound information. I'm more familiar with CNC coordinate measuring machines and the high accuracy measuring and drive methods used on them including the probing heads used for calibration and measurement. Woodworking CNC machines are a different animal. The info on v-belt drives is good to know. I'm slowly going through your list of videos to absorb all the info I can. Thanks for this informative one.

    i got accused of being a shill for the company when i mentioned the decent value for a onefinity online. in my opinion belt driven machines are a waste of cash, and if you arent up for spending at least 5 grand then this machine is the only serious contender. i own a german heiz machine costing around 4500 pounds sterling , and it doesnt have ballscrews just leadscrews . admittedly its a slightly longer x axis on mine, and i have a kress spindle in it instead of a router. when it finally gives up the ghost in a few years id seriously consider a onefinity as a viable replacement. thanks for the review

      So, I think I ordered maybe 4 months after the order window opened. Compared to similarly constructed machines (ball screws and linear bearings) my best guess is that they must be buying market share with disruptive pricing. The machine as it sits should be much more expensive in my opinion. Im guessing that by the end of this year they will (deservedly) move their pricing up. Use my special code signatureseries for a zero percent discount. = )

So, first chip by August.

It’s been a good while since I got mine, (ordered in sept 2020) but I recall them sending an update initially saying label created, which means that onefinity printed the shipping label at their warehouse. Then if I recall, it was about a week later that I got a second email with an arrival date. If I recall, those two events were about 7 or 10 days apart. You’ll definitely get some notices before they ship and if needed, just have a friend or neighbor store for you if it comes while you’re away.
