HEY CURT! The Secret Rescue is a book written about US nurses and medics stranded in ALBANIA IN 1943. The Albanian people helped our nurses escape into Allied territory. I would be very curious if there are any markers or plaques commemorating this event?
An excellent book and a must read. Author Cate Lineberry.

Albania is also the only European country that saved the Jews in WW2....so it is not the first time that the Albanian people have done this thing during the history.....
@@AbbysFortitude I also just bought another book.....Half Acre of Hell......about a WW2 nurse who went with the invasion force into N Africa, Sicily, and the W coast of Italy.The medic station on that beach is famously known as hells half acre.
I am Albanian and I have never heard of this story. I will certainly purchase the book and read it. I don’t think there is any plaque commemorating this event though, the communist government of Albania that came after the WWII did everything to hide any evidence related to the American assistance and cooperation with Albania during the war.
Wow, that last song, “Die Living” caught me welling with tears. I lost my father in 2020 - a guitar-playing man who loved to roam the open road with my mom. This song fit him to a tee, as it does the two of you nomads!
That was a great song, it also resonated with me 😊❤
Old history in an Albanian city is wonderful. European history was one of my favorite subjects in high school.
So good to see the fishermen using pedalboats in the bay - less pollution from motors equals nicer fish for you to eat in the local establishments! Had never heard of Durres until now, what a great town - and fascinating (loooong) history!

Amazed at the amphitheater. One has to question why an international archealogical organization is not working on this site to protect this history
Clearly the cost would be the issue, Albania is an emerging country and finally finding it's feet after communism

A nice tour, and I really loved seeing that old Colosseum.I've studied coliseum throughout the world in history, and there were some major battles. It was also in the big colosseums in rome that they killed all of the Christians. I thought of snow and how she Likes Climbing up and down rocks. No I love seeing what your family does that was very good.I look forward to seeing more about your trip.Next week.

Yes! I would love to see a video about how G and Vanna came into their lives. I know G is much older than Vanna. Did they get G when he was a kitten? Are they from a shelter? Would love to know their stories. They're both so sweet. 🐱 ❤ 🐈

Yes, with the Ferry in a few hours you can be in Bari, Puglia (🇮🇹). Giovinazzo at North of the Adriatic Sea, and Mola di Bari at South.

These countries were established long before America so this is why the people from there are fascinated by history as anyone else I guess. It is the Mediterranean Sea and quite different from an Ocean. We do get storms that stir it up but mostly it is perfect for beach life!

We do sleep in the van.... But, mike is visiting temporarily... He needs a hotel room. When it's just snow and Curt, there's no hotel 😊

My Grandfather maintained dirt roads under contract with the county & state ,all done with a mule drawn grader
