What really bothers me about these cases is how much people Idolize the killers because most killers are described as "hot" or have a "charming" personality. When in reality that's the point. Most killers do that so people will like them and it's easier for them to get away with these things.

Ya, that's the sociopath effect. Usually they are very charming, good looking, kind and the first date may seem perfect...... too perfect and they know everything about you and try to make their hobbies and interests align with yours, they are manipulative but they so smooth with it, usually sociopaths won't murder you they just want to play around with you psychologically till you fully break down mentally. Psychopaths on the other hand, ah yes they will murder you and feel proud of it with a burning passion and are usually a lot more obsessive compared to sociopaths.
Overall we all wear masks and have different faces, we can wear these masks to hide our true self but for some people different faces can simply be different sides of people, like its still you but you're simply showing different pieces of yourself. The Japanese have a saying; ~The first face, you show to the world. The second face, you show to your close friends and your family. The third face, you never show anyone~

As an American this did not surprise me, some serial killer stories here have some remorse but don’t know why they kill (let’s look at Dahmer for this) he didn’t know why he killed and he wanted it to stop several times but he himself could not do it. In this case I do not think Lee is remorseful at all especially if he is a narcissist but I think there are three possibilities she was his next victim but this didn’t make sense to me as he seemed to only be attacking older people, that’s his niche his group that he likes. So my other guess would be that he wanted to be found out again this really doesn’t make sense to me, I’m still not clear on why some killers do this and I don’t think we ever will unless we get down harder on mental health. My final guess is that he loved playing games and wanted more players, he loved messing with the police, sucking in his ex gf into all this and who knows if she stayed long enough he could of pinned on her for all we know. All I do know is the families need more peace and justice.

    • @error404webpagenotfound

@@kimberlyr872 I think he was too. She got so lucky. There's no way he let her stay there alone with a dead body in the closet if he didn't plan to kill her at some point. Other girls that stayed with him didn't get killed, but I think that has a lot to do with the fact there was no body in the closet. He's got some audacity to risk that she wouldn't look in that closet and discover the body. This guy acted like he was invincible or just really didn't care if he was caught. The fact that he was so comfortable with killing someone and knew how to "clean it up" makes me believe he definitely did this more than the two times we know of. Who knows how many victims there are.

Update since I haven’t seen any in the comments:
Lee was sentenced to life in prison. The prosecutors are appealing because they want the death penalty; however, the court said they chose life in prison because he pleaded guilty to all charges and gave the victims families 30 million won or about $22,500.
Edit: I didn’t realize this, but those given life imprisonment have the possibility of parole after serving 20 years if they are on good behavior. This is why Uijeongbu District Court also ordered Lee to wear a GPS-equipped electronic monitoring anklet for 30 years.

"Innocent until proven guilty" kinda goes out the window once a confession is involved but at the same time there are false confessions that muddy the water.
Texas had one case where every few months a guy with a life without parole sentence would confess to another murder every few months to get a few days outside of prison and high grade restaurant meals while he confessed. He was blatantly wrong about enough confessions that they eventually caught on once he got the feds involved by confessing to a murder outside of texas. (Texas authorities were happy to close cold cases with what were in hindsight blatantly false confessions).

Regarding first impressions, a few months ago we were reading Frankenstein in our English class, and the topic "beauty means pure intention and ugly means bad intention" was brought up during one of our discussions. In our discussion, we gave examples of what we would do if a famous, or socially attractive person showed up in our home and started to engage with our family and it was really interesting to see everyone's perspectives. The majority of us agreed that if an attractive-looking person showed up on our doorstep we wouldn't bat an eye because there was "no way" a beautiful person would secretly be a terrible human being. Then, we asked the same question, but instead using a socially "unattractive" person as our example. Growing up, especially in America, we are told that people who looked odd, who linger in the alleyways, or are distant from others are the bad guys. So obviously, everyone said that the unattractive person would raise immediate red flags because, from the knowledge we've learned as a child, bad-looking people are bad in general. But no one EVER talks about the fact that an attractive person could be just as bad, if not worse. We are so divided by what seems good or bad that so many people can get away with a crime or a harmful act just because of their beauty. And it's not even our fault, it's just how our society works and how we have thought for generations. I feel like this topic needs to be addressed more because it's so bizarre.

@@marbleb33sat's what's so wild about Korean law is there's obviously sense behind these sorts of things and in theory the general principle is reasonable and positive but the laws themselves just seem so poorly designed that in practice it's like the legal system is constantly shooting themselves in the foot with it when having these policies shouldn't have to be that way. Almost like whoever wrote the specific law just didn't consider all the possible outcomes and write them with any procedures for getting exceptions nessicary to balance it with public safety.
Like it's just crazy there's no official procedure to apply to for an exception to this rule in the case of needing to ask the public for information as part of an ongoing investigation, you know? Like do a preliminary hearing where the prosecution has an opportunity to argue the public has a need to know so they can provide information or something, at least.
Not to say laws in either of my countries, Canada and America, are always great or anything but whoever wrote the exact wording in some of these Korean laws definitely should get fired because how it's even possible for the application of something that's so correct in theory (I think American plastering of mugshots is totally wrong in most cases and there's severe issues here with people found innocent suffering life consequences because of it) to be this ridiculous in practice is just mind boggling.

    • @frankiifrankii

@@lekshminandanaus8972 if you want to see it as a joke it’s funny … but seriously I thought it was obvious . A lot of modern crimes follow an almost movie-esque plot line these days ….so from when she said at the start about him having cats and a dog and the escaped current gf finding no cat food in the house and he was there for months … then she never gave closure about where the cat food was and at the end we find out Ms.j is dead and no body ….and the suspect is toying with police about where the body is ……knowing full well there isn’t one to be found is how I hear his demeanour to be in regards to her …as in he is saying to himself you can ask me a million times and I will tell you a million lies ….the only logical conclusion would be that this open ended piece of evidence fits in with the first problem of where the cat food was .
This is all speculative obviously …but we are gathering any working hypothesis we can at the moment right …
And also suspect as to why he fed mis.j to the pets ….comes from the fact that the authorities decided to spare the pets lives after saying they would be destroyed …..hence any good fully fledged movie watching detective (lol) would know this plot quite easily …. The deceased ms.j is helping the police by saying no don’t kill the animals …for they hold the evidence to where the missing body is ….and then they somehow get the cat whisperer to communicate with the animals and find the dna evidence of ms.j in the kitty poop and there is your closure and somewhat ironic feel good ending to the mystery .
But as reported they are progressing as we speak .
What I wanted to know was in the cupboard where the taxi drivers body was stashed ….was there any other persons dna in there …like before his . Or any evidence in the drains or freezer of chopped up body parts etc .
And I just had a feeling now that maybe he killed Ms.j on a holiday somewhere away from their normal country /place of residence …came back without her ….. Who knows ….

@@frankiifrankii it's not your speculation that made me react the way I did tbh I also want to know more about the case and the people are coming up with. I found it disrespectful to use the emoji while speaking of someone dead. Maybe its just me.

      @frankiifrankii Před rokem

Oh thanks for that …I too share your sentiments and think that would be obvious . It’s easy to take someone out of context …don’t worry . But keeping it in context , moral of the story was I hope they find Ms.j and what what happened to her so she and her family can have closure and peace . Also goes for anyone else he may have killed that isn’t yet known .
Ps.I try to keep my comments lighthearted because with so much sadness going on around the world I don’t really want to make anyone even more depressed . 😉

Just to give some updates.....he has been sentenced to life in prison for the murders of the taxi driver and his former girlfriend. He was apparently
spared the death penalty, since he pleaded guilty to all charges and financially compensated the victims family. The sentence is being appealed
by the prosecution, trying again to get the death penalty, but that is apparently still pending.

This is so disturbing, anyone could be a victim of this guy. You could bump into him and be a new target. To the families of the victims, I'm really sorry, I can't imagine how much pain you're going through right now.
About his pets, I'm glad they are in better places. They're gonna need lots of care. My family adopeted a dog 5 months ago, and we learned after some weeks that he used to be beaten up by his old owner, my baby is scared of men, he shakes whenever he sees a man, and runs way to the opposite direction.

It does make sense that he believed his own lies and was living in a sort of fantasy world(s) he created. That explains why he'd invite his girlfriend to move in while having a dead body in the house. He's told so many lies, having a dead body around probably felt surreal to him, like that's the part of his life he didn't believe was real. Truly disturbing! Glad to hear the animals were rescued.
