Alot of children who were mol ested will preform the same acts they expirenced on other children. They usually don't really have an understanding that what they are doing is wrong. There is a good reason we don't hold children to the same standards as adults. Children have less impulse control and are still learning right from wrong. Obviously in think children should be held accountable for crimes they commit but to hold them to the same standards as adults would do more harm than good.

I saw a documentary on gangs in Japan that purposely recruit young kids because even if they kill, their punishment would be very minimal. They interviewed the kids (blurred faces) and they would say they know they won’t get in trouble so it’s a perfect time to try doing all these crimes. They are not scared. It was terribly disturbing to hear.

When I was listening to this video I was literally thinking about how mafia/gangs could just use children to do crime for them. Well there you go...
A few days ago a korean middle schooler killed her friend and called the Police after admitting to the crime. The first question she asked them was if it's true she'd be treated as a minor

This wasn't a one-off accident, this kind of criminal behaviour has been a reoccurring theme with these kids. The parents should AT LEAST be fined for their kids actions every time they've broken a law.
My mom has lung cancer and this year she was taking a walk and a car speeding down the road HIT HER and left her. In the dead of winter in Connecticut. She broke every bone in her body. Had to get new hips, etc. they hit her and left her for dead. So she had to be in hospice with Covid and cancer and not able to move for over a year. She lost her job. Her apartment. The person was NEVER CAUGHT or people. The police didn’t even try to look. She has to leave hospice with no place to go and still with cancer and broken bones.
She was so excited. She had just gotten a job after doing chemo for so long. Her cancer had just stopped growing.
So there are people out there who left a woman with cancer for dead in the middle of the road in winter and the police did nothing.
I am so angry and stressed. I just sold my house so I can’t even take my mom in. She lost the job and her ability to do anything on her own after cancer had taken so much with her and she still has to do chemo.
This really hits home.
I’m so sorry for you and your mother. Absolutely horrible of the criminal who did this to her and the police. I’m sending good thoughts for both of you, I hope she can still find her strength despite it all

People need to keep in mind that prison isn't just a punishment. It's a way to keep dangerous people away from others. If these kids were properly dealt with, this wouldn't have happened.

Korean police force only functions properly for people with high profiles. The public can't do anything since the government doesn't give af they will just issue a public apology and call it a day.
in my country, the netherlands, like a lot of other european countrys prison is treated more like a mental rehabilitation process. especially for minors. it seems to be working tho. the chances of people committing crime in europe after they go to prison is way lower then in the us for example.
however i do agree some people are beyond help but in most cases theyre not.
crime with children is still a problem here too tho because we have similar laws where teenagers are treated diffrent then adults and theyre doing crazy things like walking around with knifes etc

This just reminds me of the case of Furuta Junko. It was so disturbing to read about. And her torturers, who violently kept her hostage and repeatedly beat and SA'd her were never punished due to their age. At least for this particular case. I've heard that since then they were thrown to prisons for different crimes.

it’s so strange. the country has a low crime rate on paper but there are so many horrific crimes. it’s almost like the reason their laws are so lenient is to appear better and safer to be able to claim that they have a low crime rate.

@@stefthorman8548Japan is also a bit similar to South Korea in terms of crimes and these mindsets. Some crazy murder cases, extreme bullying, etc has also happened there yet they claim Japan as peaceful and one of the safest countries.
I think we just found out why "bullying" is such a massive problem. Kids are out here torturing people and the law is encouraging it.

I didn't understand why "bullying " was such a problem in korea. But, I guess we all know why from just this one case. The LAW should be protecting victims rather than the perpetrators - not the other way around. This disgusts me and knowing this angers me. I honestly teared up at one moment because it was so heartbreaking. I've NEVER done that whilst hearing of a case.
Even hearing about the 800 fee angered me. Sure it prevents rental companies from providing vehicles to minors to some degree, but that does not punish the children in any way. It just makes it inconvenient to them. Of course rental companies should be held accountable, however, the law is still protecting the children. There is NOTHING put in place to punish them.
@@kimmyjimmyfics9864 That's not it. In our country, children are criminally responsible from the age of fifteen, even for murder, and bullying is not that bad here, and in the last thirty years there have been two cases where a fourteen-year-old killed someone.
Hearing those parents' responses makes it abundantly clear why their children turned out to be such criminal assholes.

Something similar recently happend in Germany.
Two Girls met up with their friend, Luise. After they were done, had said goodbye and Luise was walking back home though a forest, her two friends followed her and stabbed her with a knife over 70 times. She was probably still breathing when they left her body in the woods.
This happend earlier this year. One of the girls was about to turn 14 in a few days, which in Germany is also the age where you can get legally punished. So these two girls knew that they had to commit this crime before they turned 14. This sparked a huge discussion here as well. As far as I know the two perpetrators are doing well and are free. They got protected by the government so their families are living as happily as ever.
As a 13 year old I think this is absolutely disgusting. Even the thought of killing somebody is horrifying to me. These people need to be punished and don’t deserve to be released.

Why wasn't CPS involved? I don't imply that the teens had been abused but, it's clear that their parents aren't capable or willing to provide an education to their kids.
I'm from the EU and believe that prison should be a rehabilitation institution, not a punishment institution. I don't think kids belong in prison with adult criminals but there are reeducation programs, there's mandatory community service and other measures that could be taken.
I believe it was last year or so. In a town near me, two 12 year old girls stabbed their classmate to death and left her to bleed out in the woods. No, they weren´t punished and the two familys moved away. This also sparked a heated debate about the age of "Strafmündigkeit", when can you be legaly held responsible for your actions.
As someone who works with children, this is very hard to answer, and I believe a case by case approach would maybe work. Since in that age, their emotional developement is so different.
Still, to commit hard crimes like SA, murder and general assault, you have to be a certain type of person to step over that treshold of violence. That shouldn´t be ignored, no matter the age of the culprit.
I was also going to say it's quite similar in Germany. In general I believe in the ability to correct a child's or teenager's path and their own ability to develop but in extreme cases it does leave you questioning the system...

Accidents happen of course, but deliberatly harming someone and then getting off scott free because of your age, does leave a bad taste in my mouth. One can only hope that the horror about what they did will come when they are older, and will make them better people...

Eight middle school students from 목일중학교 stole a car and drove to Daejeon in the middle of the night. At some point they hit a food delivery driver on a motorcycle and were pursued by police. The motorcyclist, a university student in his twenties, ended up succumbing to his wounds.
Since none of the students are over 14, they cannot be punished under Korean law. Originally no one knew who the students were, but the victim’s girlfriend was able to track down their social media accounts and got in touch with their friends who shared their photographs and KakaoTalk conversations with her.
Apparently these students are notorious in their neighborhood for breaking into stores at night, stealing from convenience stores, and taking pictures of themselves smoking outside of police stations.
The victim’s girlfriend has started a petition to change the law regarding juvenile delinquency. It already has over 500,000 signatures.
That’s great! Glad their is a petition. Rid this world of evil.

I think the saddest part about this whole thing is, if you’re a murdered by a minor in Korea, you won’t gain any sort of justice. My heart goes out to the victims family who have to live in a constant reminder that her sons killers are still at large.
Not only in Korea though, probably in a lot of places. At least in Europe. There have been arguably even more violent murders and nothing and nobody can really touch these kids.
@@gogumadalpaengi well europe is not one place with one law. Many countries have different age limits for children in criminal justice system. Varies between 12-16 if im correct.

In Poland we have a really similar case where a 13 year old boy killed his girlfriend who was pregnant because he didn't want to have a baby. And he killed her ONE DAY before his 14 birthday when he would face a more serious consequences

I watched a kdrama „Juvenile Justice“ it’s about a judge who hates juvenile criminals. It was really good (not the punishments tho) but not sure if it’s 100% reality, but like the videos i saw till now it seems so.

Simple solution: The parents need to pay 10% of their monthly income to the mother until their kids become of age and then the 10% transfers to the kids for the rest of their life. They killed someone they need to pay for it. If not through the criminal system then the financial one. They will have a monthly reminder that never goes away.

as a 13 year old myself , even when we are as young as 10 years old kids know whats wrong and whats right we are not clueless or that immature , the fact that they ran away shows they exactly knew what they were doing as a minor myself if someone commits a crime that concerns a life punish them severely, minor or not. i can vouch that us minors are not clueless its clear that they are sick in the mind.

I literally started sobbing when she said that Kun told his mom he would take care of her and that he would be her guardian 😭😭 Also the blatant disrespect and lack of empathy the murderers showed was disgusting. I psychically could not. I had to pause several time watching this due to pure disgust, hatred, and sadness for the immeasurable amount of loss Kun’s mother must feel.
They are psychopaths, they have no feelings, they are monsters among us.

Poor baby! He just turned 18, he didn’t even get to live and achieve his dreams. These 13year olds needs to be punished properly. Even if they were just 13 their actions shouldn’t be overlooked, they choose to do this knowing damn well they were in the wrong. They took an innocent person life, absolutely no excuse. Hardest thing for a parent is when they watched their kids die first. I hope that poor boy rest easy 🕊️
As a survivor myself I haven't done much with my second chance at life and in a way I want to start working harder not just for me but for him and one day I hope to find his mom. Money will never fix it but it's what he was working for to help his mom. He didn't even get to react just like that he was gone and those demons are still alive. It's not fair. I hope to help his mom something he saw as his responsibility because it was out of love. May he rest in peace

i’m pretty new to your channel still, but this is 1 of about 7 of your videos i’ve watched so far that has brought me to tears. hearing you describe the mothers pain was just so horrifying to imagine. may he rest in peace, may his family heal peacefully and may those awful damn kids be held accountable for their actions.
Moral of the story. When multiple crimes go unpunished, this can lead to worse crimes like murder.
The names and faces for these kids should be disclosed to the public. With 21 crimes under 14 years old, they are clearly criminals in the making.

Well I am living in Korea Suji. A high school student on a scooter crashed into my dog while I was trying to cross the street last year. Luckily there were witnesses and cameras. When the police came, we went to testify together. that child's mother tried to use violence against me and made racist statements. I was not going to complain at first and I was going to tell him to be more careful next time, but I applied to the court in the face of the psychological and physical violence they put to me. the scooter hit me too, but my dog suffered the most damage. I requested a translator even though I know advanced Korean, but they made me wait for months. The boy's father offered me money first, but I refused, then threatened to kill me. People in court were more interested in why I lived in Korea than the accident. I work and I pay taxes for this country! no one can make racist remarks to me in a place where I legally reside. though the vast majority of korea is racist and ignorant 😏😅 The court was canceled because there was no 'concrete evidence'. I spent over $6,000 on my dog's surgery and my own treatment, and no one even apologized to me in return… I applied again for a second court with camera records and eyewitness statements. I hope that spoiled little punk gets the justice he deserves this time.
Living in Korea is not like what we see on the Kdrama. In reality people's here in korea are judgemental and racist. I'm half korean and half Australian, people's still considered me as outsiders. Most people here are really arrogant, they always looking down on other people's mostly people from other asian countries especially the South East Asia countries.
I live in Japan and was a victim, I was injured to the point i have to wear a sling in my dominant arm for a month, tried to find justice, nothing happened after 3 years, i think they didn’t even process it after I gave my statement and all the proofs, i have to pay for all my medical bills and the SOAB is free
@@jacqychan I was born and lived in Japan until I was 5 years old. My parents moved to Canada for a better life because they realized how fucked up our society was there. Of course everywhere has its bad sides.. but it's VERY better.
These stories are all so infuriating. I know its bad to wish for something bad to happen to someone but people like this, people like the 8 kids mentioned in the video, with the way they acted, it made me feel like I hope there is someone out there outside the law who can do something horrible to this people because they deserve it.

That’s the same thing I have grappled with too. But you have to remember that there are people who need attorneys because the system is working against them. So even if someone is guilty. You have to be there to make sure their punishment fits the crime. You also need to be the one there to make sure innocent people don’t go to prison. That’s a very important job that you shouldn’t feel bad about. As long as you keep your morals & you don’t lose sight of your compassion & empathy for others. You’ll be a great lawyer.

In my experience of middle school it contains the biggest sociopaths Ive ever seen. Just complete lack of understanding mix with lack of caring just leads kids to do the most fcked up things. By high school end they start having a goal of getting into uni but before that it's a bunch of kids stuck bored influencing each other and trying to outdo each other.
In America, 8 13 year old repeat offenders would already be in juvenile detention until 18, after the murder, the 13 year olds responsible will be held in juvenile detention until they are 17 or 18 to receive a murder charge. The point of the Law is Order, and you can't maintain Order without punishing people, of any age, for breaking the Law.
This made me cry no joke I have this vid playing background while I cook breakfast and I started tearing up when she started talking about how the mom was comforting his dead body. His life was unfairly taken and it was way too soon :(

A friend once convinced me to steal make up from a store. The mall guards caught us and called the police. The police gave me a choice, call your parents yourself or we will. So I did. I called mom out of a police car, crying I stole something and am in a police car.
She didn't yell at me. She didn't ground me. She didn't "punish" me. Instead, she called the store, asked them to put the make up I tried to steal aside and made me save from my weekly money (equivalent to like maybe 1 dollar) till I had enough to go up the store humiliated to ask "umm, I'm here to pay for the stuff I tried to steal" I was 12. I NEVER stole again.

I have a similar story. I stole the key to a diary at Barnes and Nobles, and I think I ended up telling on myself because I was so scared of getting caught by my mom. Well, my mom took me up to Barnes and Nobles and made me talk to security and apologize for stealing. Never touched a single thing again. 😂
The only small reassurance in all fo this is seeing how much even their classmates turned on them. Real nice to hear all these other kids not only acknowledging how fucked up the whole thing was, but actively going out of their way to name and shame.

A 13 year old is old enough to be held accountable. But if it's a child that is too young to be held accountable, then it's parents should be held accountable; especially if that child has committed multiple offenses in the past.

There's a growing number of Korean kids who go to school here in the Philippines. I thought it was just for English. Now I realize the parents are probably hoping to get them away from this kind of thing in Korean schools. This complete lack of culpability literally turns schools into death traps.

@@NeroZeroes Student visas are easy to acquire. They either go to specialized schools teaching Korean students English for couple of years or so. Or in some cases, the family moves to the Philippines as long-term residents for like 5 to 10 years (some establish businesses here as well).
Traditionally though, the adult students study alone in the more prestigious universities like De La Salle or Santo Tomas, since those schools teach courses in English, are comparatively cheaper, and have a good reputation in Korea for the quality of the education. This phenomenon is older, and dates back to when Korea was poorer and the Philippines was richer (shortly after WW2).
Koreans still have the highest population of foreign students in the Philippines. Roughly twice the number of the next highest foreign student nationality.
Several famous TV/movie celebrities and CZcamsrs in the Philippines are of full Korean descent, but grew up in the Philippines.
Sandara Park of the K-Pop band 2NE1 came from the same background. Which is why she can still speak Filipino and English, and she still comes back to the Philippines for vacations.

I've heard of this. I think I was searching if SK has any close relationships with any of the ASEAN countries and this popped up. On another note, if the parents are aware beforehand, they might have seen this kind of thing even from their era but probably smaller scale.

I know this is infuriating for all the people watching, I know you're wondering where the adults are and why nobody is helping! AS MUCH AS IT'S COMMON SENSE FOR YOU TO DO SO, Korean laws are not kind to foreigners in this way. Cultural difference and language barrier can get you in serious trouble, especially if you do not have Korean friends. If you don't have anyone to defend you, they will most likely accuse you of being the attacker. As much as the country is said to be safe, there are many lacking laws and protection, especially for foreigners!
Don't take this as me hating South Korea. I love the country and the culture, it's beautiful and challenging. But like any other country, you have to take the good with the bad.
So please, be mindful and responsible of all the things you decide to do there.

I always found the bullying in kdramas a little too unrealistic as me being a kid that age would have been sent to the principal's office for saying a curse word... but now I know that those bullies in those Kdramas are just a small glimpse of the whole reality there and the reason why they always get away with it is because of this law

This discussion is also happening in Germany at the moment where the laws are similar. A 12 and 13 year old school girl went to the woods with their 12 year old classmate Luise and stabbed her multiple times . They couldn’t be charged with anything and just moved with their family. Many people were shocked and their personal info and TikToks were leaked shortly after. This might be good case you could cover sometime.

I think in Germany, even if they don’t get sent to prison, they are not just send home. They get checked on, there is the possibility for psychological treatments and so on

That part wrecked me, my grandma whom I grew up with for majority of my childhood recently passed away peacefully and we were devastated even though we were it was coming and she didn’t suffer during her passing. So I can’t imagine my own child whom you never expect to pass before you, in the horrible state he was in… how do you ever recover from that.

There was a similar case like this happened in Thailand.
An engineer who’d just graduated, got hit by 16 year old RICH boy who is (still is) a national badminton player (even though he should be removed from the team after this hideous incident)
The engineer’s parents are a farmer, working so hard to support the son and once the son got a job, he sent his 1/3 of salary back to his parents. The rest of the money was going to fund for his further study.
The 16 year old rich kid didn’t have license. He drove BMW past through red light hit on the motorbike who came from the other direction of 4 junctions while he had a right to go since it was his green light.
The father of this nasty kid said I DONT HAVE MONEY TO COMPENSATE TO YOU. And since then till now the nasty kid still got his bright future ahead with his career and have not paid for his crime.
Yea, just like the grandson of Redbull's founder. He got away with Hit and Run of a policeman and in Thailand, there is a time limit for crimes. So he fled to another country and is waiting out the time limit.
