I just love this. I remember as a kid loving dandelions in every stage to bring flowers to mom, or blowing the puff balls to make a wish, and was so sad when I was told it was a "weed" that needed to be gotten rid of. I think God places a delight in kids to appreciate His creation.😊 Thankfully now, I'm going back to appreciating ALL of His Creation!

I agree! I do not know one kid that has not thought they were wonderful, I know I loved them too and have had many dance students and my own boys bring me them as flowers. They were right to do so!

Yeah, the chemlawn industry wants us to take chemicals instead of nature. What we call medicinal plants and flowers, they call weeds.
I had a neighbor who got so angry about my dandelions in my yard that he moved on five acres. Now that he's into gardens, Guess what he love now!!!! Too funny!!!

I get laughed at by family and neighbors for eating dandelions and drying them so put in my smoothies during the winter. People laughed at things that are not yet part of the main stream and I've always lived outside that stream and love walking my own path. This year I actually planted dandelion seeds and they are flourishing. While I sip my morning pine needle/lemon/ginger/turmeric tea I tour the garden chomping on dandelions and the sweet tips of my hemlock tree.
All this because I was so blessed to find your youtube channel. Thank you for sharing all this valuable information.

I laugh at myself for once paying for boxed dandelion tea in the store when it's free in my backyard. When not in season, I drink tea from the free mint growing outside my backdoor. Mexican stores have interesting dried offerings for teas and idea makers. I add a bag of Bigalo Cinnamon Tea Bag with four Lipton bags when I make iced tea & it has a delightful hint of cinnamon that adds variety to my day.

The reason being for your doctor acting that way is simple.
Doctors are thought in medical schools worldwide about Physiology/ Anatomy and so on they learn to apply drugs for certain symptoms.
      That's that.
It's very hard to convince a doctor that what grows in our soil is good for you.
Why certain animals eat specific plants?.
They use what's been "implanted" in them and that's their "sense" they don't use logic like humans do.
Humans are easily persuaded to scientific research etc.
Besides all plants have carbon in them and that's something that human/animal bodies accept, drugs of any kind don't!. Drugs will not fix you!. Drugs will control your symptoms to a certain degree until you develop other conditions of using them.

    Index:
    0:00 - Intro "Miracle plant"
2:05 - Benefits list, but a little history first, and different kinds of dandelions, like the "Cat's Ear" (more cat fur, and more rounded, with multiple flowers on each stem)
4:12 - Vitamins you get from dandelions. "Have some every day!"
    5:00 - Other benefits
7:00 - Benefits of "the best part" which is the root.
7:30 - Benefits of leaves - for digestion, helps milk production, good for detox.
8:25 - Benefits of flowers (both topically and ingested!)
9:00 - Benefits of stem sap, including eczema.
10:00 - Benefits to other plants and insects.
    10:30 - Preservation techniques
11:50 - Benefits of leaving dandelions to grow in your garden (no weeding!)
13:30 - Dandelions for hair care!
14:20 - other uses and other flowers.
    15:30 - "green" tea!
16:30 - more on preserving nutrients, including the roots, and when they are best harvested.
The rest is all good advice and doesn't seem like an index would be all that useful.

My grandmother used to tell me stories of the foods they'd forage in the mountains of Southern Oregon almost 100 years ago, and dandelions were one of them. She said every summer she and her sisters would go out and forage Dandelions and fry them up or eat them in salads. Interestingly, her great grandmother had learned to use medicinal plants from the Delaware Indians when she lived in Southern Missouri in the early 1800s.

God gives us what we need, people just need to learn what all of it can be used for. My aunt that married into the family many years ago used to pick the leafs of the plant and eat them fresh and cooked. So many in the family laughed at her. I didn't, i wanted to know more because my great grandmother used many plants and bark. I know because she would take me with her until i learned what she was wanting. She passed alot down to me because I was the only one of the great grandchildren that was interested. I have to read or watch something every so often to remind myself. Thank you so much for the wonderful vedios.

I've watched a few of these dandelion videos and never hear that like here in Fort Worth, the flowers close like an umbrella until morning when they reopen again. Roots, flowers, it's easier on an old man's back to snap off a flower head than to dig up the roots in my hard Texas soil. Not that I won't do it in the future, many times I just sit in a chair harvesting flower heads. My back yard is hard but safe soil, not since at least 28 years ago has any weed killers or other poison been used on it.

    • @RainCountryHomestead
      @RainCountryHomestead  Před 4 lety +1

I really do not dig the roots up much anymore as the leaves and flowers are my favorite parts. I like to pick the flowers as soon as they open in the morning.

Dandelions are also good for dogs. My mom is from the Midwest and dandelions used to grow on the farm and the dogs used to eat them. Now how much they can consume I'm not sure make sure you do your research but my mom did say that the dogs that they had they ate the dandelions
Just be sure that if they do eat the dandelions that you have wash the pesticides and herbicides off the plant in the leaves
