    $125,000 AQUA FEST/MR. GATTI'S OPEN
Highland Lanes, Austin, Texas, Jul 19-24, 1984
    Weber "Festive" In Comeback
Pete Weber, down by 25 pins in the seventh frame, drilled home six strikes to capture his third PBA title in the $125,000 Aqua Fest/Mr. Gatti's Open.
Top-seeded Marshall Holman could have locked up the title with a double in the 10th frame, but after striking he left a 10-pin. Weber responded with a title-winning double worth $18,000 and a re-entry into the Firestone Tournament of Champions in 1985.
Before proceeding to the title game, Weber downed Pete McCordic, 245-191, and survived a nail-biter against Don Genalo, 191-181, when Genalo failed to convert a 1-2-4-10 "washout" in the 10th frame.
It was the third time Holman has been top-seeded in the annual Austin tournament.

I was two years old, which is when I started bowling. Started my first league at two years old, with an 8lb ball and no bumpers.

In my opinion, Marshall was in his prime in 1984. He had added experience, success & confidence to go with a BOATLOAD of physical talent. Pete Weber was great yet not even close to his prime. YET. HE SURE HAD THE AMBITION & PREPERATION THOUGH with the DRIVE to be better than his father.
