Jacques Takes Seattle
Dennis Jacques coasted to a 226-201 decision over Wayne Webb to complete a wire-to-wire victory in the $115,000 Seattle Open. It was the second PBA title for Jacques, who posted an impressive 21-3 match play record and led the field by 542 pins after 42 games. Against Webb, Jacques started with five straight strikes, while Webb failed to strike until the ninth frame. It was the second time in three years Webb finished second in this event. He also lost the title match to Charlie Tapp In 1983.
In the opening match, Marshall Holman, eliminated Mike Durbin, 238-199. Jimmie Pritts Jr., then stopped Holman, 252-187, before losing to Webb In the semifinal, 216-195.

No surprise that the PBA tournaments were hosted by Leilani Lanes for so many years...what a well-run center! In 1989, my youth bowling team flew from Green Bay to Seattle for the Junior Swiss competition. Nothing like being 16 and allowed to run loose in Seattle for a week.

Mark Fahy battled back with six strikes in his final eight shots for a 234-225 victory against Tom Baker, which netted him a check for $27,000. The victory was a big personal comeback for the 1981 Sporting News PBA Rookie of the Year.

1. Wasn't this the first year that ESPN did the PBA tour? Specifically the spring/summer events.
1a. And before ESPN, didn't USA network used to do the spring/summer PBA events?
2. My recollection was for years, ESPN had the spring/summer PBA events on either Wednesday or Saturday nights?
3. And the fall events from 84-91 were Saturday afternoons on NBC.
I don't believe the USA network was around in 85.
Irv Brown wasn't quite clear on what "perfect" means in bowling.
I caught that too. Perfect means no opens to hi . I guess on some beginner levels, no opens may be considered perfect.

He just passed recently. Not sure the circumstances, but he was fairly young.
